"We toured Oak Ridge Place. What I liked about it was the staff, friendly staff, and very knowledgeable. We were able to meet some, and what is important to us is they have nurses 24/7. We got to meet the person that's in charge of the dining room, which is really nice, and some of the residents. It was just a very pleasant, pleasant place. She took us to three different apartments and stuff, and a very, very nice, very open layout and stuff. I was really very pleased about the way the restrooms were, how much more safe it is for a person to take a shower with all the handles, and the cut out where they don't have to go over a tub, they can just walk into it. It was really nice. I liked the storage area that they had, so it was just a really nice place. They are pet friendly. The maintenance, they're 24/7 also. If you have problems, there's staff there, if you need them for questions. But one of the things that was really nice is that each resident gets one of those alert bracelets or a watch. If something should happen immediately, in the rooms themselves, there's like two or three buttons that they can push for immediate response from the staff there. I love that the mailboxes were indoors and not out. I thought that was really awesome."

"We moved into assisted living here. It's a brand-new building and it has so far been just fine. We're just kind of getting settled in. It's wonderful and it's really nice. The apartments are really nice. The staff is very good. The food and dining setup looks OK. They have a gym and craft room. They have an activities director who's doing a survey right now with all the new residents to see what activities they want. They offer daily grocery transportation and one-day-a-week rides to doctors appointments."

"I moved to Bay Harbor of River Falls. It's wonderful. All the people that live there are very nice, and they have wonderful activities every day. I enjoy it very much. The food is excellent. Yesterday, we had music in the afternoon and bingo. The dining area, they're remodeling it right now, and it's very clean and very nice. I like my room very much. They send somebody in once a week for 15 minutes to do the floors, the sink, and the bathroom."

"I fell in love with Villas at Pleasant Avenue II, the independent living facility I visited in Burnsville. If I could have qualified, I would have moved into it. The apartment itself was excellent. It was a brand new building, and everything was done in a way that would be convenient, including the underground parking, the other amenities in the building, and the shared spaces. The apartment was a nice size. It was brand new and perfect. The people who worked there were also extremely pleasant."

"I went to Ecumen Seasons at Apple Valley. The place had a very welcoming atmosphere from the time I walked in and every time I contacted them and went back subsequently. Since my mom lives in Florida, I had to take pictures to bring down to her and show her. They are very accommodating and able to walk through what I want. And the neighborhood just felt like what she wanted to live in. They offer one-bedroom apartments. There are lots of different daily activities. There are things if she needs it, like the meals if she wants it. It just fit for what we were looking for. And we're not paying for things that she currently doesn't need. That was one of my biggest things. I didn't want to pay for meals if my mom wasn't going to use them. And that was the other one I had that was included. It was more expensive and we couldn't opt out of the daily meals, which I'm like well, she's not going to eat. She still cooks for herself."

"Havenwood of Burnsville seemed very, very pleasant. Everybody was friendly. I particularly enjoyed the amenities that were available. It was part of the rent. You get two meals a day and weekly light housekeeping. I got a tour by one of the managers there, and she was very professional. She took down all the information I was looking for and what my situation was. She gave me a tour of about four different apartments. She was very, very professional. They had like four different sized one-bedroom, which was plenty of space for me, no matter which one. I'd probably be more interested in a smaller end because I'll be alone. It seemed very neat and clean and everything was in its place. Plus, you had different rooms for different purposes."

"We chose Covenant Living of Golden Valley. We liked how happy everyone was, the involvement of people in the community, and the interactions that people had with each other. The residents were just interactive, happy, and welcoming. It just depends which room you get. Some have laundry, some don't, and it depends on the size of the room. But one thing about them, there's a buy-in option, but you can redecorate your room how you want it before you move in."

"I toured the Chapel View Senior Health & Living Senior Living Community. I like the fact that I could get assisted care, and I also like the fact that there's a wide range of people. The rooms were nice, clean, and well-kept. The staff who gave the tour was nice. She answered the questions that we had. They have some activities, but I don't know them all."

"The rooms are older and small. The care is moderately good. The biggest complaint is that we purchased new comfortable clothing for him and within a week all but one item we purchased “disappeared” never to be seen again. They also “lost” a sweatshirt that was very dear to him. It is obvious that they randomly distribute clothing to other patients as we often arrived and he was wearing items that were not his own. I would be very wary of this place."

