I really didn't love Sunplex Sub-acute Center, but the biggest plus was they took Medicaid, and that's what my sister was on, and she enjoyed having companionship there that she didn't have for all the years that she was home with my parents. The nurses were good. The facility was just old and outdated. It usually appeared to be clean, but I guess it's hard to help when you've got a bunch of bedridden people that are incontinent. Sometimes it would smell of urine. My sister had a urinary tract infection. They're changing her diaper and somebody should have noticed, but she was septic by the time she got to the hospital, and that's what she died from. They did bingo and arts and crafts. The ones that were able, they will take them out shopping and stuff. My sister was not able to participate in those. They also did Christmas parties and birthday parties once a month. They need to be more attentive to the health of their patients and possibly do some better training on equipment, because I watched them one time lift my sister with a hoyer lift, and she looked like she was dangerously close to falling out. Some of the things needed to be updated, too, like the furniture and the beds.

If you care anything at all about the person that's being here, don't do it. This place it the pits. The staff is totally non-responsive and non caring about their patients. The social worker there is rude and will not communicate or answer phone calls and inquiries about patients there. As far as visiting goes, forget it. They will not allow anyone to visit inside or to see what the conditions are actually like inside. The only way my niece could see her dad inside there was to call the local sheriffs department and have them escort her inside so she could take him to the local hospital and get him checked out. When he was checked at the emergency room, he was extremely dehydrated and had to be given fluids through an I.V. I wouldn't want my worst enemy there, much less someone I cared about.

!!!WARNING!!!!!!!!!! DO NO BRING YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!!! Terrible service!! New owners and COVID have run this place into the ground. Employees purposely ignore phone calls, which is ridiculous because there are always at least 3 or 4 employees smoking cigarettes out back every time we stop by to see my grandmother through the window because we can’t go inside the facility. My grandmother can hardly move and isn’t being taken care of properly. When my great grandmother was here about 6 years ago, it was a wonderful nursing home.... NOW it’s like they enjoy ignoring the patients and their families. It’s almost unbelievable that medical professionals work there.... especially since they are the only ones allowed in and out of the building, and they brought a Covid outbreak into the nursing home. I understand that it’s hard work, but there is no excuse for this. I will be reporting the entire establishment to the Board. Update: My grandmother was rushed to the hospital because she was in sepsis from a UTI that we continuously asked the nurses to check for. She was also severely dehydrated and the nurses at the hospital told us that there was no way she should have ended up in this condition. They said that she also hadn’t received proper oral care in a long time. Her mouth was disgusting!! My grandmother can’t move! And no one was even cleaning her mouth. Her nails on her feet and hands were severely overgrown and her toenails had become ingrown. They also asked how long it had been since she had been given a bath because she was so dirty. NEVER LEAVE YOUR LOVED ONES HERE!!!!

When I go to Sunplex where my loved one is there seems to be a very satifying residents. The smell when you walk thru the door is not like alot of nursing homes. it smells more like home, very clean and organized. The nurses are very nice, neat, and clean. They smile alot and really show compassion towards the people. I never saw any mistreatment or neglect there. The food is healthy and satisfying. I think they are doing the best they can and I am very happy with Sunplex #1. I have been a volunteer worker for many years and I rate this nursing home as a very home like atmosphere. It is close to home too. Thank-you Sunplex workers for doing your job!

OMG! Granny fell last month and had to go to the Sunplex for their rahbilitation 'cause she broke her hip. They were just super. She got the therapy she needed and good nursing care. She just came home this week and is so happy to be completely better. Thank you Sunplex, I will sing your praises wherever I go!
