"I visited Stoneybrook Lodge for my mom. They were very nice, very welcoming. It was very nice and open. It was nice and open with nice, big hallways. The elevator was a good thing. I liked the function of the area. I just thought it was nice. It has lots of stuff to offer, like the activities and what's on their menu. The food smelled delicious, and they had such a good variety. Everything smelled nice and fresh. People garden there, and there is a nice walking path."

"We have chosen Brookdale Grand Prairie. The people were friendly and caring. It seemed like it had services that my mom was looking for. And it's close to home. It seemed well-kept, and the food was good. And there's a plethora of activities available if anybody wants them. Everything appeared to be in great shape with regard to the condition of the place."

"We toured Brookdale Heritage Plaza. They only had available a one-bedroom, which was too small. We couldn't even get any dresser in with the bed in the bedroom; it wouldn't have worked for us. My husband uses walkers, so certainly no room for them. We ate a meal, and the food was delicious. The manager is a very nice lady. It was clean, except the bathroom we went it (per my husband). Apparently, we just followed somebody in there that had pooped all over the floor and the seat, so he couldn't use it. They were embarrassed about that, but they said they checked them several times a day. Apparently, they need to check them more often. They had a lot of activities that were available. We didn't see anybody doing anything in particular when we were there, but they had game rooms, libraries, and some nice big rooms to do chair exercises, balloon activity, and bean bag activity things. The people we met in the halls were very enthusiastic about them, and they seemed friendly. One drawback there is they're putting in a water line. It horribly messed up the road in front of the big diggers. They were kind enough to help us out and have the big scooper thing moved out of our way, so we could get back out onto a main road. It is going to last another month the staff said. The food was a 5. I had some restrictions, and they made me up a chef's salad; it was great. The staff members were all so friendly. The cook came out and met us. The manager couldn't have been more helpful and friendly. As a matter of fact, she pushed my husband around in his transport chair because he couldn't get up over the threshold. The facility wasn't fancy. They didn't have high ceilings or chandeliers, but it was clean."

"Meadowlark Senior Living seems really nice. The people are very good-spirited. We talked about my wife's needs, and then we talked about the living environment, which is pretty nice. They were very, very receptive and very nice. When we were taking our tour, the people around us were very friendly and very helpful, with a lot of smiles. It was very impressive. The rooms are decent for our needs. My wife and I don't really need big homes. We're going to have our private room. We're going to have a bedroom and a little kitchen. It's a sink with a full-size refrigerator, but because we're gonna be eating three meals a day in the facility, we really don't need to have a kitchen. If you get fed well, you're happy, so apparently they are. The dining area is very nice, quiet, very peaceful, and very elegant, more than what we're used to. We're very simple, and anything they have is really nice. I like the ice cream shop that they have. They have a little theater with 20 chairs where people would gather and watch things, a library, a game room, and arts and crafts. The staff was very friendly and very upbeat. It was very clean, very updated, and very modernized. It seemed to be a circle-ish square pentagon type of structure. You can walk around. You can even exercise in the corridors. It had a nice, comfortable seating outside and walkways."

"I just moved here to Heron Pointe. I like the little cottage that I am in. I got my own kitchen, two bedrooms, a fridge, dishwasher, microwave, and everything. You can get three meals a day and house cleaning twice a week. Everything you want is here. We do barbecues, bingos, and quite a few activities. The food is good. The staff are good people. They do what they need to do."

"I went to Holiday Hidden Lakes. The campus was just really attractive to me. You have a lake right in the middle of a very busy area in South Salem, and it's just perfectly quiet and peaceful. I went back just to get a feel for that place again, and it was just heavenly to be there. It was very well cared for. When we were there the first time, they were on the last day of a COVID closedown, so everybody was in their rooms. Their food was delivered to their doors, so we didn't really get a good look at it, which is why I went back to see it again. I got on campus, and a lady met me for a visit. We didn't need to really tour, and she was very kind to spend some time unannounced with me. If it was a campus that provided more assisted living (instead of just senior living), it would have a great appeal to me. It was a very, very nice place and very well cared for. The first time we were there, they took us around to several cottages that were open and available. It was a real plus. They were well cared for. They even had a 4-bedroom place and a 2-story place, which was way more than what we were looking for. Their offerings had a lot of variety to them. There was everything from a very small place to a very large place. I was pleased with the variety of amenities and the availability to get to them. They had bus service there. I talked to the bus driver. He was telling me that he takes them over to the coast, sometimes stopping at the casino along the way and that kind of thing. It was an excellent place. The staff was excellent."

"I visited and the facility is very nice. We liked Ryan well, he's a good person to have for their marketing. This place is the one that Helen just felt fit her the best, or she liked the best. They had a very nice dining room. We looked at a studio apartment, and then a 1-bedroom apartment; they were fine. The one studio has sliding doors that go right outside, which was pleasant, it was nice. There was a group of residents gathered around a table playing their version of Wheel of Fortune. They were all having a good time. They had an exercise room and all kinds of activities going on. We met the activities director. They had been decorating. They had 13 Christmas trees throughout the building. It was very nice. We met Corey, he's the one that had called me the night before, and then Ryan was the one that took us around. He was the marketing person. We met the office person also, and then a couple of the guests just as we were walking around, and people that lived there. They were all very friendly. The facility is very nice. Parking is a little tight. As an independent living place, more people have their own vehicles. The facility seemed to be very clean-looking. They had the dining room plates sitting down already; it was decorated."

