My mother has been at Birchwood Senior Living for at least six weeks now. She was there before and she fell and broke her hip. She was in the other building for long-term care. That wasn't working out, so what we wanted to do is get her transitioned back to her assisted living building, and that was what happened. She's got a microwave and a refrigerator. The staff is wonderful. The food is good. They're busy all week long. They take them on adventures. She's been fishing, she's gone to horse races, and they take them on excursions. They take them to Wal-Mart so they can shop. They keep them plenty busy Monday through Friday. They have a porch on the front and then in the back, they have a place for barbeque and there are chairs for sitting outside.

I Would NOT recommend this place to ANYONE - specifically the rehab facility. They continue to mess up on the food they give my grandma. I bought brand new cloths for her, and the very next day a staffer took her cloths to get "labeled and washed", but now a week later I find out her stuff is missing. So she's been sitting in the same cloths for about a week now. This place is unsafe, and I'm looking to get her out ASAP. I seriously fear for her safety and well-being and think the place should be audited / reviewed by the sate or have some entity to re-evaluate it's competency. At this point, there's not one nice thing I can say about this place - not even nice people... they've got poor attitudes.

My mom was at Birchwood and she absolutely loved for nine years before she passed away. Everyone was so good to her and she enjoyed all the activities. I have ate lunch with her and we thought the food was good

i am posting a current review, because all i see here are reviews from quite a few years ago. Many talk about good food, make no mistake the food is God-awful. money spent for food that is turned inedible. unappetizing vegetables, or already browned iceberg lettuce. A lot of distrust, no one will own up to their mistakes. Just a lot of defensiveness if questioned about anything, to the residents. Try and put on a show for the families that they want to know how things are going but then do nothing. or blame the resident. All unfortunate because the apartments are pretty nice, and there are a few caring employees. a volunteer that is amazing. She is an angel for others.

The Birchwood Arbors was really nice. It was a smaller place, so it would be homier for mom. I liked their dining room and their activities. Even my daughter said it was really nice. The only thing that I was a little concerned about is she's got a scooter and a wheelchair, and I got the feeling she might have some problems getting around, although, the portion of the room that she could use to run the scooter in would have no problems actually. It's not really small. It's a bit airy and it's got one bedroom in it. But the lady that they had asked if we could go into her apartment to look at it and to show us what they looked like had a lot of furniture. She had a lot of stuff in there and we would have to cut down some of the stuff for mom. The staff was really nice people. The lady that was in charge was very pleasant. She didn't get pushy although we held her up a little over from the time she was supposed to get off work. I think they have movies and Bingo night. They had a bunch of stuff for the residents to do. I told the lady that I'm trying to get my mother involved because she doesn't feel like doing any of those activities at all. She's got bad memories of nursing homes from her mom and my grandma.

The staff was great. A woman greeted us right when we entered, she was very kind. The food was very good, unlike a lot of other places I have been to. The facilities were very clean and kept up nicely. The residents' rooms were on the larger side compared to other places. The room I saw had a nice big flat screen TV and had some cable or satellite hooked up to it, I do not remember which one. There was plenty of room for family and friends to come visit. The staff was very accommodating and repeatedly asked us if they could get us anything. There were some chairs for people to wait in, but not many. It is not like we would have been waiting very long anyway. The staff greeted us right away. Overall, it is a very nice facility. I would definitely recommend it to others or family members, if the time came.

I had a great experience with this facility. The staff was great and very helpful and polite. As we walked in we were greeted with a smile and offered any assistance. I was then helped to find our family member and never seemed like we were intruding and budging in. As we talked we were offered chairs and water. The food there was great. I have NEVER been to a place with such good staff. I was and still am very impressed with this place and it is number one on my list is the time comes for me to be there. I have toured and had family in other homes and they were not nearly as good as this one. It is highly recommended on my list and the only place that I will go in the near area. The room we were in had a nice flat screen HDTV with directv. There were a few chairs for visiters and a nice bathroom. I liked these rooms a lot better than others that I have been to. They were more roomy and comfortable.
