"My mom was a resident of Sunrise of Annapolis. Overall, it's a pretty good facility. The food wasn't particularly exciting, but it probably is not in most places. It is for people needing assistance, not for independent living. The people, the staff, by and large, are very nice and accommodating. The director was very good, and the front desk was also. They were very helpful to me there. The one difficult thing was that in the last few months, my mother needed more care. She needed the care to get to the bathroom and back, and they didn't have the staff or the ability to take care of that. She had to wait a long time for somebody to come in. If she was in the bathroom, they would forget about her. I came in one night, and she had been sitting on the toilet for an hour, her legs had gone to sleep. She was in pain and couldn't move and I immediately got help for her. They just wanted to put her in diapers, and my mother refused. They hid her walker, and then she started going to find her walker and use it. So, they told me I'd have to hire a private nurse if I needed that kind of care. She didn't want to be in diapers, so I had to hire a full-time private nurse, which wouldn't work. The last few weeks of my mother's life, that didn't work well. But all in all, I think they're a good facility with good staff. They try very hard to accommodate the people there. It was probably that in my mother's last month, her health deteriorated to where she needed more care than they could provide. When people are right at the end of their life, most people would have given up and stayed in bed and been in diapers. But my mother was a strong woman mentally and physically, and she didn't want to do that."

"Pasadena Home Care is a lovely facility. As a matter of fact, I was going to call them back today and see if they had a room opening because they didn't have a room open at the time and they said one will be open soon. I was very, very impressed with the home. I liked the environment. It felt like a home and it felt like the staff was very caring and knowledgeable. The private room was nice and it had a single bath, which was a plus for me."

"We chose Spring Arbor of Crofton because they have the services that we need, a very comfortable atmosphere, and friendly people. During the tour, we were accommodated by 3 different people and they were great; they were nice. They didn't invite me for lunch but the chef gave me a treat."

"It felt very warm and very inviting. The staff that I talked with was very friendly, and the people who lived there seemed very happy and friendly. It was a beautiful location. They had a whole bunch of activities, and practically every amenity that you can imagine and somebody hadn’t even thought about -- like a hair salon -- was on the premises where somebody is there once a week to cut hair and do nails and stuff for the residents. They had a very nice selection of meals every day, and the resident can pick what meal they want from the menu of the day. "

"It is a beautiful and clean place. There are a lot of residents, so I don’t have to worry about Mom being lonely. There are activities like church services, arts and crafts, and games. They take very good care of their residents and are very professional. The staff is very friendly. They seem to love their work and are happy with what they do. They serve three meals a day. I can take my mom to her doctors' appointments or one of the staff can take her. I am very happy that my mom is living there. "

"I went to Arcadia of Crofton. I was impressed. There seemed to be a good ratio of people assisting. I got there around the time that they were cooking and the food smelled good. The residents look fine. I visited and I was happy. They have two houses. The grounds look peaceful. It's convenient for me. This is the facility that I may consider if my husband has to go into an assisted living facility. The rooms were fine. They have rooms with a private bathroom and they have rooms where you share a bathroom."

"The rooms are super clean. It feels like a home environment here and always smells super good. Also, I really appreciate how they worked with our budget. My dad came to this facility from another facility. Since he’s been here he has been receiving amazing care including nutritious meals. I appreciate the staff going far and beyond for him, always. They make sure he is clean and happy. Last but not least, I appreciate the medical specialists (home health, Nurse Practitioners, etc) that they work with who provide additional services he needs. "I saw New Horizon Assisted Living in Overbrook Lane. Most of the people were sharing a room; they have no private rooms. The staff was very friendly, they were there all the time, they lived on the premises. The amenities are kind of limited. It was very clean. It's not far from restaurants and hospitals."

"My sister stayed at Caring Hearts & Hands ALF for respite. She enjoyed being there and she was comfortable. We only met the lady that runs and owns the place. We saw one of the meals that she was preparing and it looked very appetizing. My sister said she ate very well while she was there. When I picked her up, she was in good shape. She was happy there."

"It was great. The staff was very informative and answered my questions. The community is beautiful, bright, clean, and brand new. A lot of residents were out and active. One time, we were there for happy hour, and then we were there for bingo. It was beautiful. Their dining area is large, bright, and clean."

"I toured the Tribute at Melford. It seemed like they were very engaged with the residents. It was very open. I noticed that every single hallway had plenty of seating. I guess, for the elderly, if they're walking, they can sit down anywhere along the way. They didn't have to go all the way to the end of a corridor to find a seat to sit. I found that very encouraging, and the fact that they didn't have keys to their room, they had a wristband. So, they just know they don't have to fumble with keys, which could be a challenge for some elderly people. They had classes there for the elderly to take, like cell phone 101 to help them use a cell phone, technology classes, and things like that I thought were very encouraging for people that might be challenged. They had classes and things going on all day, every day, so the residents can pick and choose what they want to do, and they can stay busy all day. The cook gave me something to take home, it was very good. Liane, who gave me the tour, was very, very good. The rooms were big and open, with plenty of sunshine and windows so they could have daylight. The bathroom was very handicap ready, which I liked. My mother would be very comfortable there."

"We toured Access Care Assisted Living. It was small and well-run, and we liked the house it was in. It's very close to where we live. The rooms were very nice and spacious. My mom will be in a private room, which is very nice. They've got an activities room and we like that a lot, so she has something to do. We saw them in the room where they were watching T.V. and playing puzzles. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and nice. We think Mom's going to be very happy."

"My dad is currently in New Horizon Assisted Living LLC. It has an open space, and there's more room for the residents to walk around. It's a small community, and it is clean. The staff there doesn't tell me too much. The place is clean and everything is spaced out. It has wooden floors, and it's easier for them to move around. They have a dining area and a little courtyard where the residents can go out and sit."
