Nursing Home Communities in Muscle Shoals, AL

"Cypress Cove Care Center is closer to our home. It's a nice facility. It seems like they take care of the patients. It's clean and kept up nicely. My mother-in-law is in rehab there now. The staff seems nice and caring. She seems to like them. To me, from what I've seen, the food looks good. But she's kind of a picky eater, and she doesn't eat a lot. Right now, my mother-in-law is in rehab, so she is not able to do anything, but they take them out to the mall, they have games to play there, they have a movie night where they go into the dining room, and they have movies and have popcorn, stuff like that. It seems like they have different activities that they do. They have a salon. They have a lady that comes in twice a week, and they get their hair cut or put a conditioner in. My mother-in-law is supposed to get a haircut last Wednesday, but the lady didn't come."

"My mother is going to move into Brentwood Retirement Community. It's a small facility that has about 32 residents. The resident-to-caregiver ratio is very low, so we think that she's going to get the attention she needs at that location. Their facilities are adequate. They're not modern or beautiful, but they will meet the needs of my mother. She is going to be in a suite. It's fairly large and it will accommodate the furniture that she needs. I think she'll be comfortable there, but we would have to provide the furniture. They have musical programs like singing. They have bingo and church services. They have a variety of programs there. It's an older facility but it seems to be well-maintained."

"Everybody that I had an interaction with at Keller Landing were very friendly and helpful. There were nurses, the caseworker that was showing us around, and a couple of ladies in the business office. They have an outdoor space and an activities room. The facility didn't seem as clean. Saw a couple of bugs crawling on the floor, and a few different things. It wasn't terrible, but it is a very old facility, so they can't really improve on the facility itself as far as that goes because it's an old building, but mainly they need to make sure it feels a little cleaner. The walls were kind of dented and needed repainting. It just needs an upgrade."

"Mitchell-Hollingsworth has been one of the nicest nursing homes in this area for decades. They've made vast improvements over the years as most nursing homes thankfully have. This past spring, my sister stayed there for a few weeks following a hospitalization. There is no unpleasant odor in the facility and the rooms are nice, clean and comfortable.The building design of Mitchell-Hollingsworth is very lovely and I'm happy to see how well they are keeping it up. The entrance to the nursing home is a large rotunda with a waterfall. Residents can visit there as well. The nursing home has an area for dining if residents want to socialize at mealtime. There is also a library, and a recreation room for socializing. Several entertainment acts come there regularly and perform in the recreation room. There is a lovely garden in the center of the building where residents and guests can visit as well. I appreciate that they have a safe enclosed area where you can be outdoors as well "

"My husband was in rehab here for a couple of months and received excellent care. The staff was very supportive and worked not only with their patients but provided the caretakers up-to-date information to be sure they were well informed of the progress of the patients. I highly recommend Glenwood and know others who have been in convalescent care there and hear good reports from them also. "

"I cannot say enough good things about this facility. My Mother was a resident here and received respite care for almost two months before she passed away. Those assigned to her care were compassionate, caring, and prompt in making sure her needs were met. The Physical Therapy staff was AMAZING, coming in even after it was known that she couldn't assist/complete the PT tasks - they were coming to check on her and her well-being, as well as the family's well being. Administrators, nurses, doctors - everyone at this facility put the care of their residents first. When it was known that she was in her last days on Earth, the staff went above and beyond by providing accommodations for the family to stay with her overnight - bringing in pillows, sheets, and even a couple of roll away beds. I cannot say enough good things about this facility. "
