Great Choice

I am a friend or relative of a current/past resident

We definitely made the right choice with Caraway. From the moment we walked in to visit we knew that this would be the place for mom. Tina and all of the staff are genuinely concerned and provide excellent care for all of the elderly living there. They know every person not only by name but also seem to understand all of the personality traits that make up an individual. They have top notch communication with family members and the ratio of caregivers to clients living there is very small compared to most places. There are 16 individuals in each building ( there are 2 ) and the aides always seem to know exactly what is going on. The kitchen is in the front as you walk in with a chef preparing delicious meals and they seem more than happy to adjust the menu to accommodate. Moms clothes and sheets were always clean and they don't lay around in a hospital gown all day. They are up and dressed to attend meals at the dining table , sit on the huge front porch facing the woods or work puzzles/ do activities. There was never a problem with medications as they arrange pre-packaging with the pharmacy and have a PA visit each week for individual medical needs. No matter what time you pop in it is always odor-free , quiet ,clean and calm. Moms room had a door to the back deck facing the woods with a large window as well so her room was well lit. ( they have private rooms and semi private ). I would definitely recommend the private rooms simply because they can have more of their own furniture, pictures and belongings to make it more like home. If there isn't one available you can get on the waiting list and for us it worked out fine. The overall take home message is of all the places we looked at ( 10 total in 3 counties ) Caraway has an overall feel of the comforts of home with the security of knowing excellent care is provided at all times.

The rooms do not get cleaned. The floors get swept, that's it. The med techs make medication errors all the time, for example...drop pills on the floor, then pick them up and give them anyway. They didn't give my mom's Osteoporosis medication for 6 months! The food is horrible! No fresh fruits and vegetables. Everything is bagged or boxed processed food. A lot of food is burnt. The staff have to cook & clean, on top of caring for full care residents. This leaves no quality time for the residents. Never have the staff witnessed a fire drill, although the new owner says they have them all the time. The staff picked up my mom to transfer her, swung her legs around, because they didn't have enough time to wait for her to do it herself, and gave her a skin tear on her leg, when they hit it on her wheelchair. A few days later, they called me to tell me they needed a doctor's order to put a bandage on it. We ended up having to take her to the ER because her doctor didn't have openings. Caraway then charged her $60.00 for a nurse assessment after the hospital visit. The ER doctor said this was a waste of our time and theirs. So many bad things happened at this Assisted living facility. I would NEVER recommend this place for any loved one.

After hearing great things about Caraway, and visiting another resident there many times, when it was time, we placed my mother-in-law in their care. We were very pleased with the care she received. Her room was large, as was her bathroom. There was plenty of natural light and plenty of porch space to sit outside. The atmosphere was warm and homey, it always smelled nice when we visited, the staff was caring and friendly, the building was clean and well taken care of, and the food menu was varied and smelled delicious. Communication with the staff was excellent and transparent. She lived there 9 months before her passing at age 100. Our only regret was not placing her there sooner, because she thrived being with people her own age. I highly recommend Caraway for your loved one.

My mother has been at Caraway Manor II for 5 months now. It's a small place with only 16 residents. They make all their food right there. They take good care of them, and I'm very happy with this place. They have a great staff. They listen to your concerns and they leave you alone when you come to visit. But if you want them to answer questions, they answer questions. They're very responsive. They have single rooms and shared rooms. They do not have that many activities, but it's adequate for the residents that they have. The place is a little older, but it's very clean and well-maintained. It always smells good there.

My boyfriend is staying in Caraway Manor. The care is excellent. He gets physical therapy and his room is very comfortable. The food is very good. The staff members are very good, too. They come to his room within a minute. His room is well maintained. They have an open area for the visitors and the residents to sit. They have a central TV room, too. The dining area is open with tables and chairs.

I visited this facility

I visited this facility, it was very warm and inviting. The staff member who gave us the tour was very pleasant and seemed very caring and sincere. The rooms were large and had e private bathrooms and showers. I was very pleased, but there is a waiting list.

I visited this facility

Caraway Manor II was kind of small, but the lady who gave us the tour was very nice, really delved into what they do, seemed very caring, and had the kind of personality where you feel like you could get close to her. The place seemed homey. As you go through the living area, dining room, rec area, and private bedrooms, it was cozy.

I visited this facility

Caraway Manor was not very helpful, they did not call me back or give me any encouragement. They had two separate buildings, and their dining area left something to be desired. It’s cold and not really inviting. They also have other activities done there. The rooms were nice, and they have private rooms. They were very private and big enough to fit a love seat and a television set in there.
