"Blue Water Lodge had the nicest layout and was extremely clean. The rooms were very spacious. The staff was great. It was excellent. They had three meals a day, a beauty parlor, and doctors who came in, plus had transportation to local doctors. They had different trips and different parties. "

"I have lived at Porthaven Manor for almost 2 years. From the first day I moved in I have felt comfortable, welcomed and safe. The staff is extremely helpful and friendly. Many of the residents have gone out of their way to make me feel welcome and at home. The facility is nicely maintained and easily navigated. I have found the cost of the apartments is very reasonable. I would recommend Porthaven to any single or married seniors desiring a comfortable and fun place to live. "

"Lake Huron Woods was what I thought it would be. It catered to seniors with meals, but I didn't need that. The apartment was perfect for what I needed. They had a package to rent the apartment for less money and not be tied in to all the other expenses because it was really expensive. It was way out of my budget. The staff was very informative and very friendly. The people that I met while we were walking through the facility were all very polite. They had an exercise room and laundry services I could use or they would do it for me for a fee. They handed me a break down of everything. I could choose just to rent the apartment. If you didn't want to clean your house, they would come and clean your house for a fee. "

"I toured The Village of Lake Huron Woods. They served lunch while we were there, and that place is right next to my church. The food there was excellent, the portion sizes were good, and the food was freshly made. It wasn't like restaurant food. They have a chef in the facility who prepares everything. The facility was very well kept. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. She called me a couple of weeks after I did the tour and let me know that I was on their waiting list. They just opened a new section, and those places are brand new, a little bit of a walk from the back of the complex to the front of the complex. I don't drive, but they do have transportation available. The staff showed me three different units that I was interested in: the one-bedroom, the large studio, and the small studio, which was nicely kept. I know a couple of people who go to my church and live there. One of them recommended it to me. While I was up there, they did a thing called the Sale Trail, which basically involves everybody on that particular stretch of Michigan 25 Road. They had a big yard sale, and all the people in the complex participated, which was cool. They showed me where they played cards, and they had music, but nothing was going on at the time."

"It is very good. We have an apartment and we're independent. They have services available but we don't use them. We get meals, housekeeping, and free TV and internet. There's a lot of sociability at suppertime. It's located very conveniently. There are lots of stores, malls, a Target, Best Buy, McDonald's, and restaurants nearby. The people are very nice and treat us wonderfully. We're quite happy. You get one meal included. You can have more than that, but you have to pay for extra meals. They play exercises and music, and there's always something to do in the afternoon. They have church facilities and they play movies. This place is a bargain. We get a lot for our money. They repeat a lot of the menu over a three-week period, but the food is good. It's a very good building, but we have three floors and over 300 units. For something that size they need a maintenance man for each floor. The screens, windows and heating need attention, and they only have one guy. He is good, but he can't get around that fast."
