Meridian Home (Meridian Nursing And Rehabilitation Center) was wonderful. They have a textile room, a game room, and a room where they let the residents rest before and after meals. They did have a courtyard and my mother-in-law would have liked to go in there. It is off the dining room, so what's cool about it is, as you eat, and if you sitting in the right place in the dining room, you can see the birds and ducks that come down. The staff members are very friendly and very open about what they were doing.

My room was very dirty: the floor under and outside the restroom was so dirty I did not want to use the facility. My bed had not been cleaned after the previous patient. The remote and bedside grab bars had 'residue' of some kind on them. It took me about 30 seconds to decide that I was not going to stay, and started the process to be transfered to another facility. That process took about 20 hours. Food: cold & greasy. Nurses: some pleasant, many very cranky. Summary: Avoid this facility!

This was one of the worst experiences for my dad! The social worker never called for the initial care plan meeting. I had to call them to get it scheduled and to learn what the plan was for my dad who was there for rehab. They took nearly two weeks before he was even put into shower schedule—we had to call twice to get that dealt with. During one visit the nurse was on his cell phone while everyone was working around him to get residents lunch. His phone was turned up and he was playing a game. When I left he was on his phone standing at the medicine cart, insulin in one hand playing a game on another. I brought clothes for him but was never told to label them. Then when they weren’t getting washed I was told the washer wasn’t working and that I would need to come wash them myself. So I go to pick them up and they are gone. No one could find them. I called numerous times. Then they gave him some clothes who knows who they belonged to. A lot of them were 2 or 3 times too big for him. He was in this facility for a month and his clothes were never found. They do allow smoking which was great for my dad. However, the stash the cigarettes for the residents. I brought 4 packs for my dad and labeled them on all possible sides with his name and they went missing never to found again. I brought all these issues to the social worker, director of nursing and even the Admin and nothing got better. When my dad left I had to pack his belongings in a trash bag because his bag went missing as well. Most of the workers were nice but that place was so unprofessional and not at all what I would want for any resident! Save yourself the headache and choose a different place for your loved one!
