I was admitted as a rehabilitation patient that had no weight bearing restrictions due to major ankle surgery. Upon being carried in on a stretcher, a nurse met me BEFORE I got to my room to let me know they only have two nurses and three techs (if on a good day) with 51 rooms! This immediately gave me anxiety! Here’s what I discovered: 1. The nurse was truthful! 2. You ring for help and there is no intercom system, only your light comes on outside. Once rung, there is no way to get their attention. 3. None of the beds have bed rails (because they are not a “hospital” was the reason. Not do they have oxygen access in the rooms (same team), they can bring oxygen into a room. 4. At all three meals, before and after, the staff is getting patients back and forth to the room, so pray you don’t need help during those times. 5. Every night I spent, at least one patient fell out of bed (I know at least two nights, an ambulance had to be called as a result!)! 6. Only one nurse, Angela, came in on night shift and was an angel. She was in there every four hours with my pain medication so that the pain didn’t get too bad, which is what needed to be done all along. 7. Several times I would ring for a nurse to help get me to the bathroom (since being non-weight bearing) and waited for many minutes. Once I rung and waited over 30 minutes, called the main number to which I got no answer, called back and got option to select 2 for nurses desk which I did. It rung several times until someone answered, I told her what I needed, and she said “I will get there as soon as I’m able!@! I waited fifteen more minutes and decided I had to do it myself. I went from bed to knee scooter to wheelchair to the bathroom to which in transferring, my foot hit the floor. Afterwards, I pulled the “red emergency light” to which I waited fifteen minutes and knew I had to do the same. Got into my room, foot on recliner chair and exhausted and in pain. The nurse comes in and sees what I did and loudly said “you are non-weight bearing!” and I replied “Yes! I know!!”! I know of situations where others waited for help and had to do the same I did, find your own solution or sit in soiled/wet clothes for 45 minutes or longer. Is any of this excusable! NO! As I told several, if you know you have such a short staff, don’t take new patients or shut down and move patients to where they would get decent care!! You cannot take patients and then tell them how short-staffed your facility is and then prove how badly inadequate you are!!! Their “star rating” blows my mind!! If I could go negative stars, I would!! This facility needs to be checked (without advanced notice)! The food that was left from one day was given the next day, next day, until gone. If it was to go to your room, it was always cold because it was not brought to you until they were done with those in the cafeteria! PLEASE PUT RAILS ON THE BEDS SO THAT PEOPLE DON’T FALL OUT!! Please only take the number of patients you can adequately care for, not the number of beds!! This experience was very hard for me, and I’m not talking about because of the surgery!

We toured Woodmont Health Campus. The staff was definitely the thing I like the best. The thing I like the least is that it was a bigger facility. I like the small facility. The staff had a lot of responsibilities, so they were managing quite a lot. The food was amazing. There was variety, quality, and nutritive value. The facilities are well-maintained and spacious. They have tons of activities that go on. The activities director is constantly working to bring new things in and make it exciting for the residents.
