"Our experience with Washington Square Healthcare Center has been good. My dad gets the proper medical care that he needs. They do a good job of keeping the facility clean and tending to his needs. He doesn't have to wait very long if he needs them. They have a front porch area where we sit down and visit there, but we are also able to be in his room with him and socialize, even with his roommate there. He's in the VA wing of this facility, so they had it covered."

"Our family is very pleased with this facility. We settled Mom in this November. The Commons met every requirement presented on reputable websites that suggested what to look for. I was impressed at my first visit and at subsequent visits showing family members. I was met by different staff each time and all were friendly, helpful, knowledgable and were glad to be working there. Most have been there long term. The decor is updated and the dining room is set up as a lovely restaurant. Apartments are clean, laundry is done separately, etc. As you can see, we are pleased. Mom would rather be home, of course, but is starting to participate in several activities, and had her hair done at the little beauty shop too. "

"I have been to several assisted living facilities. Shephard of the Valley has been by far the best in the area. The staff is wonderful and very caring. You are treated like you are part of a family and well cared for. The facility is clean and well taken care of. There are activities, such as bingo, karaoke, dancing, movies and even a yearly car show. There are also outings and a beauty shop on location. I would recommend Shephard of the Valley to anyone looking for an assisted living facility. "

"I will have to admit, when I first visited my grandfather at the facility, I had terrible images running through my head. As I made my to the front door, I was greeted by a smiling face which instantly caused me to lower my guard! My grandfather was not always the easiest person to get along with, but after watching the way the staff catered to his every need, I was more than just taken back! They (the staff and nurses) really seemed to care. They even offered me dinner when I was there! I think another reason O'Brien Healthcare was so nice was due to the amount of windows they had! A lot of daylight could be seen and I think that helps ones mood when it comes to helping the ill. "

"My father was a resident under hospice care for a week before his passing. The staff were incredible! Each person I came into contact was kind, compassionate and caring. They were quick to respond our many requests to keep him comfortable during his final days. A sad occasion was more bearable."

"My grandfather is currently in Continuing Healthcare at the Ridge in Mineral Ridge. He's in the nursing home side of it. The initial appearance and the public spaces of the facility are fair in maintenance but the rooms themselves that we have been in have not been maintained to the level of my expectation. There are cleanings and care that could be done to the rooms to improve them. The staff is wonderful and they're doing what they can with the number of staff that they have. Unfortunately, I feel like they're overwhelmed with patients. Maybe the caseload is a little much to be getting the care that the patients truly deserve. He's only been able to get his food in his room since he hasn't been able to get out and socialize. All of the food he's had has been satisfactory. I think improving on cleanliness needs to be their top priority. I know staffing is a huge issue with everybody so more adequate staffing for patient care could be improved too."

"I have been a resident at this facility for 4 years and found the care excellent . I hope all the nursing homes are able to keep their standards in lieu of this current governor's wanting to utterly destroy the nursing home industry. "

"My experience with the assisted living provider was well, half of the time. Sometimes the staff would slack off, so I would have to step in and do what I had to do to make sure that my family member was comfortable. Most of the time, they were on time with their meals. The place is pretty clean except for the hideous smell going throughout the nursing home. I know that that is how most nursing homes smell most of the time, but I would think that they would at least try to prevent the smell a little bit. Every time I come to visit, they greet me nicely and politely. They are very nice and polite at the nursing homes, even if they slack off a little. Also, one thing that I don't like is the fact that most of the times they only have one nurse working the floor at a time. I believe that they need to have more workers on a floor at a time because what if one nurse is busy while a patient is in pain? The nurse will not be able to get to the patient in time. That is a major problem in this nursing home. I believe that they need to hire more people. "

"My late wife spent her last 22 months there, and I was there for 2 weeks of orthopedic post-operative rehabilitation after surgery. Overall care was compassionate, concerned, and outstanding by all from the executive director, nurses, aides, rehabilitation and recreational staff, and the medical director. Even the food was excellent. I recommend this place with no reservations. "

"My mother is in John XXIII Home. The reason we choose it is because we are familiar with it, and we have other family members that have gone there. The staff seems to be very caring and knowledgeable. The facility is very clean. The rooms are very spacious. It is a place that has people that she knows. When I am there, they have like a picnic and they have like hamburgers and hotdogs and stuff, but as far as I know, my mother says the food is very good. I think she is doing more there than she did when she was living by herself. "

"The staff is fantastic and loving and clearly care about our Mom. She used to work there before she became a resident. She always had good things to say about the facility and formed wonderful relationships with patients, then when she became one, staff has been very kind with her. It is always clean, there is never an unpleasant odor (like nursing homes of our childhoods), and it is cheerful. There are things around to amuse the residents and they led them in activities so for example the memory care patients would bop a ball around while they watched tv. Meals were fine and they make sure my Mom always gets one. My brother came by before COVID to take my Mom out to the park and they helped make that possible for both of them. It's a wonderful place. I am sad my Mom has to be in a home. But I am glad she is in this home. "
