We found Polk City Nursing & Rehabilitation Center for my brother. It's a care center also. He's been there probably about five weeks now. His situation has improved. The skilled care there has been exceptional. They've really helped him improve his situation. He's much better than he was when we first took him in. I'm very impressed with the staff. He is on Medicaid, so his room is a typical Medicaid room. It's a little bit bigger than what we have looked at other places. It meets what we expected. The food seems fine; I know he's very, very happy with it. The place is very clean. You can tell that they try to keep the public areas, the sitting areas, and everything clean.

Deadly

My loved relative did not always receive desired care. Needed help eating not always provided, broke hip within first week. At times could wait 30 minutes or more to answer call light even if you located a staff member. My relative ended up with sepsis, dehydration and on life support because nursing didn't follow through when they were running a fever. Kept telling us they were fine and they were monitoring them. Sorry there are some nice aides there but they don't have enough staff as most nursing centers. Keep your loved one home and hire in help. They will then get the individual care they deserve.

My brother has been at Polk City for about 5 years now, he loves the staff and says the food is really good. My brother and his wife joined our brother for a Thanksgiving dinner they said the food was excellent. My brother loves all the activities and we have had no issues with his stay so far.

I would tell you not to take your people there! Mom has been bruised by the aides on 3 different occasions, 2 requiring the hospital. I had to BEG for the mold to be cleaned from the air conditioner. it takes long times for call lights to be answered, roomate laid on floor for 25 minutes before the light that my mother pulled for her was answered.
