Nursing Home Communities in Dale, IN

"After making it nearly 70 years living independently my great-grandmother finally has had to move to a community that can better care for her. She moved into Oakwood about 3 years ago. The first time I went to visit her I didn't exactly expect to be wow'ed by her living conditions. Most similar places I've been in our area seem to be little more then places to house the sick and dying. The first thing I noticed in Oakwood was the feeling that I was in more of a community instead of a hospital type setting. The main lobby is nicely decorated, the grounds are well kept, and there seemed to be plenty of commons areas with people actually using them playing cards. I didn't find my grandmother bed-ridden in her room but had to use one of the helpful employees roaming the halls to direct me to an area where she and some of her new friends were playing cards. From numerous other wonderful visits I can say that Oakwood Health Campus is definitely leagues above pretty much every other assisted living community in this area. Everything from the staff to the amenities is top notch. "

"I'm at The Waters of Rockport. It's only temporary. I wanted it to be long-term, but I make too much for Medicaid and not enough for private pay. What I like least is the food and the best is the level of care. I like the nurses. The nurses keep an eye on you. The CNAs are always there to help. It's very clean. They're always cleaning. They have quite a few housekeepers. They play dominoes, they bring around cats, and they have exercise, gospel singing, music, and church. They have quite a few activities. I'm in a semi-private, and it's not very big for two people."

"These people are phenomenal! They go above and beyond helping their patients and their family. The facility and staff are excellent. I could not say enough nice words about the care they provided my family member while receiving rehabilitation and needing a couple of months of 24 hour care."

"Woodlands Care Center was clean. My father-in-law got plenty of attention. There were lots of folks around popping in and checking on him now and again. He had three different therapists who were working with him on different rehab activities for swallowing, walking, and occupational therapy. The facility was busy. They had a lot of patients, but the staff seemed very adequate. On the downside, they have a lot of equipment that they keep in the hallways. The hallways were plenty wide enough to accommodate it, but a lot is going on in the hallways between the equipment and the people coming out of their rooms for observation like the area near the nursing stand. When they're eating a meal, the residents are somewhat supervised because they have a swallowing issue like my father-in-law did, so plenty is going on in the hallways. The staff was very friendly and very helpful though. He was on a soft foods diet and he ate all his meals there, which isn't always the case at home."

"Golden Living Center is very nice, very clean, and they have good meals. My sister has Alzheimer's and she seem to be well taken care of and very happy. She still wants to come home, but that's normal. The staff seem to be excellent. I'm there at least once a week. "

"My mom has been in The Village at Hamilton Pointe Assisted Living for two months now. She is in assisted living there. It's nice, neat, and clean. It's a fairly new facility. It's less than 10 years old. The staff out there is really good. They seem to be taking very good care of my mother, and I have zero complaints. They answered my questions. When we were trying to get Mom on Medicaid, they were very helpful in helping me work through all that paperwork that is required for that. They're just all very friendly. There are two people in the room, and they keep the room tidy. It's got nice furniture in it. The person who lives in a room has plenty of room for their clothing and whatnot. They each have their own TV. I haven't tried the food myself, but my mom likes her food, and she is picky. They had a Halloween party for them this past weekend. They usually hit all the holidays. They have a little something for them. They have bingo regularly. I see residents playing bingo in one of the dining halls. They do try to keep them somewhat busy. The whole facility is fairly new. Everything seems to be in good shape. Everything seems to work like it's supposed to. The housekeepers are always out during the daytime and visible. They come in, they clean the room, and they mop floors. It looks like they're trying hard to take good care of it."

"My mom is in Owensboro Care Center. It is an old facility. The building itself is probably 60 years old. The rooms are small and cramped. The care overall is lacking. I think they're understaffed. If there was more staff there, my mom would be able to have a diaper change every two hours like they're supposed to do. "

"My mom was in the facility after getting Covid. She previously was in the hospital and another long term facility. Like most hospitals they ship you out to quick. The facility that she went to has since been bought out by another company. They discharged her to early and sent her home without even one bath or shower. So I got mom home and realized she needed more help. I was referred to Newburgh Healthcare and sent mom after a few days at home due to weakness ant fully rehabilitated. I can’t say enough great things about Newburgh Healthcare. The best thing is the staff cares at Newburgh Healthcare. They are privately owned and management cares. The nursing staff was very nice to mom and the CNAs were her angels caring for her daily. They would give her a bath each day and help her get dressed and go to the bathroom. The dietary staff made great meals and snacks everyday. The housekeepers kept her room and facility looking so good. If you are looking for a facility for rehabilitation for weakness or post surgery this is the place. It’s also a great place for a loved one for long term living. The therapy staff treats rehabilitation patients and long term patients like family. Newburgh Health Care has given mom another chance to live at home with family but in the future I know she has another family in Newburgh Healthcare. Again thank you Newburgh Health Care for being Moms Angels!!!"

"My sister has been staying at Majestic Care of Newburgh for almost a year now. It seems like a pretty nice place. They make sure the residents know their rights. They had the equipment to accommodate her, and I have always had good interactions with the staff. She shares her room with another resident. They have activities for them, and they bring in people. They brought in little horses one time for the residents. For the holidays, they have something where the family can come. They had some Easter egg hunting, but they would use cookies for the family and the residents. They have a courtyard where they take the residents out."

"River Pointe is more like independent living. Their apartments have their outside entrances. Residents have their own cars and things like that. The facility is overall nice. I probably would recommend it to others. It is just not for my half-sister. It is also expensive. "

"My father in law was a resident here. The nurses an CNAs were all very sweet to him. The staff seems like a close family and work well together. The room was clean. The food was excellent and there was plenty of activities for him to do. When he was in therapy, the therapy team treated him with respect and patience. I would highly recommend the Hermitage!"

"Carmel Home is a bigger, cleaner and newer facility than where my mom is in right now. Their environment was more home-like and it didn't have an antiseptic smell to it when I visited. It was also brighter and the furnishings were newer. Their rooms were bigger. There were also more private areas that you can go and actually visit instead of always having to visit at a nurses station or in a crowded hallway. There was also more individual care there. "
