Simply exceptional. Entire staff were very polite and most importantly patient, caring with my "sometimes" complicated grandfather. My grandfather is currently in acute rehab same building and still experiencing wonderful care.they are determined to help a patient go home strong/healthy. Thank you to all of you! D Cochran, RN Karren, Hazel, Jessica and so many more. God Bless you all and may you continue to have the strength and heart to deal with with the many different difficult patients that come your way

My name is Toni and my friend Theresa's husband Kenny was hospitalized on June 21st and was put on a ventilator. Then on the 5th of July they took him into surgery and put in a trache and feeding tube, so before they transferred him to kindred my friend Theresa and myself came to kindred and et with Debbie the patient advocate and she gave us a tour of their facility and when we were done with the tour I was completely comfortable with my choice. Then on the 8th of July he was transferred to kindred longterm acute care facility on Flamingo. Well since he has been there they have allowed my friend's wife Theresa to bring one of her dog's to see him which made him extremely happy since he hasn't seen his dogs in a month. His case manager Sharon, the entire nursing staff from the DON Debbie, to every RN, CNA, all of the respiratory team, the dietary team, and the rehab team has done everything to ensure his recovery. Then on the 26th of July they even allowed for my friend and her husband to renew their wedding vows. So I just want to say thank you from the bottom of my heart!!!!!!!!

I live in Texas and my Brother is a patient there. They have been wonderful and so helpful in keeping up with me. They are very patient with me as I try to call and check on him pretty often and they do whatever I ask. The patient advocate even took her cell phone to his room and FaceTimeed me since he has really bad hearing. And I was able to talk to him.

I cannot speak to the day to day experience for residents since COVID has resulted in no possibility for family checking on things but there were several serious breaches in failure to report information, including that our family member contracted COVID at the facility (discovered when calling the DON in response to another incomplete communication). Absolutely limited follow up and the doctor assigned to our family member was very difficult, patronizing, and failed to make it possible to ensure best outcome. We were, if it is possible, relieved to have a transfer back to hospital (which says a lot).

After speaking to Debbie, we drove 2 hours to come see the facility and when we arrived she was in a meeting. Fine. We could wait. But the woman at the door, with the ADMISSIONS sign on her table was unnecessarily rude, ill-mannered, and provided no help or information in the slightest. She was visibly annoyed because she could not hear me and my mother when we were speaking to her, but we were both wearing masks, as was she, but she still put her hands up to stop us to keep us a good 15 feet from her instead of the regular 6 feet that makes sense. We asked if she could give us any business cards, or information or brochures or help of ANY kind because we were trying to find a long term facillity for my Dad who has to be transferred from the hospital on Tuesday so it was important and we were definitely considering their facility, and she said again rudely that she had no information at all. Really? Could you really not give us a quick overview or run-down of how many rooms you have or how many doctors, or if you accept Medicare, or ANYTHING? You mean to tell me that you know absolutely NOTHING about the faility that you are employed at? Ok great. Thanks for nothing. And then as we walk away, she yells out Sorry! Never have I met such an ill-mannered, inconsiderate, rude, completely immature and ignorant person in my life! Guess there's one more facility to check off our consideration list. If they treat regular people/civilians like crap, how can I trust that they don't treat their patients the same, or worse even?

I was in this facility last year (Feb. & Mar). I was there because I broke my right knee. I had a couple other issues 1. Sprained left ankle, & 2. re-injured right arm (only 30% usable before fall, after maybe 10%). These left me with 1 usable limb. PT came the second day to see if I could slide on a board to a wheel chair, since I couldn't they left me there for almost a week, without any PT or OT. I was also left to use a bed pan. I had turn over on my right side, extremely painful because of the injury to my right arm (I grinned and bared it.) I am diabetic so I don't use heavy drugs (damaging to kidneys etc). I knew I had to use something, so I used non-narcotic and norco once a day. To get a bed pan was EXTREMELY difficult. First the call button- they would answer and shut it off- I would tell the I needed a bed pan, then they would disappear for 15 to 20 minutes, this went on for about 45 minutes. Finallly they would put me on the bed pan. (by this time the process would take less than 5 min.) so then the process of getting off. Here again it took anywhere from 45 min. to an hour to get off. There were times that it took 3 hours to get, and another 3 hours to get off. Meaning I sat in my own extrament FOR 3 HOURS). At one point while waiting, the nurse said "you have a diaper on don't you?- Why don't you use it". HOW INSULTING CAN YOU GET??????? They did not have a diabetic diet, they just balanced with insulin. Food was OK. Nurses were mediocor to rotten. I have an algery to licol, pine-sol, and bleach- cannot have open contain in room-gives my instant hayfever. I have to be out of the room when used, for 1 or 2 hours. Cleaner would come into room, start cleaning, I would start coughing, have to get into wheel chair (this involved a crain) and several nurse calls, which I kept getting worse. They had a sign on the door NO CHEMICALS, BUT SINCE MOST OF THEM COULD NOT SPEAK ENGLISH, LET ALONE READ IT) it got ignored the sign. Since I live alone (widow-no children-I was 68 years old, at this time-struggling on Soc. Sec.) Also, this was not my first time in rehab. I knew that they might give me 24 hours to make arrangements for my home care at thr earliest) I needed to speak to the Social services. After I was there for 2 weeks, I kept requesting a meeting-to NO avail.-until 24 hours prior to discharge. Could not even get the Caremore worker. Now! I am facing another stay, in rehab, knee replacement! I need to find another place-HELP

They know their job, but I think Kindred Rehab is a little short of personnel. We waited maybe half an hour just to get a bedpan. Most of the time my wife pees on the bed. But they come and clean her up. My wife doesn't have any appetite for anything, so we just send the food back. The food they send is all right, and they have some vegetables on the tray. It looks delicious, but not to her.

My father's experience was abhorrent. The nurses could barely speak English. One of them decided to open his window at 2 am in January, knowing full well he had pneumonia. He was also left in a room without any heat for 3 days. No one woke him up for his meals, if he was asleep when the meals arrived, they would just take them back. He was left anemic for 3 days, and the physical therapists were only available until noon. If he slept during their visit, they wouldn't return later that day. The respiratory therapists were extremely bad. Sometimes, he would be left in a soiled bed for hours, and when they finally did change it, the dirty paper pad and sheets would be thrown in a trash can inside the room, right by the bed and left there until the night janitor came by. My father was kept on 100% pure oxygen for 5 days, resulting in oxygen poisoning and his subsequent intubation. After my father was intubated, he developed respiratory acidosis which turned into metabolic acidosis and resulted in his death 3 weeks later. He wasn't even allowed to see an endocrinologist despite the facility being fully aware of his adrenal gland problems. He was talked into going into an assisted living facility because of the extra care he required after his bout with pneumonia and sepsis. We all thought that he would be receiving better care than at home, not neglect which would in the end cost him his life.
