We're looking at Langdon Place of Keene. We're happy with that choice. Actually, my father liked it. I wouldn't have picked it just because it was built in the 80s, and it still reflects the 80s with the green and the decor. It's quintessential New England, and it offers my father a lot of things that he enjoys. It's not in the city, so he gets to look out into the woods. And he wants some activities, and they have a calendar full of things that they do with the folks. There is an indoor pool, which is also another bonus. My father will be in a two-bedroom apartment when everything's finally settled. He wants that two-bath, but the one they had available was a two-bedroom, one-bath, so there's lots of options. The only thing is that it has a shower-tub combination, and he really needs a shower, and I don't trust him going over and stepping over, so that was more my concern. The other thing that we liked about it is it offers memory care in the same facility. The staff there was wonderful. Anyone who walked by said hello. The people living there seemed happy, and they looked well cared for. The dining area was very nice. It just seemed more like a large home. It was nice that way. It was outdated, but nice. However, I wasn't too happy with the receptionist. She seemed very off putting, but Jen and the rest of the staff seemed very nice and accommodating.

My aunt is in Langdon Place of Keene, and she seems to be settling in fine. The staff is very friendly and helpful. The atmosphere is very home-like, and it appears to be very good care. The common areas such as the library, and some of the areas where they do community events are nice. The dining room is very nice and she seems to enjoy the food and the atmosphere very much. They do have an outdoor patio. They do have a heated pool and jacuzzi, and an in-house salon. They need to update the outdoor appearance.

When I would visit I found the following: Blood on the floor near his bed. The catheter leaking all over the floor and on his shoes because it wasn't closed properly. Feces on his clothing and wheelchair and hands. Soiled briefs. Stained bed sheets and an unclean room in general. The heater cover was off the heater. And when he was home he had a UTI that I had asked them to check on previously. The place is run down and in need of repair.

We chose Langdon Place of Keene for my mom. We're supposed to move her on Wednesday. We chose them for the hospitality, the cleanliness, and the availability of the right space that we needed. It all just came together perfectly. She will stay in their assisted living. I think that some updates are going to be made to the facility, as far as interior design, but aside from that, the facilities were wonderful. I think the people and the staff were incredible too. They're very giving, very thoughtful, and very caring. They have occupational, physical, and speech therapy on location with the rehab center. They also have heated pools and gardens outside which are just perfect for her.

My dad used to live in the Langdon Place of Keene. I've actually talked to them twice, and I'm trying to set up an appointment maybe after the new year to go visit them. We'll see how things go. The staff seemed to do very well. The times I visited, they were all very polite. They seemed to take care of each person individually, but that was before the virus. I didn't try the food, but it seemed like they ate very well. They had a nice dining room set up. My father did escape from there one day because someone left the door open. I know they have a pool and a salon there. They have a nice courtyard. You could take your parent out, visit, and chat personally in a much quieter garden area.

My mother-in-law stayed in Langdon Place of Keene for respite care. They really tried to meet her needs. She needed more care for the couple of weeks she was there. The staff was very thorough with their information. I saw a menu, and I was able to choose the meals that my mother-in-law would like. It's fairly priced, although it's all shocking to me, because it's the first time I have looked at these things.
