The Best Independent Living Communities in Salt Lake County, UT

"I toured Solstice Senior Living at Sandy and I liked it. I thought it was friendly and attractive, and felt homey. The staff who gave the tour did a great job. did a great job. The rooms were clean, they were attractive, and they had many options. They were also modern, they had exterior doors, and they had patios and balconies. Their activities looked great, they looked fun. Their dining area was attractive but I did not try the food."

"Legacy Retirement Residence of South Jordan was exceptional. We were very much impressed with the level of care. We liked it, and it's a perfect location, but it was just more expensive. The rooms were a little small, but the layout was good with the room that they had to work with and it's tidy and clean. They have very nice, large common areas. There were a lot of areas to walk, too. There's a little dog area and a nice path that loops around so you can walk outside."

"The other day, we visited this community. It was very positive. They would made you feel welcome and would show you around. The people working there were very helpful, positive, and upbeat. We saw a couple rooms. One was being lived in and an empty one. It had nice arrangements and a nice size. "

"My mother has moved into Copper Creek Senior Living. The thing I like best about this place is that they already have a gluten-free menu and dining options. The thing I like the least is that this center probably has the highest cost of all the facilities I visited. The personal care that we pay for is the most expensive of the 3 facilities we visited. The rooms are nice. They're just small, which is my experience at most of these facilities. My mom is in a 1-bedroom with a small kitchenette and a living room. I would guess they're probably average standard size compared to most. It had a washer and dryer in there and a microwave. She has a fairly spacious bathroom with a walk-in shower. I have tried their food, and it was good. They have a weekly calendar, and I would say activities happen about every 2 hours throughout the day."

"I toured the South Jordan View Retirement Community. The community is light and bright, full of activity, and there's a lot of involvement there with the people who run the place. They had a very good chef the day I was there who cooked some delicious food, and from what the ladies were telling me, they have their reserved table towards the back of the cafeteria, and they have about eight to ten ladies that are just full of life, full of fun. I spent about two and a half hours there. We had a great time, and they were very forthcoming about living there and how much they liked it. I went and viewed one of the apartments, which was fabulous. Jimi was very caring, friendly, and open, and she wanted to do whatever she could or answer any questions to help me decide. She showed me everywhere around there. It's just a beautiful community. So that's the place I would have liked to have gone to, but unfortunately, that's too much money for me. The food was delicious. From what they told me, you could order something else. If you want a sandwich, they'll make it for you. It's like having the best of both worlds, having your place and everybody taking care of you. It's wonderful. So, I like it a lot."

"The hallways at Park Lane Senior Living are the nicest and the apartments are the roomiest that I've seen. They have full kitchens and a small balcony in all the outside rooms, but not in the inside rooms. My sister lives there and they have a lot of activities for the residents such as exercise classes, Bridge playing, Rummy cube, reading clubs, and trips to different sites. The food is good, too. It's just that the person who was there did not make you feel welcome and that they want you."

"Sagewood at Daybreak would have been my top choice had I not moved my father recently to another facility. It is an extremely nice facility and doesn’t feel like an assisted living community. There are different options for food. They have memory care, assisted living, and independent living. The assisted living and the independent living co-mingle with each other, so that they are not seeing people sitting around in wheelchairs and does not feel like you are surrounded by older people. If you are looking for a higher-end community and you don’t mind paying more, this is the place to choose. The rooms have granite countertops. The facility is new and nice. "

"This is a small facility, sixteen resident capacity, and the facility itself is not overly beautiful or anything, but this facility has a lot of heart. I've rarely seen a facility that puts as much emphasis on family then this one does. The staff bends over backwards to accommodate family visits, even if they aren't at the best times. They also invite family to all the parties and get togethers and encourage family participation. I've never visited this facility without seeing at least two or three different residents with visitors at any given time, and they're always talking and laughing and generally just having a good time. I also always see children there visiting their grandparents or great grandparents. They literally just light the place up. "

"Creekside Senior Living has been great. I am rating them an overall score of 5 because of the attention that they give to my mother. They don't begrudge spending time helping us or with every little detail. They have church activities and social activities, too. I've never seen a happier group of people. They got fabulous food. She got a one-bedroom and it's like her own mini house. They have all kinds of facilities from the laundry area to the reading room, to the bingo place, to the piano parlor, to the snack bar, to the private dining room, and a physical therapy room."

"My aunt will move into Summerfield Retirement. It's a studio apartment with two closets and a large bathroom with a shower. The rooms were a nice size. The studio includes a little refrigerator, microwave, sink, and cupboards to put a few dishes and snacks. Dan is awesome. I went and toured it almost four years ago with my husband for his mom, and he was awesome then. I like the atmosphere. It's just different. It's a place that I wouldn't mind going to if I had to go. It's very upbeat, and they have great activities. They have service projects that they can do, like stuffed little teddy bears. They do it for two different places, and they do it every month. They have crocheting, a book club, bingo, and events in their center. In the summertime they can do a shared garden box for the assisted living facility to plant tomatoes, or do that together anywhere else. These are just some of the things and hobbies my aunt was involved in throughout her life that fit her much better than playing games or doing puzzles elsewhere. They update their carpets regularly, probably every four to five years. They keep it up, and it's a nice atmosphere. It's clean and very nice."

"We found it, and we liked it a lot. They have very nice rooms, good food, and great activities. The staff is extremely accommodating and very friendly."

"The transition for my mother to Spring Gardens has been a very positive. It was a decision that was not made lightly, but has proven to be a blessing to our family. The staff have been great to communicate as we worked through routines to support my mom. The weekly activities keep her busier than she has been in years. A family member commented that the weekly schedule is like a cruise-ship, "always something to do". COVID-19 has made the move difficult for families and residents to visit. However, the efforts to keep communication options open have not gone unnoticed. I have appreciated the nursing staff and CNA's to assist my family in the burden of staying on top of Medicare, medical needs and all of the daily assists that help my mom live comfortably and independently. "

"The people at Truewood by Merrill, Cottonwood Heights were fantastic. The place was awesome. The memory care rooms were pretty small, but they were doable. They said they designed it that way to press them to get out of that room and start communicating with people. They had flower arrangement activities, name that tune, games, dancing in chairs, and all sorts of things. The grounds and the building itself were gorgeous. It didn't seem like it was run down. It looked very nice."