"As a private, in home elder care provider, sometimes a client of mine reaches a point in their life when part time care will no longer fit their needs, and assisted living is the best option. I've worked for several individuals and couples living in the Stony Brook independent living community in Corvallis, Oregon. The homes and grounds are manicured and absolutely lovely. There is an active social network, opportunities for both private and public transportation, and facilities ready and able to cater to the changing levels of care needed by aging residents. Stony Brook offers one of the nicest assisted care facilities I have ever seen, not only is the standard of physical care very high but the amenities offered are amazing. Residents who have moved into the assisted care lodge can enjoy chef prepared meals in a restaurant setting, a private library of regular, audio and large print books that are constantly rotated through Benton County's library system, a fully staffed beauty salon and barber shop in house, and a community bus (fully handicapped equipped) to chauffer them to both on and off campus activities. This is the short list. The staff is friendly and attentive while still giving residents a sense of dignity and privacy. When a resident moves up to a more monitored level of care they do so seamlessly to make the transition comfortable for both the resident and their families. I've visited several of my former clients who have transitioned to the assisted care facility and every one of them seems content and as well attended as they were under my own care. For me, that is very important. You can't help but develop an emotional relationship with people you have cared for. Knowing they continue to be happy and content well into the last of their golden years is priceless. "

"Mennonite Home is a wonderful facility. I have first hand experience with them as my family member was a resident there in the rehab hall for 2 months. In that time I learned the employees truly love these residents and care deeply for them. They also care about you as the family of a loved one going through a tough time. They will take time to make sure you are doing okay and talk to you about the residents day and progress, tell funny stories about their encounter with your resident, as well as get to know you and the resident better. It's a very comfortable environment. Doesn't matter where you come from or your beliefs at Mennonite Home they treat you like family. Only thing that could be undesirable about this facility is the shared rooms. For us this was a good thing because it was someone to keep her company while we were not able to be there. Great staff, appears to be ran very well and a gorgeous campus! "

"We had a very nice visit at Dallas Retirement Village. It was very good and I would highly recommend it. The 1-bedroom apartments are clean, very lovely, set up nicely, and have nice kitchenettes. It's a lovely and beautiful facility. We looked at a brand-new condominium that was a 2-bedroom unit, complete with a complete kitchen and a washer and dryer. The food is lovely and wonderful as well."

"My 95 year old Mother moved in 2 weeks ago. So pleased with everything, rooms are spacious and clean, staff is friendly and helpful. She has gotten involved in activities already and doing very well. Since it is a brand new facility there are always some hiccups when first moving in. The only hiccups we have experienced is that my Mom after 2 weeks still has no landline phone. This is a concern of ours as she has difficulty using a cell phone. When we contact the phone company they say it is Boone Ridge’s issue. When we contact Boone Ridge they say it is the phone company’s issue. I don’t care who needs to fix it….JUST GET THE LANDLINE PHONE working. Office phones seem to work just not resident private ones. The MENU and FOOD IS OUTSTANDING AND A LARGE SELECTION, ALL very tasty. The only other issue is that my Mom would like to upgrade her cable TV service to get a couple more stations that are her favorite. That has again been a back and forth issue, still unresolved. All the big issues, especially care and safety are outstanding, just a couple little hiccups or we would give you a 5-star rating‼️"

"I moved into Salem Housing Authority for low income. It's wonderful. It is very, very clean, and they offer activities for the seniors. They have a community room that you can put your name in to have for your family. They have a backyard patio off of that community room with barbecues and stuff, so you can have family and friends over. They have a garden out in the yard. There are a lot of amenities like that, and it's just wonderful. The staff is extremely helpful. It's for independent living, so they do not have a kitchen staff. I have a full one-bedroom and it's huge. The kitchenette is big and the living room is big. The bedroom is huge. The bathroom is all handicap accessible and it's very large. There's so much storage. They have a full pantry and storage closet by the kitchen and another big storage area in the bathroom. They have a potluck coming up. They have morning coffee where they have get-togethers in the community room. Everybody is so friendly. This place would be wonderful for anybody that's low income and can't afford all the big high rise, fancy places. The only thing they don't have, are meals. There must be four or five different companies that are stopping out here and picking up people to take them, whether it's appointments or shopping."

"Jason Lee Manor was nice. It's an older building, but it was clean. It wasn't fancy, but it was a nice place. They have one-bedrooms and studios. The staff who gave me the tour was fabulous. They have a giant library. They have lots of wildlife out there that's cool. They have almost a little park kind of on a creek, and there's like picnic benches and stuff like that. It's a neat little place. It's really pretty."

"The staff at Applewood Retirement Community has been really good. I've heard nothing but good on the food. The dining area is nice and comfortable. My mother has a studio apartment. It could be a little bigger, but it's all good. They have occasional parties for holidays, card games, game day, and they go places. It's an older building, but it's very clean. It's one of the more affordable ones around. You don't have to pay cable, and all I'm paying is phone as far as utilities."
