My Dad has called Westcourt (now Independence Village), his home for two years now. He had visited this facility with my Mom, about 8 years ago, and (they both) made numerous follow-up visits, as they both were just really in love with the place, (and, as my Dad could forsee their eventual decline). As soon as my boyfriend and I moved to Saginaw from the south five years ago, my dad informed us both that Westcourt/Independence Village, was the place that they absoulutely wanted to go. And my Dad has loved it ever since! (My beautiful mom has since passed). What my Dad loves the most about the facility is the feeling of family and camaraderie (from the staff, as well as from his fellow residents/neighbors), the endless variety of fun and engaging activities, (his favorites being corn hole and balloon volleyball!), the feeling of knowing that all of his needs are met there, and most especially, the wonderful and fantastic meals served three times a day in the elegant and beautiful dinning room with his fellow peers and friends! My dad and I both agree that Independence Village is the best independent living facility in the area!

The staff was very inviting and friendly. Even though I chose not to go with senior living right now, Stella was very nice to me. We sat down and talked about different options, and she invited us over for a meal. We looked at one and two-bedroom units. It was during Covid. They had potential activities, but everything was kind of locked down at that point. They had card tables set up, puzzle stations, and a big dining area. I like the staff the most.

We had a physical tour and I liked it. It's a wonderful place. They did really good. The staff was great. She gave us lots of information. She followed up with us. Then she had a bigger apartment come available, so she called my dad to see if we wanted to come and see that one. She gave him lunch there. It was really good. The bigger room had a full kitchen. The dining area was more like a restaurant. There were lots of tables.

It was beautiful. The staff was very, very gentle, yet nice. The rooms were beautiful. I feel that it's a safe place to live. They had games. The facade was beautiful.

Beautiful rooms and grounds, excellent food, friendly and caring staff, and friendly residents. The residents I spoke with are happy living there. The ONLY negative is that there is only one elevator, which can make it dicey at meal time, when everyone is trying to get to the dining room at once.

The thing I didn’t like was they didn’t have a stove or an adult size refrigerator, so they certainly didn’t want you cooking or anything like that in there. The rooms were probably medium-sized. The dining area was nice. Everyone that I talked to had been very nice. There was a library and a dining room. The room did have a kitchen, but it was miniscule. There was a little refrigerator -- maybe 2 or 3 ft. high -- but no stove and very limited counter space. They definitely don’t want you cooking in there. They want you eating your food down in the dining area.

It was very nice, and I think I’ll probably move there. The rooms are very nice, and the furniture that I have is going to fit. They have an opening now, but I’ll wait for the next one since I'm not in a hurry. I like the area, and it's a beautiful building inside and out.

I’ve met quite a few of the residents here; they are very nice even the people that worked there. The food is wonderful. The one room they showed us was too small; I’d be claustrophobic in it. But the next room that I’m looking is one bedroom, a bathroom, a living space, a space for dining room table or kitchen table and a fully equipped kitchen. I am really interested in there when they get an opening.

My mother is in here and really happy there. It’s very good. They keep her busy. Everything is provided; she gets her hair done and goes to church there. They only have one, small elevator, so maybe they should add more.

I liked it a lot; it was very clean. They had a nice variety of rooms. It had a cottage outside the main facility, which had two bedrooms in it; that was the one I was interested in. The food was good; it had transportation.

It was a very nice place, but my father doesn't seem to want to go that far away from his home. The rooms were very good, and the staff was very nice. Everything was extremely pleasant, and I thought this would be the place he'd go, but he doesn't want to go that far from our hometown.

We found this community, and she's been there, and she loves it. When we toured, the staff was good. They seemed to be responsible. I'd say the room is a fit for her. It's not spacious; it's actually kind of small. They had little bands there. We've seen checkers, chess, and TV when they were socializing. She does her hair there. There was a lot going on.

I had stayed here and it was a very nice place. I would recommend it to anybody looking for something like that, and I am sure everybody would be happy with it. They had good meals. The staff I had seen were pleasant and could carry on a conversation. They had church services. They played bingo and cards, and they dressed up for the holidays, for the fun of it, I guess. They had ice cream socials and all kinds of good stuff.

The room was a one-bedroom with a handicap bathroom, a little living room, and a little kitchenette. The staff were very good, and the food was excellent. The residents were very friendly, and they seemed happy. They could improve, though, on their elevator. They have only one elevator and it’s very small.
