"The people at Sunrise of Leawood were lovely to work with. They were very informative about things. They wanted to give the impression that they wanted to help even though I don't think our available money will allow my sister to live there. It had been freshly redecorated and remodeled. They're still in the process of putting new furniture in. It was bright with white halls and cheery colors. It had an inviting aesthetic. The people that I saw in the dining room and the halls were being greeted by name and usually a little bit of conversation. That's the stuff you look for when you want your family member to be known and not just a number. It was impressive. Michelle was my tour guide, and she'd been there for maybe nine years. For somebody that had stayed in that business, I think, is showing a lot of passion for that population. I was impressed with her length of tenure. And then I met some of the other staff members who also had been there a long time. And they all were cheerful and seemed happy with their jobs. It was just a very good overall impression. My sister would be lucky to be able to live there. The rooms had kind of an interesting design, probably showing the 18 years. Some of them were designed to be shared rooms and they were not as desirable. And they can go for a single room but its layout was a little funky. But it was a good, healthy, and happy-looking environment."

"We are on the waiting list for Mission Chateau. We chose them because the people we met and talked to, including the person who showed us around and gave us the tour was spectacular, and that was a very important reason. And the second major reason was the financial model that was used, there was no large buy-in upfront. The person who toured us was friendly, professional, thorough, and a good listener. The place had the things we were looking for. I can't do much physically anymore except swim, and it does have a swimming facility. There are all sorts of activities, clubs, and gatherings that we can choose to get involved in if we want to."

"My mother-in-law was in the rehab section of Brookdale Rosehill. It was a well-kept and nice place. She was there twice. During her first rehab, the situation was excellent. The staff was amazing and they were very attentive to her. During the second rehab, she was in a different portion of the building and it didn't go as well, but I don't know if that's because she just wasn't as well. The first time she was there, she raved about the food. The second time she was there, she did not, but it was the same food, same facility. They had a lot of music programs and she loved going to those. They would come and get her and take her to another part of the building for the music performances. There was such a difference in between the two times for her."

"I went to Brookdale Wornall Place. It was great, the place was clean, and it looked modern all over. I understand it has been established for quite some time. It looked really nice, and I would recommend it to someone who's looking. The staff was fantastic; they could not have been nicer. Everything was spotless, everything looked modern, but the bedrooms were a little too small, and there was not room for both a bedroom and a chest. The only difference would be a few of the amenities that come with the room, and the size of the rooms. The larger the rooms, the better. I liked that it was all in one building. When you walk in, the first thing you see is a stairway and the lobby, and it is absolutely beautiful."

"I have inspected quite a few residences in the Southern Kansas city area and this is by far the best of the lot. The lady I worked with, Kelly, was very friendly but more importantly, knew her business extremely well. She understood our problems and work hard to reach a solution for us. The facility was clean, bright and cheerful and the residents seemed happy and without problem. I think we have found our home! "

"The staff seemed very nice, friendly, and helpful. The rooms and apartments were fine, updated, and spacious. I have not tried the food, but they were having a meal when I was there, and it smelled delicious and looked really nice. The dining was family style -- very inviting for the people -- and it looks like a nice place. They have exercise, bingo, a little general store, plenty of reading, and TV. I would rate it a 4 only because they need to redo the parking lot; it doesn’t look very good. "

"The Crestone Senior Living is a place that I really liked. I toured their assisted living facility, and it was very nice. It definitely was going to be a little bit more money, but it was more of a smaller community that has a lot to offer. They had activities, and it was good. The food was good too. The rooms and everything were accessible. Sometimes, especially for people with dementia, a smaller community like this might be better than others. When we did the tour, I sat down with the staff members, and they were very easy to work with. They were concerned and kind of going over what our needs were. Just watching the way they were helping other residents, they seemed like they were doing a really good job."

"My mom has moved into Trustwell Living at Mission Springs. I like that the price is reasonable. The place is very clean. There aren't that many RNs, but there are a lot of LPNs that can help people around there. And the food, she says, is very good. She is very picky about food, but she is saying that it's good. They have a lot of different things that they do. They have card games and bingo. Today they're taking them out to a barbecue place for lunch. So they get out there every once in a while, too. And if it's within 10 miles, they will transport my mom to the doctor's, too. "

"Armour Oaks is an awesome place to live. The quality of care is great. I like all my nurses and staff. They are very helpful, and they really care of us residents. My family feels safe with me being here. It’s a great place to live. "

"We liked it here. The two-bedroom apartment was spacious. We liked the idea of having the washer and dryer in it. They had a lot of activities and that's what I was kind of going for. The apartment had a kitchen and a microwave, a full stove, and a full-size refrigerator. We were looking at the independent living and then we could go down and eat our meals downstairs. They had what they call the bistro and the day we were there, they were having prime rib and it smelled delicious. They have a theater room where at night, you can go in and watch movies, and I thought that was unique. They play bingo. You can go down and do cards or work puzzles and they take little trips. There was a bus parked in the parking lot. They had a beautiful courtyard where you could go out and sit. They had awnings or umbrellas over the bench to help you from the sun."

"Touring St. Anthony’s Senior Living during the Christmas season was truly special. The sense of community was evident the moment we walked in. Seeing the Dickens carolers and Santa visiting the residents was such a beautiful experience, and the smiles on the residents’ faces were absolutely priceless. It was clear how much joy and care goes into creating meaningful moments for those who live there. We toured for assisted living with the understanding that memory care may be needed in the future, and it was comforting to see how thoughtfully the community supports residents through every stage. St. Anthony’s feels like more than a place to live, it feels like a loving, connected community."

"My father lived there until he passed in March. He started out in Assisted Living and then went to Memory Care. The staff was very patient and actually understood the complexities of Alzheimer’s. They wouldn’t freak out when he became agitated. They were gentle with him and I appreciated that. When he was there I finally had the peace of mind that I needed to be able to live worry free. I was able to be his daughter as opposed to his caregiver, although you never really give that title up. I believe my dad was happy there. I wish I had him there sooner. The facility is beautiful and well maintained. The rooms are small but, that’s all Daddy needed. Anything bigger would be problematic. The food was great. I would sometimes eat with him and was left satisfied. The staff is phenomenal. I will be forever grateful to them. True professionals. And if there was a concern it would be addressed promptly. Overall, we had a great experience."
