Saint Therese of Woodbury is outstanding. I walked through long halls and so on, and I just said, 'I'm home. This is where I want to be.' They have a beautiful chapel there, and they have a swimming pool. Once you passed your swim test, you can swim there full time if you want to. They have a library. The one that I picked out has a library there as well. You can bring your own bookcases and books.
Because they have marvelous donors, they have the balance exercises, they have these huge balls which are about as big as you are. They are huge and they strap onto you, and you learn to balance yourself but you're not falling. They have many other things in the big gym that they have so that everybody can get the exercise that they need as well as a therapy pool at 10:00 in the morning. Everybody goes in the pool then, especially folks with arthritics. The staff said they go in complaining about all this pain and they come out saying they don't have any pain at all. That is such a selling point because I found out just this week that one of my first cousins is going there, and also a best friend from my church, so people are very interested in that. And I asked her what drew her to it, and she said, 'Oh, definitely the pool.' It's saltwater, no chlorine, and it's 92 degrees at all times.
The staff was wonderful. The one that was taking us around and showing us things, said she just loves her job there. She is like, 'I can't imagine doing anything else. I just love this job.' She has memorized the names of 100 and some people so that when they come down the hall, she wishes them a good morning, and she calls them by name, and they love that. We didn't taste the food, but they have a restaurant-style menu which you can draw from. They have a bistro. There's food available there throughout the day. If you should come in too late for your lunch or whatever, you can get food at the bistro. They have a shop that's mostly women's clothes and things, but fancy. They call it Theresa's Treasures. I think everybody there seemed to be very happy to be there. They have a Catholic priest that lives there, so he's available to do mass on the weekends. Plus, they have communion services every day of the week. It's not just for Catholics, it's for all people.
I had seen the menu, and it was fabulous. Just a marvelous assortment of food. It's so great; I can't believe it. We were there around Valentine's Day, and they had a special menu made up for that as well the things that they were going to be doing. They have a theater room that's just beautiful. You can bring in any movie that you might like to see on the big screen and they'll play it.

I visited this facility
We went to Saint Therese of Woodbury and toured the area that they're building new apartments in. They have assisted living and independent living. I like the facility. It's much more open, airy, and newer. The person that assisted me was very professional. She was very good. The dining area looked very nice, light, airy, and open. She took us through the workout area and meeting rooms. They have an area for church services.
