I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father moved here almost 3 years ago. From the very beginning, the staff and health care folk (medical and PT) have been great. They treat the residents with respect and genuinely engage with them. They're responsive to myself and my family when we reach out or visit. And they're always working on improving their level of service. It can be a difficult time for a family moving a loved one into a facility. The staff @ the Charleston Senior Community help make this a little less difficult. Which is appreciated.

Provider Response

Thank you for the kind review! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your experience. If you every need anything please let us know.

I visited this facility

The Charleston Senior Community was very welcoming. It was clean. It smelled good, it seemed to be well staffed, and it was open. I like the atmosphere and the amenities they have. I like the fact that they had a gym at the end of the hall. They had a theater room and a cocktail room. They also had an open dining area. They were in the process of creating an outdoor experience for the residents, too. I've been there a few times because that's the place that we have decided on. We looked at seven places in Charleston and we narrowed it down to three, and The Charleston Senior Community became number one. The staff members were informative and definitely friendly. They were patient with my questions, too. I don't have any negative thing to say about them. They also called us to see how my husband and I were.

I visited this facility

I visited The Charleston Senior Community's assisted living. Someone else scheduled me and did not clarify that the person giving the tour was not available. They had someone moving in that day and I was there at an odd time so I was only able to get a very small tour. I wasn't able to see the full facility because she didn't have time. I do have another date to go back. However, from what I saw at the facility, and from what she was able to show me, I was impressed. I was able to see their general store and their rehabilitation workout facility where they have the residents get some physical therapy. I was able to see their quiet, cozy corner where the people could come in. It's like a chapel where they can have their religious meetings. They also have an area where they have community events. They have outside guests coming in to do shows or things like that, which was really nice. I wasn't able to see the dining area or get a tour of any of the rooms, but from what I saw, the place was nice. The lady who gave me the tour was very nice, too. She was very apologetic because she didn't have time to give a full tour, which I understood. She had been very attentive, though, because since this process started, she had been trying to get in touch with me. She kept missing me but she gave me a rundown of all the time she tried to call and email and I could verify everything. She called me several times to try to get me into the facility.

The Charleston Senior Community was a very nice place. They had everything that you need there. It's an old Holiday Inn hotel that they converted, and they did a nice job of it. The staff was very good. We didn't have as much contact with them as we had at the other place, but we liked the place. They were very good. We met one or two staff members there and they were very cordial.

I visited this facility

We had an in-person tour of The Charleston Senior Community. We were impressed. The staff members were very helpful and knowledgeable. They showed me the studio, and it looked good. It had a kitchenette, a refrigerator, and all the basic needs. There were a lot of activities, and the residents were busy with different activities. They have an exercise room. They have a garden. The facility looked very clean. They provide field trips.

Provider Response

Hi Alan, Thank you so much for touring our community! We are happy to hear you enjoyed it. We hope to see you and your loved one around the community in the future. Thank you again for the kind words!

I visited this facility

Our experience with The Charleston Senior Community was good. There were a lot of amenities available. I spoke to some residents and they said that they enjoy living there. They had multiple areas for the seniors to use. They had a game room, a bar that serves alcohol, two movie rooms, and a physical therapy facility. Those facilities are all on the first floor, but it's multiple levels because it used to be a hotel, so they have a lot of single rooms. They have arts and crafts, game nights, and they have performers come. I only got to meet the person giving the tour. It was very clean.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My dad moved to The Charleston Senior Community. It was a hotel that was converted and it seems more open and airy than the other place we visited. So far, with what we're seeing, we like the place. The staff seems very friendly, they're very helpful, and they are there to greet the visitors and residents when they see them, so they're a very nice staff. They're still under COVID restrictions so although we can visit, we're not allowed to eat in the dining area with him. So far, he hasn't had anything negative to say about the food. It looks good and smells good. They have activities and programs.

Provider Response

Frank, thank you so much for the kind words! We are happy your dad has been pleased since his arrival. We are grateful we were chosen for his home. If there are ever any concerns please do not hesitate to reach out to our management team for assistance. Thanks again!

It was good. It was kind of small, so it felt more personal. Everything just seems to be in very good running order. I just thought it was pretty good. The staff was very nice, and very knowledgeable. The rooms were quite fine. It's a commercial neighborhood. It's overall a nice place.

Provider Response

Joelen, Thank you so much for the review! We are happy your enjoyed our community. We truly take pride in the service we provide to our community. Hope to connect with you again soon!

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My father loves all of the activities like the exercise classes and the Dominos games. He also enjoys all of the concerts. When we first strongly suggested that it was time for him to move from his home to an assisted living, he was very resistant and depressed. Within a few months he began to see that it was a great place for him to be.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My mother-in-law is in the Charleston Senior Community. She is adjusting so well, and we're very pleased about that. They're learning what her needs are, she loves her room, it's clean, it's comfortable, she has as much as she can bring from home there, and she's very pleased. She has gone out on a trip to the store, she goes to happy hour, bingo, and she goes outside to sit and watch the traffic and the people. I haven't seen an attitude in any of the staff members. They're all very kind, and they speak to you. We're very pleased with them.

My mom moved into The Charleston. It's very nice and nicely decorated. The staff is very friendly and all my mom's needs are being met. They have outings where they take them out to lunch, or on shopping trips, and arts and crafts, which my mom likes doing. They're also planning to do some gardening when the weather gets better. The dining area is beautiful. My mom has mentioned that the food is quite good and that she enjoys it.

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

My parents moved to The Charleston. It looks like a high-end hotel with a movie theater, a fitness center, and a bar. They have crafts and activities, and a game room with electronic activities as well as puzzle and other games. They have a porch area that the residents can grow plants on if they like. They have daily activities, church, and people who come in and play on the piano. The staff is wonderful, very quick in responding, and do everything they can to accommodate the residents. I will highly recommend it to anybody who is trying to take their parents to an assisted living facility.
