Staff here is wonderful - very friendly on every occasion, even just when you encounter someone walking down the hall. Great nursing care and physical therapy. As a family member I was made to feel perfectly welcome and my input was encouraged. My husband was a short-term resident who said everyone was very nice and the food was good. The room was perfectly fine - comfortable and with everything needed. But he says the best part of it was the people. I agree!

My father was in a double room. Staff the first day he was there were very rude, unkind and abrupt. The second day, he had one cna who was very compassionate. I requested that my father be transferred out of this facility, which is 4 miles away from my home, to a different non_wingate facility 16 miles away, less than 24 hours into his stay here. This facility was awful. The staff (and I mean ALL OF THE STAFF - FROM TOP TO BOTTOM,) could benefit from sensitivity training and a few continuing ed courses in ethics and elder care.

Run the other way. My dad went in with a fractured ankle and was told to get a follow-up appointment with an Orthopedic Doctor ASAP. It took Wingate 2 weeks to get an appointment for him. Their excuse was that the Doctor didn't pick up the phone. Really? The ankle was not set properly and Wingate dropped the ball. No one cared enough to get him the proper diagnosis or pain relief. Inadequate physical therapy. He left this hell hole with bedsores. My father will never walk again and will live out the rest of his life in a nursing home because of their ineptitude. He will never sleep in his own bed or listen to his favorite music because the staff was too caught up in their own world to care about his. Dr. Kozi was a disgrace to his profession.

Very poor care of a heart surgery patient. Several times over a three week stay I had to ask for blood soaked bandages to be changed. Come to find out the patient's stitches had come out and the nurses never noticed or at least informed the family. Had to take patient to the hospital to stop the bleeding. Of course the nursing home never informed the family. Poor care...when we complained nobody really seemed to concerned. Excuse, after excuse. I think the main problem with the nursing home is the fact they don't have adequate staff...too many patients and the small staff seems sort of stressed and hurried with patients. And the food is awful. Same food every week...weekly menu don't seem to change. My advice is if you send your loved one to this nursing home...be sure to stop by every day to check on the patient...and speak up if you have problems. Nobody at this place has the time to do anything for the patients other than absolute basic care. If your loved one can't get out of bed or walk on her own she will lie in bed or sit in a chair alone for hours on end,

My mother was and currently as I write this review. She has bathroom issues requiring assist to bathroom every three hours and a fracture tailbone. They haven't changed linen on bed since she has been here. Unless you insist on them giving a shower none is provided and they use baby monitors as alarms on bed and chairs. My mother is a fall risk and had a fall in here bruised her left side and wrist. Still walking into things and then excessive high blood pressure but send her home due to insurance. Some of staff do job with caring attitude but most don't. The management in this facility needs to be changed with someone who truly puts patients first, the current director does not. I won't recommend this place whatsoever.
pissed off and then some

They will bend over backwards to keep people even going so far as to threaten calling protective services. They stress 24/7 care yet don't supply it, they lose everything, the care is minimal at best, you have to supply your own amenities, and are stuck living with a roommate in a corner of a cramped little room. If you have someone going in beware this place needs help and then some.

Very poor personal care. Had to be constantly reminded to change my incontinent mother. My mother was High Risk for falling and required a 2 person transfer. She was left her to stand alone in bathroom, with one preoccupied nurse. My mom fell on the floor and fractured her leg.

This place is terrible. My grandmother has been staying there and has received the worst care I have ever seen. The staff here do not care about the patients, and treat them extremely disrespectfully. Not only have they treated my grandmother horribly, but they have treated my family horribly and it has been the biggest struggle to deal with them. They lie, they won't be accommodating, and they have violated my grandmothers rights.

We've chosen Wingate at Wilbraham and my mom is doing fine. I haven’t tasted the food, but the food looks fine. Her room is cluttered and it’s small. Majority of the staff are caring, but there are a couple that could care less.