"We moved here in December and are thrilled with our decision. We were welcomed warmly by the other residents and made to feel at home right away. The building is solid, safe, quiet, and very well maintained. The grounds are just beautiful and kept up daily. A smile will get you in anywhere here. An in-house TV station keeps you updated on what's going on daily. I love that they have a well-stocked (by the residents) art & crafts room, a woodworking shop (with a resident who has helped a lot by making and fixing some of my furniture), a knitting room where they make lovely items to donate to charity. A beauty shop, wonderful exercise classes for women and men, and even a little store run by our volunteers opened 3 mornings a week. Games, games, and more games going on all the time. A bus for those who don't choose to drive. And wonderful programming with activities on campus and off regularly. I love having dinner delivered to our apartment at a reasonable price so I don't have to cook every day. Love eating lunch in the beautiful atrium. I'd be more than happy to take you on a tour before you meet our outstanding rental agent if you would like. I love showing our home off to everyone. You can check out the floor plans and more information on the website. "

"Elim Shores is a nice facility. However, there is no dishwasher. They need to update their kitchen. Otherwise, they seem like a nice bunch of people. They don't have meals there. You have to cook your own, which is fine, but the kitchen is kind of small."

"For your money, Cornerstone Assisted Living and Memory Care is probably the best deal. They're significantly lower priced than the two places in Maple Grove. The apartments themselves are as good as the other two, but they don't have some of the fancy stuff. I had a meal there and it was pretty good. The dining area was small. I don't know if that was the time, but it seemed a little crowded when I was there. They had everything I would need. The staff was pretty good at presenting. Of the four I went to, she was probably the best."

"Mom is at Woodbury Villa. The place is very clean. The staff is very friendly. The residents all look out for each other. If you have concerns, they handle those very quickly. I have not tried the food, but I know that there are lots of complaints about it. One of the things I like most about them is the activities. The person behind this program is fantastic. Her name is Sam. There's always stuff going on, and she does a great job. She has an assistant, Melissa. Their price is very good. One thing I don't like about them, though, is that there's been a lot of turnover. The people are all great, but that's just been a little difficult. You get to know somebody and then they're gone."

"I have a friend who's in the assisted living at Stonecrest. She thinks it's a great place, and she very much likes it. I visited her twice in her apartment, and I was out on the patio once on a nice day. They have a nice place in the back. There's a pond there. The people were just so nice. It had a lot of options. The facility itself was very nice. They had a lot of activities going on. It was very well kept up. They had lots of areas where you could go and sit and talk. They had some outdoor space, too. My friend's apartment was a very decent size, and she had what she needed. She didn't have any complaints, but she's only been there for a little bit. I haven't eaten there, but my friend is very happy with the food."

"We have moved my mom into New Perspective Woodbury. It is close to where I am, and that's important. The place seems clean and friendly. They have activities. Like this week, the residents went to one of the local casinos, and a couple of weeks ago, they took my mom on a tour. They had a luau for families and friends, and they had music during that event. The food is good. It is usually fresh. They have a lot of vegetables and fruits. They have very good staff."

"We're moving into Saint Therese Senior Living of Woodbury. The amenities are just phenomenal. It's a Catholic community, which is important to us. It's got a pool, a workroom, and a restaurant. It just has everything. The room is perfect. It's handicapped accessible, which is important for my husband, and it's a two-bedroom, two-bath with a sunroom. What little staff I've met, I've been very pleased, but we haven't met a lot of staff yet. We haven't tried the food, too. We've seen it, and it looked wonderful, but we haven't tried it. Some activities were going on in the craft room, people were working on puzzles, and they got a big theater there where you can watch movies. They had a pianist come in that was playing for the community during lunch hour. This is an all-around nice place."

"We love Oak Meadows. My mother likes the size of the bathrooms, the way the kitchen is laid out, the view out the window of the woods, and the staff. I haven't heard anything negative. She likes the food. It's the most reasonable place if we want to have lunch with her."

"The Waters of Oakdale was exceptionally friendly. The consultants were amazing. They knew their community. They could answer all of my questions. They are pet-friendly. They have a chef-prepared menu. They have different payment plans that you can include different numbers of meals per month, so you aren't excluded from that. Otherwise, they give you 10 meals a month. They have a 50-pound dog limit, which is pretty generous. Their dining room is open 10 hours a day and you can go in any time and get a meal. They have daily OK checks. It's very nice and it's in a nice little location. It's right next to a grocery store. The prices were a little higher than the other place, but there were different amenities as well. We even had a resident greet us at the door."
