Seniors and disabled people: STAY AWAY FROM THIS PLACE!!! Very poor and rude management that cares only about money and never helps the residents. There has been an infestation of the ENTIRE building of COCKROACHES and BEDBUGS for over 3 years. The Staff never apologizes to us residents for the Roaches and dirt that make our lives miserable. A major Pipe broke TWICE and the lobby and first floor was flooded with water ankle deep and residents had to leave the building and stay in a hotel at their own expense. Again, no apologies. There have been 5 so called 'Managers' in 1 year and no one takes responsibility for getting things done. If you ask about your rent, you are intimidated and told 'GET OUT!!!! If you don't like it." Staff is always behind their 'sliding glass door' telling you that they are 'busy' or ask 'what do you want'? if you ask when they will exterminate. Extermination takes TOO long to come and you are asked to completely dismantle your bathroom and kitchen and are forced to wait WEEKS before the exterminator arrives. Cockroaches CLIMBING the walls in the halls, laundry rooms and beauty salon. If you are disabled and need help with these preparations, NO help is offered and you are on your own. Lastly, the elevators are constantly BREAKING DOWN and people in wheelchairs cannot get upstairs to their rooms. Ohav is a dangerous and dirty place and poor people are trapped and cannot afford to leave. The Management knows this and doesn't do much to help the residents forget their poverty and disabilities. DO NOT MOVE HERE!! Miserable, dirty place, very mean and threatening Management if you complain.

My father is a resident here. Please do NOT get fooled by the phony smiles from office staff and pretty walls. There is no Compassion,i.e.extremly dangerous icy parking lots in the winter. There is no ear to hear any does regarding a barking fog or loud arrogant resident. The office I.e.Stacy does nothing to even try and remedy any situation and the manager Kelly will smile you to death and say ",She will think about it",if you have a concern. We are looking for a safer, kinder, more loving environment for our dad.Nothing but gossiping and filth in a multi-million dollar renovated Dining area.We are heartbroken.I give Ohav NO points.

I moved out about I months ago, right before the remodeling began. When you entered the building, the staff was in a room with a locked doors and a sliding glass window. Kind of like a convenience store/gas stationn in the South Bronx. What were they afraid of? The staff was competent but not friendly. When they have a perceived problem with you, they use intimidation to try and keep you in line. If you have a problem with a neighbor, they are not interested. They tell you to call 911. Although they allow small dogs, if someone doesn't pick up after his dog, they blame all dog owners. They threaten to throw people out even when they are not causing the problem. Some people are poor and this kind of treatment just upsets innocent people. If you can afford to, look elsewhere.

I'm going to be moving into Ohav Sholom Apartments. The staff is very competent. The price of course is the deciding factor as well as the cleanliness of the facility. I'll be on the 6th floor. It's a 1-bedroom unit and very spacious. There is ample transportation to all local areas like, grocery stores, banks; all within very close proximity. This is an independent living option, and I'll be doing all my own cooking, etc. There is a small grocery store on site for any eventuality that you may need and there are also laundry facilities. Everything is right there.

I feel that Ohav Shalom is a very good facility for seniors in relatively good health. The elevators always work, the staff is never rude (but they could be more friendly) and the interior and exterior of the building are always kept in good repair. It is extremely convenient to the synagogue and not too far from everything else you need, such as healthcare offices and shopping opportunities. I especially appreciate that they have a beauty specialist come to do hair styling for the women residents. My grandmother has always taken pride in her appearance and this is a nice amenity to provide.
