Nursing Home Communities in Ocean Springs, MS

"Ocean Springs was an outstanding place. I actually had my wife there for short term and it was just a matter of cost. It was the only reason why I didn't keep her there. Their facility was neat, clean, organized and the rooms were nice. The medical staff and the assistants were all good. They had shift workers and the ratio of the care staff to the residents was good. There was always someone available. The meals were adequate and they had activities every day. It was a good facility. "

"This facility had been recommended by a friend who was a former patient/resident there. My first impression was that this was a small, well cared for property. This suggested to me that the residents there would be well cared for as well. The decor was updated and cheerful and the building was very clean and odor free. The staff was very friendly and I liked the fact that an R.N. was always on duty. I also liked the fact that this was not a huge sprawling complex where a patient may get forgotten. The facility offered physical rehabilitation, patient activities, an in-house dining facility, and barber/hair salon services. Outside entertainment in the form of singing groups was brought in periodically. A Dr. specializing in geriatric care was on staff and held periodic meetings with the patient's family to discuss the patient's progress or lack thereof. These meetings included the facility staff that care for the patient such as nurses, aides and therapists, providing a 360-degree view of the patient's regimen of care. Meals were served in the dining hall or brought to the bedside as need dictated. The patient, who was a good cook, was somewhat critical of the taste of the food but it was nutritious. Care was taken to keep the facility clean and decorations were set out to recognize the changing of the seasons and holidays. This was a cheerful touch and helped provide a sense of normalcy for the patients and their families. "

"The staff is wonderful. I have always been greeted warmly and my grandmother speaks very highly of her caregivers. The facility is a little outdated but always kept neat and cleanly. They regularly host events for the residents and family is always invited and encouraged to attend. "

"My wife is in a nursing home called The Pillars of Biloxi. She has dementia, and she wanders. It's kind of a special unit for her. She's just been in there about four weeks now. It is nice and is an older place. There is a lot of stuff, and they take good care of them in the unit that she is in. They have good nurses and good people who takes care of them. They seem to be alright. She seems to be happy there. It's not something I wanted for her. There's a lot of private places that are a lot nicer and newer as far as the buildings. The Pillars of Biloxi is an old place, but they take good care of them. I can't really complain about that. They have excellent staff there. They seem to do everything I've asked them to do. My wife shares the room with another person. The room is kind of small. They don't have a lot of closet space in the room, but they get by. It was kind of like a hospital room. They have a curtain that they can pull that separates them. They have started some physical therapy. She has not been there long enough to get involved in a lot of stuff yet. I'm not really sure what they have. She's kind of in a lockdown unit where they can't get out the doors. They have an area they can go out. There are about 20 patients there, and I think 4 of them smoke. They have a smoking area out there. I asked them one time if they would take them out, and they said they do. They take them outside and let them out once in a while to get some air. It's not really nice, and it needs a lot of work. It's an old nursing home, but the people take care of her really good. They seem to do a lot of activities."

"Transferring my husband to Singing River Health and Rehabilitation for hospice care was the hardest decisions I’ve ever made. However, at the same time, the best decision. When we arrived, the manager Jason greeted us. His pleasant and professional demeanor put me at ease right away. Sheila in admitting made the paperwork painless, which at a time like this is extremely important. All of the nurses and staff were efficient, friendly, and provided excellent care. I couldn’t have asked for more. I am also thankful that my daughter-in-law Janette, a manager there, recommended that I bring him to this facility. She was also a great comfort to me, It makes the memory of my husband‘s last daus easier for my whole family. I would highly recommend this place to any family on the coast for a long-term or hospice care."
