"I was pretty impressed by Covenant Living of Golden Valley Assisted Living and Memory Care. It's a nice place with a lot of space, and they have an outdoor area where they have gardens and so on. The place they showed was pretty good and pretty spacious. The staff was good."

"Sunrise of Golden Valley was beautiful. It's a lovely facility. I thought the setting was beautiful outside. It had a beautiful entrance. The food plan was wonderful. The staff was very good at showing us around and explaining everything. Unfortunately, we cannot use the facility because of my friend's level of care needed. Overall, everybody that we saw in the hall was very friendly. The menu looked wonderful, and the tables were set very nicely. It's a very welcoming atmosphere. I thought the rooms were pretty good. They're very adequate."

"Abiitan Mill City is my favorite. If I wanted to stay in Minneapolis, I would move there. It is located near the river. The streets are lined with trees. There are lots of good restaurants within walking distance. The Guthrie Theater is within walking distance, too. Great transportation is available, from the light rail to buses. The rooms were beautiful with huge windows. They had lovely common spaces, indoors and outdoors. There were lots of arts in the hallways that I found to be very contemporary. There was a lively feeling about the staff and the residents I met. There were many happy people there."

"We chose Southern Oaks Place for our parents because it's a smaller community, which makes it easier for my dad to walk to dinners or to get meals. The other ones were huge. He has a little bit of a problem walking, so this is more intimate. It's very clean. Even though it's along a very busy street, you don't hear the traffic. The grounds were nice. The people were nice. The dining area looked really good. The food had a good selection."

Our house is located in the heart of the city on a quiet corner, where there are parks for our residents to walk to. Each resident has their own private room, fully furnished, including TV. Laundry is done everyday. The entire home is cleaned daily as well. Meals of choice are prepared for our residents, following any diet restrictions they may have. All meals are prepared and cooked fresh daily. NOTE: We do not allow alcohol, illicit drugs or pork. There is a big TV in our living room area where residents can gather to watch shows and movies, as well as converse and socialize. We provide culturally competent care for all clients. "We toured Sunrise of Roseville. There were 45 or 50 people there for assisted living, and everybody was happy. The apartments were very nice, including the one on the ground floor and the back overlooking some parkland and stuff. It has a very nice two-bedroom, and it seemed like a nice size. Everything looks good about it. There's a refrigerator, but no stove because they provide all the meals. They serve three meals a day, and you can get snacks anytime. Breakfast starts at maybe eight, and you can get all day long. They have different menu specials every day, like lunch, maybe noon to one, and then dinner at 5 to 6, but there's also a snack bar where you can pick up popcorn and cookies and other things, and you can pretty much ask for anything, and they'll be happy to give it to you. We had breakfast there and it was great."

"I toured Rose Arbor & Wildflower Lodge. The facility is clean. The people are friendly. The price is very inexpensive. They have got a lot of amenities that they can do. The staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. I like their setup for the bedrooms. They have a nice big bedroom with a nice closet with kitchen amenities. The atmosphere felt serene."

"The people were very friendly, helpful, and explained everything that they'd be doing for my mother. They don't have the amenities that she used to have when she was in a bigger place before. They just have their room and their lunch room. There's a front porch and a back area. They have pots and some plants growing in it. It's just like a little house area; it's a small place. They do different stuff. They do facials. They work out. They have different people come in and sing. They go for walks and do things. They have someone that comes in and cooks their meals. We haven't tried it, but it smelled good. It's just that they have window air conditioners, which we didn't know about when we moved her in there. She keeps unplugging it all the time. Her room gets hot, so we have to call them to go check her air. But I mean, I'm sure there's a lot of places that have that. She unplugs everything and takes the batteries out of everything, so it's not their fault."

"We had my mom ready to go into Cornerstone Assisted Living, but we'd have to put her into memory care there. Having seen other memory cares, it's probably the best one but that's a drastic change, and it's not an environment I would want to put my mother in at this point. It's a very nice community, and the assisted living was beautiful. We toured the assisted area where they have a dining area, a solarium and activities. It was very nice. My mom would have to be sent down into the lower level, which they lock up unless family comes. It's a newer community, but the memory care rooms were pretty small, which my mother doesn't like. They also wouldn't allow pets, and that was a big deal for her too, and that was probably the last straw for her. From what I understand, it's normal for any memory care community."

"Rooms vary from studio to 2 bedrooms. They are nice. There are some newly renovated rooms too. The staff at Roitenberg are wonderful. There are a variety of activities and outings. The aides are very warm and caring. There are nurses available. The housing director is available and extremely helpful."

"Havenwood of Maple Grove seemed very nice. They didn't have the unit that I wanted available. So, I kind of didn't go back there. The rooms were nice. There were some things that I didn't like. There weren't many closets. I didn't meet very many people, but the person who gave the tour was very nice. It was clean."
