"We moved my mom to Brookdale Sparks. We are very happy with the accommodation that she has. We chose it because it is affordable for her. It is expensive, but she is able to get a nice room with a nice view and all of that for an amount that she can afford, so that is a big part of it. We also like the fact that it is smaller. It is an independent living community. We also like that they serve meals 24 hours a day, so if she is to miss a meal for some reason or another, she will be able to go down and eat anytime of the day. We like that feature about it, and it is working out very nicely for her so far. It is nice and clean. The people are very friendly. It is pretty good. It lives up to what they tell us going to happen, and she is comfortable there, which is good. "

"We toured Summerset Senior Living of Reno. It was very clean. The staff was very nice. We didn't have any meals there. It's up to date, but it's more than we could afford. What we needed was a two-bedroom and two-bath, and the only thing they had open was a one-bath."

"I toured Solista Carson by Cogir, and I liked it. They were very friendly. The studio apartments were very nice. It had a balcony in it. It didn't have any furniture, so it wasn't furnished yet. They had movie nights and exercise. They take you around so you don't need a car, which is nice. They even clean your place once a week and cook three meals a day."

"I have been a resident of Vintage At Sanctuary for a year now. I'm on the second floor, and they have elevators to get up here. They don't provide meals. They provide a lot of activities for seniors though. We have card games three days a week. We have cooking lessons. We have bingo once a week. My unit is pretty roomy for an apartment. It's a one-bedroom. They have studios and one bedrooms, too. The area is not very good. It's got a lot of homeless people and it's just not one I want to go to alone at night. Also, the management here isn't that great."

"Promenade on the River was a beautiful facility. The staff were all nice, very good, and professional. If you send anybody there, they're going to want to be there if they can afford it. The location is wonderful. It's right there on the river. If you look down, there's a park, and you can walk to any of the casinos. There's a 10-screen theater about five blocks away. It's one of the best facilities I've ever seen. I went to Las Vegas and looked and it's not comparable. The rooms were clean and nice. They had a little living room, a bedroom, and a sink. I didn't notice too much furniture in there. They have all kinds of activities, a bar, a lounge, and a wonderful breakfast buffet. It's a high-end place."

"Five Star was one of the communities I visited. It was very nice. The staff invited me to one of their events so I could see people and what they do, but it was a very short visit. "

"Vintage Hills is a nice place. You have to be at a certain income level because it's state-assisted. It's very clean, and they have great transportation. Every single day they have a bus that takes the residents to the library or to doctor's appointments. That's one thing we really like about the place. They also have a pretty active clubhouse. They have activities and games going every single day except for the weekends. All of the doors are like inside a hallway so when it gets colder they can get around to the laundry and all the facilities and so forth in their building without having to go out. I would absolutely recommend them to others. It's in a great location, too. It's really close to a lot of stuff, like Kohl's, Walmart, and library. "

"Vintage At The Crossing is closer to my son. My son has to take me places, so it's just easier for him to get to. The location is very good; I wouldn't be afraid to go out there. They have two bedrooms, but I'll be moving into a one-bedroom. It's a very nice property. The elevators are a nice size. They are twice as big as the ones where I'm at. The staff are very helpful. They have the same activities that we have here, only more. They have a library, a movie theater, and a large exercise center. It has a better atmosphere, and it feels more comfortable."

"The grounds at MorningStar Senior Living of Sparks are pretty. They're nice, clean, and well-kept. Of course, it's winter, but I've heard that in the summer there are flowers and green grass and stuff. The layout is nice. It's very open and spacious. There are two elevators for access on the side that my father's at. I think on the other side, there are also elevators. There are nooks and crannies to sit and visit. There are lit fireplaces on all the time. There's background music playing that's pleasant. The residents like it there. They have a lot of various activities for the residents. Yesterday afternoon, they had a gentleman in the dining room playing guitar and singing and people just came and went and listened to him. They have an art room, two different game rooms, and they have tournaments. They have pool, cards, and poker night, just all kinds of stuff that they do with the residents. They offer all kinds of outings. Because my father is in assisted living, all of his food is paid for. He's happy with the menu and the food is good. The people are pleasant, kind, polite, and helpful. I have nothing but good things to say about MorningStar. Dad's apartment is nice and spacious. There's a kitchenette, a living area, a large bathroom, and a very adequate-sized bedroom. In the living room, if somebody wanted, they could easily have a couch and a side chair. They could have more, but Dad has a TV on one wall. It's very adequately spaced. There's cabinetry in the kitchen so he can have food in there and dishes and cups and stuff. He's got it set up with a cart with a coffeemaker and there's a microwave and a full-sized refrigerator freezer combo. It's kind of pricy, but all these places are. If somebody can afford that, it's amazing."

"We toured Vintage at Spanish Springs. I didn't like it because, for one, they don't feed you. Number two, it looked too sterile. It was more like living in a prison. I didn't care for it. The lady who gave us a tour was all nice. It was cheaper than living here, but I didn't like it, and they had a weight room and exercise room."

"I've been in the memory care and walked through the building. They are actually across the highway from where I live. I ran into some people I know who live there. Very friendly. All the people that I've come in contact with as far as the staff have been cheery and helpful. The people who were around to visit their relatives were real talkative and very relaxed. I think the place is neat. All the staff ask, "Do you need any help?" or "Can I help you find something?" If you want to wander around, they don't seem stressed about it either. I get a nice feeling. There was a lot of activity -- a lot of people moving around. A couple of times I walked through some exercise classes for people who are not as mobile. They were in wheelchairs in one of the living room seating areas. There were seated exercises. There are a couple of little small shopping centers they could walk to probably half a mile away. They do have also transportation and a little bus. They have swimming exercises, too. It's like being in this really neat hotel. They have a restaurant bar or a breakfast bar. There were people who were having coffee and there was someone having scrambled eggs. I'd stop and talk to them. While I was talking to these people, somebody came to the refrigerator and got some juice out. From what I saw, they were private rooms and each had its own decoration. One of them had a really bright pink comforter and some stuff on the walls, so I think they can personalize their rooms. They have apartments, too -- that was the independent living area. The building is 3 stories tall and there are a couple of different wings. "

"Sierra Place Senior Living was the one that my dad wanted to move into. It's kind of like individual apartments. They have the community rooms and they have a poker night and they do a lot of activities to kind of get everybody together. They were very clean. They were in the process of remodeling so most of the rooms were brand new and they were very nice. The staff was very helpful. She showed exactly what room would be his. She took a lot of time to answer all the questions that we had."
