"I visited Josephine Sunset. They were very cordial. It was clean. The food was a little more pedestrian. The dining room was certainly nothing to scream and shout about and it was dreary. I actually kind of liked the apartments better than the other place I visited. I thought it was a little larger and they did have microwaves and refrigerators. I would recommend it. The things that was lacking there that the other place had was the concern to people that were still pretty active. The people there all had dementia and they catered to those people a little better. "

"My mother passed away from Alzheimer's last October. Highland staff were so amazing. Mom dodn't want to be there, where ever there was. The staff cared for her, looked after her, cherished her in all her stubborn ways. They were wonderful. After she passed, we couldn't find a knitted blankie she was using, that was her granddaughter's favorite blankie. Almost a year later, I received a package in the mail. It was the missing blanket- this shows the caring character of the staff at this facility. Bless them"

"When I visited Mt. Baker Care Center, I didn't think that their physical therapy room was well enough. At the time, they only had two or three therapists. However, the rooms were very nice, clean, and very well done. It was an excellent place. I absolutely would recommend them because of the quietness; there wasn't a lot of commotion going on. "

"Warm Beach appealed to me more because they had more activities. They had social classes, ceramics, music, choirs and a lot of things that I would be interested in. The people were a little more active. It was an entire community. They had everything there from camping to independent living to assisted living to full-term care. All together, they had about 300 units. The reason why they had a long wait list there was that anytime the assisted living became available, if they had somebody in the independent living that was waiting, of course they would give it within their own community first. The rooms were a little small. They had a little like a camping refrigerator that was about 2x2 and there was no microwave, so I would have to buy my own refrigerator and a microwave. There was very little closet space, but all of the units opened to a beautiful courtyard. They had chairs in each apartment there so you could enjoy the outdoors. That was very nice. They allowed pets and I had a cat. The staff was very cordial. I did not see anything that would turn me off. They had a lovely food service. They would bring you coffee in the morning. They had a lot of things and services that other places did not have. I thought it would be a very pleasant place to live. "

"Shuksan Healthcare Center was the first place we wanted to send my stepmom, but they didn't have an opening the day that she was released from the hospital, so she had to wait four or five days. She finally got in, and the place was fabulous. They had a therapy dog, a therapy cat, birds, and they had private rooms, which were all kind of painted different color schemes. I walked in the front door, and immediately the nurse at the front desk jumped up and then took me around. It was a lovely, lovely place. I won't say one-on-one service, but pretty close, and she really liked her therapy and nurses. There was one male nurse, in particular, that she was really fond of. He was just really helpful, just a very nice person. They have Bingo, a piano, and a little dining room, but you can eat in your room, and it was just a nice place. And, it wasn't crowded, wasn't noisy, and there were no crazy people screaming down the hallway or anything like that. Shuksan was excellent; it was great. She was there probably at least four weeks, and she was pretty happy. They have a big room down the hallway that was full of nothing but machines for lifting weights and all that kind of stuff for the physical therapy, and she spent at least an hour or more in there every day doing whatever it was they wanted her to do, physical therapy-wise, which was good. "

"I am currently in St. Francis of Bellingham. The nurses are pretty loud talking in the nurses' station. I was talking to my son yesterday and it was an important call and he said "Mommy, turn your TV down. I can't hear you." I said, "I don't have my TV on." He says "Are you on speakerphone?" I said "I am not. I am on my phone. " He called me back and there was no difference. He still could hear all of the background out in the nurse's station. In the mornings, it's really bad, and in the afternoon, the nurses are just there. I think to them, this is just a game. I have bladder issues and they don't answer the call bells fast enough. It is so annoying. The facility itself is nice. I'm actually in a single room and I have my own bathroom. Although I don't have my own shower, you have somebody that gives you showers twice a week. Sometimes you get to miss a week, but that is something I have to get used to (somebody giving me a shower) because sometimes it turns out to be a male. If they're putting on a show, they really know how to do it. When they know my son's coming, they straighten up to the point that he even notices it. At least they know that it's kind of phony. There are some very nice nurses and CNAs around here, though. Breakfast is the only meal that we don't get to order. It automatically comes, and that's the best meal of the day. They come around and take your order for lunch and dinner, and it's not that good. I like that this facility is close to my home. The community here is nice. I got pictures of deer that just showed up in the backyard. They'll lay down and it's like they're serenading you. That's a view that you'll never forget. I got bird feeders hanging out that the birds love. It's right in front of my window. It keeps me entertained."

"The facility was very clean. It has open airy and homey feeling. The staff is always helpful and responsive to family and patience needs. They are caring and loving. "

"I was there for congestive heart failure rehab and while there I got a respiratory infection, a yeast/fungal infection, I became dehydrated, they lied about filing important paperwork, I never saw a doctor, they allowed patients with cognitive disfunction to park their wheelchairs in the halls next to other patient's doors all day long into the evening, I was left on a bedpan for over an hour, it was constantly noisy, day and night, and it always took many days to get anything approved, such as something as simple getting more water or changing an over the counter drug like ibuprofen to acetaminophen. I will say that most of the staff that directly took care of me were kind and friendly, but powerless to have any control over the things mentioned above. The rooms are a good size, but the only communication, when one pushes the nurse call button, is to turn on a light above the door (it's quite an old facility) and they are very understaffed, especially at night."

"In my experience from visiting my mother at Regency Care Center I was slightly surprised at how well the center was run. Every faculty member was always at work. All of the elderly patients were getting the needed attention and time. The place was well kept up and in great shape. Even all of the landscaping was incredibly kept in amazing fresh shape. As soon as I walked in I got a warm fuzzy feeling from the inside environment of people and furniture. They had an entire wing just built for visitors which is where I spent most of my time. The food their was better than expected. I wouldn't want it every night but that's why they have their own transportation buses that take the elderly out into town for shopping and food. They have a peaceful park built just out back of the facility where people can step out to get a nice breathe of fresh air or a short walk in the sun. Overall I really approve of this care center and I was glad to have such a nice place to stay at and visit my Mother. "

" These facilities are like brand new and very well kept. Clean- liness was amazing. As was air quality within the spacious walls. Staff was awesome their care extremely professional. To my shame I did the leadership of the facility a great disservice. I misunderstood the reasons for a rehab center and the role they play enabling a person to return to their life. I felt anything they could do I could get done better. I was so blinded by my own stupidity that I didn't recognize the truth. They were providing me with the best care possible. "My very elderly mother spent a month in this facility after a fall at home and a subsequent diagnosis of dementia. During my mother's stay I had extensive telephone contact with the staff at the Life Care Center of Port Townsend. Toward the end my mother's stay at the Life Care Center, I saw the facility in person several times while visiting my mother, and met several staff members in person about my mother's care needs. I found the staff to be friendly, helpful, professional, and conscientious. I felt that the staff showed genuine concern and care for patients/residents, and they provided me with a great deal of useful advice regarding my mother's needs. While visiting my mother at the Life Care Center, I saw that they had social activities for long-term residents, and that many of the long-term residents had extensively personalized their rooms. During one of my visits I saw an afternoon musical concert performed by the residents. There are other social events for residents, and the facility sends out postcards and a newsletter to families of residents inviting them to these events. The facility seemed exceptionally clean and well-kept. "

"I thought they were professional and attentive. They did a really nice job with her. Her room was absolutely clean; it was fine. I think the food was always good, and they tried really hard to make sure that she had something that she would eat. They did have activities; my mom did not choose to participate in them, but they invited her often. They have a rehabilitation room where they did the rehabilitation. I thought their communication to the family could have been better. We often had to find out things through my mother, and her interpretation skills are not as good as they used to be. "
