"We went to Bremerton. It was later in the day and my husband was getting agitated, but the management at the door was nothing but kind and had a wheelchair for him. This was a good start. They took us throughout the building, and it was very clean. The nurses, the patients, and the facility were clean. We were quite impressed with how gracious they were. My husband in the meantime needed a diaper change, so they gave us a clean diaper. We saw the dining room, and it was clean and organized. It looked like the food was served hot. It also looks sunny and bright, but it some of the place was dark. "

"My relative is in Washington Veteran Home-retsil. It's a nursing for the military and their wives. It's very nice, the food is really good, the rooms are terrific, and she's got a semi-private room. If I had a choice, and I had to go, that's where I would go. My relative loves it, they take her places, and it's exceptionally clean. I had lunch with her and I liked it. It's updated, they have a big screen TV with lounge chairs, they have bus trips going on, as well as card games, and bingo. It's only $5000 to stay there."

"I have a friend whom I have visited quite frequently in the three years she has lived here. I have always been impressed with how the CNA's and nurses work together in the tougher times when staffing issues happen. No complaining...just doing! I am also impressed with how much the activities staff entertained the residents even during the worst of the lock-down. Now, with everything opening up, they are bringing in new activities every day! I would certainly bring my family member here to stay...My friend is very happy here!"

"I was so impressed with this facility and the nurses, aides, physical therapy team and all other staff members I connected with.. I felt so comfortable and cared for each and everyday. I know I did so amazing in my road to recovery because of them. I was saddened a bit upon discharge. Highly recommend this facility. "

"My husband was a resident of Northwoods Lodge. It was an excellent facility. They provided everything to help him get back to normal. They had occupational therapy. They helped him try to speak. He had a two-bedroom, and because he was talking at night, they moved him into a private room at no additional expense. They were very caring. The nurses were wonderful, they came in to feed him. When you go in, you walk into a living room, and in an adjacent area, they have tables that you can set up when visitors come in. The food is very good."

"My husband is going to Martha & Mary. First of all, there is a very big shortage of places people can go to at this time due to lack of staffing, and so our search was very limited. My husband has Lewy Body disease and he also suffered a stroke, so we need long-term services and very complete services, which limited it further. In choosing our care, we literally have two options of eleven long-term care facilities that were available to us, and we chose Martha & Mary because number one, I have a son who was a brittle diabetic, and he spent time in that facility many years ago, so from personal experience, we knew that we would receive care that was quality from these people. They were full; however, we put ourselves on a waiting list, and I'd say with God's help, we got in, and they have a bed. My husband will be able to still have physical and occupational therapy and speech therapy, which was very important to me because I was concerned that if he did not get these things that he would then deteriorate and progress even worse than he is now faster. So, therefore, I'm grateful that they are going to be offered. He also can enjoy any of the activities if he so desires, but he will have to be prompted because, by choice, he'll say no, so he needs to be prompted. I will be visiting a great deal because I live in the area, not close, but enough so that I will come every day, at least for an hour or two to visit, and that is very helpful in stimulating his mental attitude. This room will be shared with other people, but I don't think he cares so much about that because where he is right now is just rehabilitation, and he is with other people and that doesn't seem to bother him at all, so my feeling is it's fine, no problem, so I'm happy. I think his transitioning will be difficult because people with dementia have a hard time transitioning, but I have to take him out of rehabilitation. His time is over according to Medicare, and so I feel very, very secure with what I'm doing. They were established in 1895, so they're a very old institution. I think that's important to know. It has been in existence for a very long time."

Welcome to Avamere Rehabilitation at Park West! Avamere Rehabilitation at Park West is a 5 Star Rated Facility by Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services (CMS). Park West is the premier skilled nursing facility in West Seattle, with two zero-deficiency surveys two years in a row! We provide compassionate and personal 24-hour skilled care and rehabilitation services in a comfortable and friendly environment. At Park West, caring is our main concern. We believe the most effective way to provide compassionate care is to maintain high medical integrity, build a team spirit among staff, and provide friendly, beautiful surroundings for our patients and their visitors. Although most transitions are not easy, we strive to facilitate that process with an environment where our patients and guests feel informed and comfortable. The care in our facility focuses on differing populations of individuals. Many individuals in our population are comprised of patients requiring several days or weeks of medical care and therapy before they can safely return home (or to a lower level of care). The remaining population is individuals who require long-term skilled nursing care (lasting weeks, months or even years) as they are unable to return home due to advanced age or illness. Most of these individuals will remain with us until they pass away. Based on each individuals needs, some patients receive rehabilitation (therapy) services to either restore or, where possible, improve to prior physical functioning. For the individual needing long-term skilled nursing care, the attending physician and facility staff will do what they can to assist the individual with the activities of daily living and mobility based on each individuals circumstance. It is important for you to understand, as a patient or a loved one of a patient, that advancing age brings with it the inevitable effects of aging that no medical care or treatment can change or cure. "I'm in Park West Care Center in Seattle for rehab. It's a nice-looking building, it's white, and it is very attractive from the outside. The room I'm in is very adequate for me. It's a 2-person room and from my bed, I can look out the window. I'm on the backside of the building so I kind of look out on the alley but it's okay. They're very good at keeping the place clean. The staff is very good and the people who care for me are good too. They provide activities, but I can't take part in them yet since I'm having to go through rehab. They have bingo and they usually have a movie several times a week. They have entertainment that comes and plays music for them. The food is quite good too. "

