"i went to Elaine Center of Hadley rehab care for a short stay after having a total hip replacement being transferred from Greenfield Franklin Medical Center. I am a nurse. I noted the first thing, people were kind, sweet, went out of the way, and did everything they could for me. They had the sweetest smiles, and helped in every way possible. I was not strong, but with the help of the Rehabilitation, and Occupational therapy i was able to regain strength. I also noticed one thing which is very important to me, no one but no one spoke in a different language in the halls . The bells were answered quickly as well. I would go again, if needed to. Staff interviews conducted in private and away from management scrutiny were very positive.Casual observation of resident and staff interaction were seen as supportive and cooperative.Having conducted dozens of inspections in nursing homes, the overall atmosphere of a facility was associated with the physical condition and the engagement of residents in daily activities. Linda Manor was clean and very bright, even though the visit was during the winter. Residents who are generally happy and unafraid to engage a stranger (me) meant that residents were challenged daily and engaged socially. Linda Manor had great success with my observations. "

"My brother-in-law is already in Thompson House. The staff that I met all seemed very well qualified, very kind, and very nice. It’s certainly clean. My brother-in-law is doing far better since he’s been there, so he seems to be well cared for. He’s obviously getting better nutrition, and better meds management than he had at home. So, he’s looking better and sounding clearer. He does have some dementia so he can be bad. He clearly sounds more lucid, and clearer since he’s been there; so I think he’s being well cared for. It looks more institutional. It does not look like a home at all. On the other hand, everybody seems kind, responsive, well-qualified, and the care is very good. So far, I’m very happy with it. "

"The staff was nice and helpful at all times, they took very good care of my aunt, Wingate's are one of the cleanest nursing home I've been in, I work has a EMT and go into a lot of different Nursing homes and you can tell which are good or bad. I give the Wingate a high rating and would place another family member in if I had to. Most nursing homes have a smell to them when you walk in but you don't get that with most Wingate nursing homes. this one is def on my top 5 nursing home to put family members into. "

"We looked at Loomis House. The facility and the people seemed to be nice. The room I looked at was a studio; it was adequate. They ran the facility a little bit differently where it was more geared toward independent more than assisted living although they did have options for the services of meals. They have a few activities there. "

"We're looking at Langdon Place of Keene. We're happy with that choice. Actually, my father liked it. I wouldn't have picked it just because it was built in the 80s, and it still reflects the 80s with the green and the decor. It's quintessential New England, and it offers my father a lot of things that he enjoys. It's not in the city, so he gets to look out into the woods. And he wants some activities, and they have a calendar full of things that they do with the folks. There is an indoor pool, which is also another bonus. My father will be in a two-bedroom apartment when everything's finally settled. He wants that two-bath, but the one they had available was a two-bedroom, one-bath, so there's lots of options. The only thing is that it has a shower-tub combination, and he really needs a shower, and I don't trust him going over and stepping over, so that was more my concern. The other thing that we liked about it is it offers memory care in the same facility. The staff there was wonderful. Anyone who walked by said hello. The people living there seemed happy, and they looked well cared for. The dining area was very nice. It just seemed more like a large home. It was nice that way. It was outdated, but nice. However, I wasn't too happy with the receptionist. She seemed very off putting, but Jen and the rest of the staff seemed very nice and accommodating."

"Maplewood Nursing Home was a nice and friendly place. They're going to upgrade their existing facility, which looked fine to me. It didn't have that nursing home feel to it. It was a more open plan with pleasant rooms. It had a different appeal than some of the traditional nursing home that you see nowadays. I was totally impressed. The staff was nice. Even the older facility was very clean and progressive. The new part was state-of-the-art. It's in the middle of the woods in New Hampshire. The amenities and the location are perfect."
