"My aunt is at Southern Plaza Retirement. The rooms are not outrageously priced. They are for the medium to medium-high income level. They're able to get her right next to an elevator, and you don't hear the elevator run at all in her room. It's state-of-the-art. The whole north side of the building is a storm shelter. They can go in there and play movies, music, and games while a storm is brewing outside, and they're perfectly safe. The staff has been extremely helpful and understanding. They're very patient with her and her demands. The food is excellent. I've had lunch with her a couple of times before we got locked out, and I was very pleased both times. They have a refrigerator that's full of snack items that they have access to 24/7. I don't have any complaints at all. We're real happy with it. It fit her financial range really well."

"My brother-in-law hs been in Legend Memory Care at Rivendell since April. It is very nice. The staff is very nice, very caring, and take really good care of him. They seem to serve very good food. They have shared apartments and some private rooms and have activities all of the time. They have a TV area where they can sit and watch movies. The dining room is set up like a nice restaurant with tablecloths and China. They have several sitting areas and an outside courtroom where the residents can go sit outside if they want and still be secured. "

"We visited Concordia Life Care Community. The staff and the apartments were excellent. It's well run and very appealing, but it's quite expensive. The food was excellent. They have wellness centers, so they have lots of exercise available. They have Bridge and continuing education type lectures. It's very active and very new, so it's very organized and very modern. "

"Wonderful and amazing do not even come close to describing how I enjoyed & found peace with mother being at Legend on Council in the Memory Care Unit!! The director and staff are very attentive and loving to each resident. Her apartment was keep very clean day to day. And the meals were very good - served in a nice dining room environment. I also appreciate the organization and effort they made for mom to attend outings. Actual field trips to different locations! I enjoyed the relationship with the administrative and medical staff also. Always there to help, assist, and support! I could continue but this lets you know a little about how excellent Legend on Council is! "

"I moved my mom here after a very unhappy experience at another residence. There is a new director here that we just love love love. Even though we had to wait almost three months to get in, it's been worth the way. I've never met more caring caregivers in my life. The food is very down to earth, home-cooked and unpretencious. (The cook used to be where we used to live and we are so happy that she's here now.) When I pull my call light, someone is usually at my door in 2-3 mintues. wow! I've had to call the front desk to find my mom because it seems when we call, she's never in her room--which I love, but it surprizes me that she is having so much fun. I'm so glad we made the decisionto move. If you're thinking you might need a place for your mom or dad, then don't hesitate to check us out. You won't be disappointed. And mom loves the courtyard for her little dog. We can't be happier. "

"Moving our dad to this facility was the best decision our family could have made. Our mother was caring for daddy but after three years of non-stop devoted care, mother was the one who's health was rapidly declining. We were so focused on daddy and his dementia that we never considered the toll it was taking on mom. It was hard to separate them but now that we've moved him here, mom is finally able to focus on her health and is once again enjoying her friends and spending time doing things she loved. Daddy is adjusting very well and we can't say enough about the care he is receiving, The staff here have been so supportive to all of us and for the first time in years, we are not worried about either one of our parents as we know both are in a healthy situation. "We had an in-person tour of Iris Memory Care of Nichols Hills. It was an excellent visit. The facility was very clean. It looked like there was plenty of help in every option that you would need to care for someone. The people we spoke to were very nice and cordial. It was laid out very nicely and in such a way that they gave optimum health care as needed. The rooms were very clean and well-organized. The outdoor area was clean, all cemented, and wheelchair accessible."

"My friend and her husband are staying at Quail Ridge Assisted Living. They have little plant centers all around the facility where you feel at home. I like the idea that they have indoor parking. They have little patios. The one I was impressed with was an apartment with two beds, two bathrooms, and a kitchen. The living room is just an open area. They have one great big room you can reserve for your family during the holidays. The food was always good. My friend's husband was in a wheelchair. The room was big enough to accommodate a wheelchair. They were able to help him with his personal ADL. They make good drinks. They have outings and everything else. They have a beauty shop, a library, and a computer center."

"The apartment that my sister is getting at The Gardens at Quail Springs is a little more spacious than some of the others that we'd looked at. Also, they had no qualms about her pets. She's got three animals and they were allowing her to keep all of them. They have various levels of assistance, right now, she just needs level one, but should she progress and need more, they have it there. The gentleman was very friendly and informative. He gave us a tour and answered our questions. It could probably be kept a little cleaner, though."

"Dorset Place Assisted Living was nice. It was kind of like the other place. It's clean. The rooms were pretty comparable. I only looked at one room that was available. It was adequate. They had both studios and 1-bedroom apartments. The staff was very good. I got booklets from the place, and they answered all my questions."

"The Fountains at Canterbury was great. The lady had already spent two hours with us, and she had another appointment coming up, so we didn't tour the other facilities like the assisted living. I would recommend their independent living facility. The model rooms that we looked at were under renovation from people that had just moved out. The staff was very friendly, very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very professional. It had a little pond and fountains outside. It's landscaped very good. We went straight to the cottages because the staff had limited time because of her appointments. They only had one dining area for independent living, but we didn't get to see it. They didn't have as many cottages as the other one we visited, but the community was pretty good sized. They had independent living cottages and two high-rise apartments, the nursing facility, a memory center, and an assisted living standalone."
