My husband is in Monterey Park Nursing Center at the moment. The facility looks very nice and they keep it very clean. The care has been great, so far. They're very kind and considerate. I see them often, and they are very understanding of his needs. He's getting exactly the care he needs for the moment. The food that they serve looks good, and they have a good variety.

Warning!!! Do not take your loved one to this facility. Short staff. Staff that act like your a bother and obviously could care less about your needs. Cold food, late meds. No blood sugar checks that are ordered, no diabetic diet. Call lights not answered for 30 min or longer. Ask for water and not brought or acted like it was a inconvenienc. When calling for info on loved one several times nurse desk call not answered. Asked for director and was told she wasn't in and she did not have a voice mail. Message left and call was never returned. Loved discharged "medicare won't pay any more." The ONLY positive was the PT staff. Lastly when talking to director of nursing during Discharge she was rude, uncaring, unprofessional.

My mother was brought in yesterday for rehab to gain her strength. She was in the hosp for almost 2 weeks they got her blood pressure under control with 4 pills a day and blood pressure checked every 4 hrs. Since around 2 yesterday she got her meds at midnight and nothing today and BP taken once. She was also a fall risk at the hospital and now they want her to walk around alone. I called and asked for someone in charge and was told to call back in 30 minutes they are in a meeting.

I just transferred my Mom out after 2 weeks, should have done it immediately. Staff turnover daily, most are agency and have no real say in the care. No intake or care plan. No one answers phones at night, patient room phones only work part of the time. Ancient medical equipment. No communication if they change meds. Rooms are dark and dingy. There is very little that was positive.Do not send your loved one here.

We love Monterey Park Rehabilitation & Health Care Center. It's very nice and the grounds are pretty. The nurses are attentive and kind to my mom. It's clean and smells nice, which I think is important. The food is really good. My mom says the food is delicious and she's very picky. The portions are big and it comes hot too. I've tasted a couple of bites and it's good. Her room is clean and large. It has nice bay windows that look out onto the courtyard with flowers. So, it's pretty out there. They have a salon and other amenities as well.

March 1, 2019 * * * * * Jan B I’m sure anyone could agree that end-of-life care decisions can be the most difficult to make of any in our everyday lives. And everyone’s situation, whether personal or that of our loved one, has to be uniquely different. But when we needed it most, the staff at Monterey Park, from the top to the bottom, stepped in to provide all that could possibly be expected of anyone outside of our mother’s own concerned family. We found them ready and willing to find solutions to any concerns…always helpful (even when circumstances stretched them very thin), with heartfelt attention to resident needs. And even when our requests sometimes went beyond the call of duty to address day-to-day experiences they worked with us to meet those needs and often considered and implemented change. Our 97 year old mother, though not a willing participant at first, settled in to her new digs and situation with reasonable grace, but not without many care worker’s and staff member’s continual support and efforts to help her feel like part of their family. And because of our acceptance and hers, mom quickly came to feel cared for and loved by all those around her. There will always be times or circumstances when things don’t go as planned or even as needed…can anyone not identify with that? But we always found that recovery time for any lapses at Monterey Park was swift, effective, caring and sometimes very creative. They cared for her heart as well as her limbs, and for that we will always be thankful.

I can't say enough positive things about Monterey Park. Our father was placed there after breaking his hip for two weeks of rehab. As a family, we are known to be very passionate about our loved ones and their medical care and are very "hands on" with making sure that our loved one receives the best of care. We were never disappointed with the staff at Monterey Park. The facility is very nice, always looks and smells very clean. The food is offered from a menu and is restaurant style. There are many choices and the food is very good. All of the staff, from sanitation workers, kitchen staff, certified nursing assistants, physical therapists, nurses, and doctors are over and above any that I have seen as a whole before now. My sisters and I were known to show up at all times of the day from very early, to late in the day. Things were never any different, no matter the hour, and we were always pleased by what we saw between the interactions of staff and residents. If you are on the fence about where to go, choose this facility. I don't believe you will be disappointed with this place!

Monterey Park was mediocre. It was better than the others but not ideal. Cleanliness and the food was OK. There was one time when they criticized my husband because the male aide took him to the bathroom, and he had diarrhea but they did not clean him up.

you can be cold, in pain, needing a bathroom, and have to wait 40 minutes or longer for help.Menu doesn't change. short on number and variety of fruits and vegetables. Food is good, but can't live on salad, especially the same one every day.

Montery was a little far but it was a nice facility. Everyone that received us was very nice and prompt. They gave us the tour and all information. The staff was very nice and full of energy. The place was very nice and spacious. In the rehab section, they had a doctor of rehab who was there when we visited.

My mother spent a month for rehab due to a fracture of her knee cap when she fell. That was 1/2010. I was on site every day for several hours at different times of the day & the attention/care was always loving & immediate. The rehab was excellent. She's now 91 & back due to an intestinal infection. AGAIN, she is receiving fantastic loving care from every member of the staff! I work part time so not able to "be there" as often as the previous visit, but know she is 'in good hands'. The food menu has a daily, every day choice along with a selection that changes & is as flavorful as any restaurant! I purchase a guess ticket & eat with my mother any time I desire.

I like Monterey Park because it is all in one floor. My dad has access to go outside to the sitting areas. The furnishings are newer. The rooms were double rooms, like a hospital room.

The facility received a bad review from the state because they had several deficiencies. Resident care is poor. Both the nurses and CNAs don't pay attention to details in their jobs. I was told by nursing staff that my relative was getting treatment on a regular basis for an illness but it was never done. Please read the state reviews before you decide to place your loved one in that facility.
