"My friend moved into Plant Memorial Home a week ago. The administration there is fantastic. They helped with every step of the process. It's a very homey place. It's more like being in your own home. The location is beautiful, and the people are wonderful. They really care about the residents. The medical attention they show him has been excellent. They're on top of his medication, his physical therapy, and occupational therapy needs. They have been very communicative with me any time they had a question or I had a question. His apartment is clean, bright, and cheerful. The floors are brand new. They have big, spacious, and handicapped accessible bathrooms. They have a kitchenette. It is freshly painted. He has a stunning view of the river. My friend says that the food is excellent. He loves to eat, so the food must really be good. I ate there the day I moved my friend in, and the food was excellent. He enjoys socializing with other people in the common room. They have a movie every night after dinner. People can go down and watch TV during the day, if they want to. They do trivia, and they have a pastor that comes for Christian services. They organize outings. They can go to the grocery store on the bus once a week, and they can go to Wal-Mart once a month. They have an exercise class. Last time I was there, I saw a bunch of paintings that the residents had done at a painting class."

"I really like how Bay Square at Yarmouth is intimate. It seemed like they really care about their tenants. I also thought it was really nice how they have their meal times. It's very intimate, quiet, and low key, and I really like that. They also had full nursing staff there. They have the highest licenses, which is a very good sign. They can do until end of life, so that's a big plus for me. The staff member who gave the tour was very helpful. The dining room was small and very intimate. It's really good for memory care, and it's very homely. They have geriatric doctors that come in. They have two courtyards in the memory care part, and then they have another courtyard for the assisted living, and I thought that was awesome."

The Prettiest Village in Maine The village of Wiscasset, Maine is replete with the historic and modern charm that one expects of a quintessential coastal New England town: Amid the town’s stunning natural beauty you’ll find an array of historic sites, modern shops, antique stores, art galleries, restaurants, and recreational pursuits. Despite its size (under 4,000 residents), Wiscasset is a town where one can easily spend the day or a lifetime. Just south of Boothbay Harbor, Wiscasset sits on the banks of the Sheepscot River and extends toward one of Maine’s rocky “coastline fingers” that reach into the deep blue Atlantic Ocean. The town’s name reflects its precipitous position near to, but set-back from, the coast: Wiscasset is an Abenaki tribal name that means “coming out from the harbor but you don’t see where.” While that sounds a bit ominous, rest assured, Wiscasset’s rich history and natural assets have garnered it quite a few accolades including one of “the most beautiful towns in Maine” (right up there with nearby Bar Harbor, Boothbay, and Cape Elizabeth) and there’s always local banter about which coastal town is the Prettiest Village in Maine. But why argue? Come visit and see for yourself why Everbrook Senior Living chose Wiscasset as a community-of-choice for older adults to spend the Golden Years of life. Exceptional Living Spaces Suited for Later Life The exceptional design of this senior living community is in keeping with the aesthetics and high standards expected of every property managed by Everbrook Senior Living. Islebrook Village will be 105 units of rental senior living offering apartments suited for independent, assisted and memory care living. In addition, all residents at no additional cost will have access to Wellness 4 Later Life, our innovative wellness program that offers a first-of-its-kind exercise program, led by an Exercise Physiologist who customizes programs so residents can preserve independence for longer. All Everbrook communities include such amenities as an on-site movie theater, fitness center, library, salon, chapel, dining rooms, and a pub, as well as social, health, education, music, and art activity spaces. We're getting there! As progress continues on the area’s newest and most progressive senior living community, we love to get outside and walk around – in our hard hats, of course! "My brother recently passed away. He was a resident at the Brentwood Center. It was a difficult time, but the staff made me feel at home as I stayed with my brother to the end. It was obvious that everyone cared about my brother and his comfort, not only at this end of his life, but during his stay there. I will be forever grateful to their kindness and attentiveness to his needs."

"My parents just moved to Clover Health Care up in Auburn. My father moved to their memory care and my mother followed. Everything's been great and they've been very helpful. They've been working overtime trying to help with getting insurance all taken care of, because that was quite difficult. We don't know how insurance could be and we're still trying to iron out some of it, but they're able to get my parents in there for the time being. I've only been there a couple of times, and only there to see my dad before my mother moved in. It's a very clean place. The staff also seems incredibly friendly and attentive. We really don't have any complaints about them as of yet. Their common areas are very nice and very clean. There is a courtyard outside that seems nice. It's in the middle of the winter, so it's kind of hard to see right now, but everything is clean and adequate for my parents. The only thing is that Dad can't go visit Mom in her area. Mom can go visit Dad though, so at least that's allowed. I guess the memory care people can't go out of their area. That's the only bummer about it."

"My mother ended up staying in Schooner Estates. It is a comfortable country setting. It is near family. The staff and management are just wonderful. They go above and beyond. They go out of their way to help, make things livable, and make it more like home. They treat her like she is their family. The food is very good. They have all kinds of chair exercises and different things to do. They have entertainment come in to keep them busy. If you want, they'll take you out to different places. They have a van to take a group out. It is just that they can't give nursing home care; they don't have that available. They have a piano room, an exercise room, and hairdressers. We are getting what we pay for, but it's still quite expensive."

