Avante at Concord

My brother is at Avante at Concord. He has been there for two weeks now. They provide high flow oxygen therapy, and that was the key thing. Most of the places do not have that. My brother says the food is excellent, too. Regarding the building, it is old. The inside is nice, but the outside is not. They have a very nice courtyard. And they have daily activities. They do bingo, church services, and gospel music. They do outdoor stuff but I'm not sure what it consists of.

My husband was sent to this facility to rehab from back surgery. He was there for 4 days. They scraped his leg on the wheelchair. He was dropped in the bathroom. Took them 2 hours to call ambulance. The so called scrape was quite large and deep..mersa..he died a couple days later. Beware of this awful place.

I visited this facility while assisting a client in finding long term nursing home care. The facility is generally clean in appearance, but with some slight odors in the air. I saw an adequate number of staff during our visit, but did not see any who were addressing residents in a more personal way. The atmosphere felt more like the staff were "doing their job" and not as if they were enjoying their job. The activities calendar at this facility seemed adequate, but not overly impressive. It seemed as if most of the activities took place at the same time of day, not giving many options to those residents who might prefer a different schedule. Overall I just was not very impressed with this facility. I cannot pinpoint anything that was particularly wrong with it, but it just lacked that home like feel that I would want someone to have if they were moving in long term. I'm more neutral on whether or not I would recommend this one and rather, would suggest that someone visit the facility for themselves and see if the more "personal touch" that some other facilities might offer was ultimately important to them. My client did not end up making the decision to stay at this facility and rather, chose another in the area.
