My husband moved into Care Suites of Edina by Vivie. We chose them because the resident-to-staff ratio was outstandingly different from everywhere else. They're five to one, and other places are 10 to one. So, it's a very remarkable difference. The staff is outstanding, and the food is average, but the facility is outdated.

We are planning to move my mother into Walker Methodist Care Suites. The setup that they have is they have what they call a pod, and it has five rooms. Each person has their own room but they share a common center where they can sit and visit with each other. Each pod is assigned aides to help with those five rooms, and they're only responsible for those five rooms. The staff was very helpful in giving us all the information that we needed, and they answered questions that I hadn't even thought of. The meal we had there was good. They have a special every day, but they also have a la carte items. One of the things that attracted me here versus the others was that, if my mother lives longer than her money, they have medical assistance. In some of the other places, if she could no longer afford the finance and had to go on medical assistance, she'd have to move, but here, she didn't have to move. They also have a general community room where they do arts and crafts and where they have their church services. They have like five activities going on during the day including exercise, and I saw that they have their own hair salon. It's not as big as some of these other places, it's a smaller facility, but they have a nice sunroom off the lobby, they have a nice sitting room where they show movies and it has a fireplace and things like that.

My husband has been in Walker Methodist Care Suites. They've got good staff and good programs for him. He said the food was good when I asked him. They are full of activities, like exercises and games. They seem quite active. They have a patio too. He is in the care suites, which are a combination of memory care and assisted living apartments.

My mother was at Walker Elder Suites. It was actually located very close to where my mother lived. Their food was very good. The dining room was elegant. It was a very nice place. They had bingo, a lot of music programs, and exercise. The staff was excellent.
