"Meadowcrest at Middletown was a beautiful place. The lady was very knowledgeable, very helpful, and very nice. She knew everything that she had to know. She even gave me advice on how to get extra help. The common area was beautiful. However, they only provide you with a certain amount of meals and the rest comes out of your pocket. If I had to go in there, I wouldn't think twice, but it was just costly. It looked clean. I didn't smell anything. I saw a lot of different rooms and different activities going on, which looked good. I saw some people playing a puzzle and others just walking around and watching TV. They just do whatever they wanted to do."

"I had a lovely visit at Brookdale Hockessin. The staff was extremely helpful and pleasant. The apartments were very nice, and there was plenty of room. The dining room was OK. "

"The staff at Friends provided professional and compassionate care for my mother. She entered Friends in July 2024 for respite care, which continued periodically until the end of September, when she became a full-time resident. She was thrilled that the wonderful maintenance crew painted her room a soothing blue. They will customize the décor for any resident. (Note: We bought the paint.) We used some of the furniture Friends had in storage and brought in some of my mother’s pieces. The building is historic, and Friends is updating and renovating rooms and systems, including a new elevator. The kitchen staff were very helpful in meeting my mother’s dietary needs and she liked the many menu choices and the quality of the meals. My mother took advantage of many of the stimulating activities using the Montessori philosophy – mealtimes with other residents, arts and crafts, the choir, recitals, knitting group, the library, and field trips – which all helped give her a purposeful life while dealing with short-term memory and physical health issues. My mother loved sitting on the front porch in nice weather and in the sun parlor watching TV with the other residents. We found the medical staff to be very responsive to her needs, especially when working with the hospice aides and nurses in the last weeks of my mother's life. My mother passed away in May 2025, and all the staff at Friends were so warm and sympathetic throughout a difficult time. I cannot praise them enough."

"The Lorelton was very nice, but it wasn't for us. The staff treated us very nicely, and they were very friendly and accommodating. It only had apartments, and it was not what I was interested in. The place was clean and modern, and it didn't have a nursing home smell at all. The parking was not very good because it was a street parking. "

"Rockland Place is beautiful. Absolutely gorgeous. It was the most beautiful one, although the apartments weren't as big. But the whole facility was top-notch. It was aesthetically beautiful. The staff was wonderful. They were very outgoing and friendly. No complaints. It was so beautiful inside, and spacious. The rooms for the public or the general rooms were just beautiful. "

"My dad moved into Forest Hill Heights about a week ago. They are wonderful to him and he made friends the first day he arrived. Patty is who we worked with and she is great. He changed his mind 2 times before moving in. The one thing I will say, is 90% of the people we have seen there are much older and need much more care than my dad. He is 81 and I would say most are much older than him. Other than that it is great. They are in the process of remodeling the facility and this will take a while to complete. The room he has is large and he is lucky enough to have a bathroom of his own. I would highly recommend Forest Hill Heights. "

"I visited first for volunteer work and I noticed the both the staff and the people living there were all kind and helpful when I had to ask questions. The facility is clean and the personel put their patients in first. Breakfast, lunch and dinner is provided as well as an assortment of activities for the guests such as badminton, water aerobics, swimming class, aerobics, dance classes, movie night, golf, board games and also a large television were the guests can enjoy their free time. This facility is great if you're looking for a place where people care. The second time I went I was looking for information for my grandmother. Although she ended up not living there she loved the facilities. "

A friend told us about a newly renovated facility in Arden that had just re-opened. We decided to check it out. Thus began our love affair with Ivy Gables, a beautifully appointed 24 room senior living facility nestled in the community of Ardentown which just happens to be 5 minutes from our home. We particularly liked that it was a small facility, knowing that it would be more comforting to Mom. Of course, what’s a beautiful facility without warm and friendly people to bring it to life!! The staff at Ivy Gables outshines all of its beautiful appointments! They are top notch, professional folks who welcomed us and have went the extra mile to make our Mom (and us) feel at home! Knowing that our Mom is safe and in the hands of such kind and loving folks, has given us such peace of mind!” "

"We toured St. Martha Villa. I like where it's located, and it was on the grounds of a church, which was important to me. It wasn't too big. It was very well kept, nice looking, and very cozy, and not institutional at all. Everybody was friendly. They have a dining room and crafts room. They have a chapel. They have nice grounds to walk on. They have a bus to take you shopping."

"Caraway Manor II was kind of small, but the lady who gave us the tour was very nice, really delved into what they do, seemed very caring, and had the kind of personality where you feel like you could get close to her. The place seemed homey. As you go through the living area, dining room, rec area, and private bedrooms, it was cozy."

"It was recommended by a friend of mine who I've known for a long time. We chose it because of the caring people who worked there and the fact that it was very nice and clean, and she's very well-kept. I like that my parent is well taken care of, and she's treated with a lot of love and respect. She's been there for over a year. It's a nice, small place, and it's more like a family. We've been there when they're preparing the food. It's healthy food, and it always smells good when they're cooking it. They play bingo, and they also do arts and crafts. They go out on field trips in nice weather. They have people who come once a week to sing, and they get to sing with them if they want to. When we found Singerly Manor, not once did we smell anything in there, and the girls care about the people who live there. The manager is someone who, any time they need anything for Nancy, they always let us know right away, or anything that we want done for her. We're just very pleased all the way around. She gets good care. "

There are four full bathrooms and a large dining room where we offer family-style meals. Our residents enjoy sitting by the window in the living room, and a favorite of most, relaxing on the front porch. The house is two stories and has a small elevator for those who find the steps challenging. The rooms have individual climate control options. Our assisted living offers solutions for adults who can live independently but require some assistance and range to seniors who need higher levels of care. "I visited Always There Assisted Living Facility. What I liked most was that everyone seemed happy. They have 12-hour nurses. I met one staff person, and there were eight residents, and everyone seemed happy, and I was very pleased with that. It's clean. The building could have used an upgrade. For instance, in my house, the baseboards and everything are completed. It just seemed like things needed to be replaced. It was an older home, and it could be modernized. The person who helped during the tour was very friendly. That's huge for me because I've seen and experienced firsthand where the staff are not in a happy mood, and they take it out on the residents and that kind of ticks me off. She seemed very happy, knowledgeable, knew what was going on, and was just very informative. I think one of the downsides of it was the location. It was very far out in the middle of nowhere. The residents were eating when I got there. It's an open concept, so there's a dining room in the kitchen, and the living room is right beside it."

"My brother was at Pear Tree Manor. We liked it. The people who work there are nice. It wasn't like an A-plus facility, but it was very, very nice. He enjoyed it there. And the owner and the people who work there were both exceptionally nice to my brother and me. The staff was excellent. It's a converted home. It was clean. It wasn't at the top line but it was very, very serviceable. We didn't see any bugs, vermin, or anything of that sort. They said they have tours and things of that sort, but most of the residents were pretty sedentary and they didn't go anywhere that I could see, though. The director told me that sometimes they go on trips to Atlantic City. They go to some museums in Baltimore on occasion. And I think locally, they go to farmers' markets and things of that sort. Most of the residents were not very mobile. The atmosphere was very friendly. The staff were caring. They're there 24 hours a day. They have a nurse supervisor who comes in to check the patients. They have some physical therapist who comes there to see some of the patients. A lot of the patients are vets, so they provide transportation to the local Veterans Administration hospital for the residents."