"Vashon Community Care was a very well maintained and clean facility. The staff always seemed very pleasant and dedicated to the residents. They also had a program called "Break Time" that would occasionally (weekly?) take trips and actually leave the facility, which I thought was great. All the meals were made in the cafeteria and there were always at least two choices for a main course. My grandmother had her own small apartment on the 2nd floor and honestly it could have been any apartment. Maybe a little hospital like but overall I was very impressed and very happy with the way my grandmother was treated and how everyone was treated. I never witnessed an employee lose their cool or speak harshly to any resident. With all the horror stories you hear about nursing homes and abuse I never once worried that it was occurring or would ever occur. I would highly recommend them to anyone who is in the difficult position of needing some help in taking care of their loved ones. "

"The Kenney is where I wanted my mother to go to. I like the facility. It has a really good reputation. It's been around this town for years and it has been maintained for a long time. My mother thought the price was too much. That's why she didn't go there. What's neat is you can start out there independent and they take you til you're fully dependent. It goes all across that span and it's got a very high reputation for its care. The rooms are very nice. It depends on how much you want to pay but the small rooms are small. The food is very good. The dining room looked really convenient like any one could come and go in there and it's very spacious. After we found out how much it was, that was kind of the end of it for her. "

"Sales staff lied to us about aging in place. Several times in the 7 months my mother stayed nursing said they couldn’t provide care. A fall that broke my mother’s arm was treated with negligence by not calling 911 for hours or immediately transporting to hospital. Promises to resolve issues with billing resulted in a letter incorrectly charging us for several thousands whilst my mother was lying in hospice. Care staff is untrained in dealing with memory patients. Please do not place your loved ones here."

"We had our mother in for rehab. The facilities are clean the staff is nice to the community and they try to make it a cheerful enviroment. We had a very good communications with the people who did all of our paperwork and help move mom to home, they were caring and considerate. But we had some problems with communication with the nursing staff and the caregivers, as an example, she had an injured leg and the evening staff while trying to move her grabbed her leg to help roll her. They said they didn't know it was injured, (this was the reason she was in rehab) She needed to go to the hospital at one point and the evening staff called the doctor to get the okay on Friday which he did, and on Tuesday she was still had not gone, we were not alerted that the staff had called the doctor or that the doctor had agreed that she could go to the hospital and it was only when we pressed and told them that we wanted her to go, that they was realized it had been approved days before. I felt like we were constantly checking and talking to staff and management and I am sure we were considered by them to be high maintenance because of this, but no matter where you put yourself or your parents you cannot leave them alone and expect everything to go smoothly They did try to communicate with us and make adjustments, but usually after something had occurred to start the conversation. Lastly, if your parents like to have a good meal you will have to bring them food. They have possibly the worst food at any facility that I have visited. When we asked what the meal was the staff just smiled and said they didn't know! It was undercernable as to chicken or fish. We found out that the people who live there take pictures of the food to show the low quality. At first we put it down to "hospital food" but we were wrong, it is grades below hospital food. They did say they were trying to improve it but apparently the low quality has been going on for years. I will still give them 3 stars for the facilities, cleanliness, cheerful environment, good rehab, nice people and they try. They were not mean in any way and they were helpful when asked. They have a church service on premises with an nice pastor. Overall if my mother didn't need exacting care this would be a good place. "

"With its beautiful views of the city this place is so upscale that you would expect to see a star walk out the front door. The staff is exceptional and full of life. They offer the residents more to do than there are hour's in the day. The outings that the residents go on are great and they offer the residents the opportunity to live independabtly and on their own. They are so warm and loving. "

"English and Japanese are spoken here mainly. They are attentive and always kind. You can tell the care takers are professional in every way and respect is always shown. There are games played at all levels, so everyone can enjoy it. There is light exercise depending on the individual's capabilities (chair or standing). Also there is entertainment depending on the theme of the day which could mean group sing-a-long or arts and crafts. The lunches are always delicious. I take my mother here as often as I can and she is always looking forward to it. "

"My father was in Skyline Health Services for six weeks. One of the real drawbacks was you pay an initial payment of $1 million to get in. There were two buildings there: one that has senior living, and another with various stages of care, including total care, which is what he needed. He needed nursing care, physical therapy, help being fed, and all that; so he was in that facility. They were really wonderful for my father, but very very expensive. Medicare covered him for six weeks and once that was done, I moved him back to his previous facility to be closer to my mother, but he passed away within three days of that. It's a lovely building with lovely people, and it has very high-quality care, but it's very, very expensive. Where he was, they had full support for my father's needs. They have superb support. They have a van that will take you to places you need to go. It's a very lovely facility and very welcoming. The nurses who were in my father's care were wonderful; they were very patient and well trained. They were very experienced in using all the equipment, helping him getting in and out of bed, and taking care of him totally. On the outside, it's very pretty, and he had a nice room. They also had gardens for people, patios, and balconies, and it's a very lovely building. It's also in a wonderful location."