"Ashton Gardens Gracious Retirement Living was well-kept. My overall experience was great. And it's a very beautiful living community with lots of opportunities. The staff who gave the tour was very energetic, knowledgeable, and very kind. The rooms are nice quaint little spaces with plenty of storage. The dining area looked great, but I haven't tasted any of the food. They have community trips for activities. There are different groups, and they have a movie theater. They have a community room for crafting, reading groups, and bingo."

"My experience with Holiday Woods at Canco was very good. The person who gave the tour was very friendly and very knowledgeable. I got to see one room, and it looked like a generous amount of living space. And there's a nice sitting room and a bedroom and things like that. The dining area looked great. They have a good room for community activities, too. There was bingo and a book group going on when I was there. There was happy hour with cocktails and games. They have a nice library area, and they offer trips as well for the community. But there were a few places that needed a little bit of work."

"Birchwoods at Canco Assisted Living is nice, clean, and new. I like community rooms and places to gather because I need the interaction with other people my age. There are a couple of churches that provide a lot of activities for the seniors, too. Like the congregational church here has various programs and bible studies. I'm kind of into that stuff. They're friendly and helpful. The staff who gave the tour was also very friendly and knowledgeable about the situation."

"We toured 75 State Street. They had smaller rooms. However, they were very friendly. They have lots of bus trips. We just spent an hour there, but the staff members were very informative. With regards to the community, there are more older people than we wanted. And we were looking for a little bit younger crowd. They had lots to do like painting class, games, trips to the swimming pool, flower arranging, and stuff like that."

"The Landing at Cape Elizabeth was in a lovely location. It was off of Route 77 with views of the marshes. The inside was decorated. One of the things my mother noticed right away was that it just felt comfortable and homey. The staff was great. The person that showed us around was very patient and answered our questions. The dining area was lovely. It had a lot of natural light, and then they also had a private dining room. If your family comes, you could sign up for a private dining room area. We were actually invited to come back for the food. We were just not able to do that. We noticed that there was a group of ladies who had just come back from a trip when we were there. Others were all in a TV/living room area watching golf and having ice cream. When we walked through, some of them stopped and greeted us. They had a snack bar that was open 24 hours with fruits, packaged snacks, and coffee for the residents."

"My friend and I used to live in Sable Lodge Retirement Community. The food there was terrific. We had three meals a day in a buffet-style. You would get down and get in the buffet line, which went very quickly, and the food was ample. There were no restrictions. They had a separate salad and soup bar. That was very good. The soup was controlled by thermostatic pots. There were two pots with two different soups every day, at noon and night. If you want something that they didn't have at the serving bar, like a hamburger, they would make it for you right then and there and serve it to you at your table. If you wanted French fries with it, you would get them, and the French fries would burn your mouth because they were right out of the hot pan. So, their food service was very good. Our apartment was wonderful. We had a two-bedroom apartment. It had a full kitchen, a range, a microwave, a garbage disposal, and a dishwasher. We had two beds, two baths, a walk-in closet in each bedroom, and a personal wall safe in one of the bedrooms. From our window, the grounds looked like a golf course. The landscaping people did a tremendous job with it. It's independent living, but they have medical assistance that will come in, which is paid for by you and employed by you. We would get different managers, and they were very good managers. We had a very busy activity director. I don't think they do enough competitively, like games, but they have the typical poker night, they play Bridge, Mahjong, and those games. It's only once a week, but that's pretty well attended. They also had a happy hour there, and it was very good."

"I loved Gorham House above and beyond, but they didn't have any openings. I liked the place, I liked the people there, and I liked the levels of care that they have. It's a comfortable place to live when you go in and out, and that's where I would have taken my father. The two beds in a two-bedroom had a kitchen, a living room, and a bedroom. It was small but adequate. I liked it very much. It had a microwave and a refrigerator. There was a daycare right there on the grounds, which was lovely."

"My mom is at Sky-Hy a few days a week. It is a social oulet for her right now and she loves going and being with friends. I am happy that she is in such a caring environment. Everyone on the staff is wonderful. They help by caring for her personal needs (shower) and they give her a hot nutritious meal each day. It helps me to know that she is cared for and that they can continue to help if she needs additional assistance in the future. This allows me to keep her at home while still being able to work. "

"My aunt was at Mid Coast Senior Health. It's a very well-kept facility, the staff was very nice and helpful. My aunt seemed quite content, she was receiving very good care. It's a very nice facility. The staff members are very, very good. They have a bunch of activities and they do something every day. In terms of value for the money, we're very pleased with it. There was one person at the time wearing a mask and asking you if you're vaccinated. They vaccinated everybody there. You had to meet with the person in their room, you couldn't go to a congregate area or anything to visit. So, they're very careful about the COVID."

"My sister is a resident of Avita of Brunswick. The place is beautiful and convenient for me because it's 10 minutes from home. The staff has been remarkable to work with and continues to be remarkable in getting my sister used to being in there, welcoming her, and making her comfortable. It's just a beautiful place. They serve three meals a day. The food is wonderful. I saw my sister the other day, and she was planting. They're getting ready for spring, and they are planting herbs. They do multiple things. They were all a little overpriced, no matter where you go, but she's getting what she's paying for."
