"Bethany Manor is really good, and they got a lot of really good helping staff. It's a new addition on to the building there, and it's a brand new and nice building. My wife is with another occupant, and their room is a pretty good size and plenty big enough. They have a couple of physical therapy rooms and different exercise things. They have dieticians and people checking and testing how my wife is able to swallow different food which she won't have trouble swallowing. There's a nurse practitioner who can prescribe medications, take blood, and take it down the lab to be tested. "

"Eastern Star cared for my grandmother in her final years on this side of eternity. They were good to her there. She went from assisted living to the Alzheimer's unit while living there, as her dementia increased. My only complaint was they moved her over too soon, in my opinion, so that someone else could have her private room (opinion may not be fact). In general, the staff was great, and her years there were good. "

"The apartments are nice and require no buy in. The staff is helpful and very friendly. You receive that small town care and friendliness, as if you are family. The staff call to check on you every day and are on call for emergencies. They are connected through an underground hallway with the Nursing Home. When my father was in the home, my mother could walk over to visit him without worrying about the weather. I would recommend the Madrid Home Community to anyone looking for care in Central Iowa. "

"We found Polk City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for my brother. It's a care center also. He's been there probably about five weeks now. His situation has improved. The skilled care there has been exceptional. They've really helped him improve his situation. He's much better than he was when we first took him in. I'm very impressed with the staff. He is on Medicaid, so his room is a typical Medicaid room. It's a little bit bigger than what we have looked at other places. It meets what we expected. The food seems fine; I know he's very, very happy with it. The place is very clean. You can tell that they try to keep the public areas, the sitting areas, and everything clean."

"My husband was at The Bridges at Ankeny, and he received excellent care. I was very happy with the care, and I was especially happy with their discharge planning because they were very clear about what his needs were and that kind of thing. They have a very nice and wonderful staff. My husband was on soft food, and they had to grind up all the food and everything. He was on a special diet, and as far as I could tell, it was fine. But my husband didn't like having to be on a special diet. His room was private, and it was good. The facility was beautiful, very well kept, and new. I didn't see any activities, and my husband didn't want any. But he did have physical therapy, so that kept him occupied. Medicare paid for this at this point because he came from a hospital."

"My mother is quite happy at Accura Healthcare of Ogden. The staff has been very good. They have done a great job with her. She has a very nice private room, which is a studio type. It is home for her. They offered speech and physical therapies. They have a game room, and they play cards a lot. They have a TV or movie room. I had problems with the administrator, but other than that they have done a good job. The facility itself is old, but it still serves its purpose. It is nice, but it is an old building. It's all paid for by insurance. If you have been vaccinated for COVID, you can just go in, but wear a mask."

"Sunny View Care Center is a small facility. The staff was very helpful. They were very willing and very able to answer questions. They were pleasant. They seemed like they wanted to connect and fill out what the person needed. However, it wasn't quite as neatly kept. Not that it didn't look like they weren't able to do the job, but I felt more comfortable over at the other place. The first thing I walked into was a cafeteria. It was nice. It wasn't dirty. But it was more hectic and congested because it was smaller than the other place."

"We're waiting to move into Mill Pond Senior Living, they have so much to offer, and it's a big complex. No one compares to them, they have lots of activities, and they put out a monthly schedule. It has a nice atmosphere. They have movie nights. The staff was very good, they answered all our questions, and they gave us a tour that lasted quite a while. The independent living part that we're moving into is brand new. It's a 4-story building, and there are a lot of people living there."

"I visited Martina Place. It's a Catholic place, so they did have religious activities for their residents. It's very new and very lovely. It also seemed very clean. The staff was very helpful too. They have this pod level system wherein they have small groups of 10 rooms around a small dining area. Each little area is separate from others. The idea is you wouldn't have these long hallways. When we were there, we didn't see anybody out. It was 1:30 in the afternoon though. "

"The reason that I chose Bishop Drumm is because they accept Title 19 and he is an Alzheimer's patient and they had a vacancy. I'm really happy with them and my husband is content. He still says some stuff like "Can I go home with you?" and then he chuckles because he understands now that he's got to stay there which is just such a relief that he is happier there. Once in a while, he would go to play bingo. I don't think it was enough to keep his mind occupied and active. It is nice and comfortable. It is one of the cleanest ones that I visited which was important to me because my husband is a clean freak and so am I. It's just an average place, it's not fancy. The staff has been very good to work with, very helpful. There's that one girl that instead of getting up and seeing what the person wants, she hollers at them. But the one girl doesn't work all the time anyway. The caring that they give to my husband is just unbelievable. They treat him like a loved one. "

"My mother was in skilled rehab for a couple of weeks. She always had positive comments about the staff and her care. Therapy worked with her everyday until she was ready to go home. "
