"We went to Traditions at Brookside, and my mother-in-law liked it so much that she didn't want to see any place else. We were very impressed with it. The facility itself was very nice and well taken care of. The staff seemed very knowledgeable and competent. They answered any question we had. The services they offered were what we needed for my mother-in-law. Our overall impression was good to excellent. I saw the assisted living and memory care. The staff felt after talking to her that she really belonged in memory care. We originally went there to look at the assisted living part; but after seeing that and talking to my mother-in-law, the staff felt that she would do better in memory care. They seemed very concerned, and they knew how to talk to my mother-in-law without coming on too strong. They asked her questions directly and were really good about including her in the conversation. They answered all of our questions to our satisfaction. They were very friendly, concerned, and seemed very competent. We met the head nurse and the head of the memory care unit, as well as the executive director. We did not go during mealtime, and we did not try the food. We asked them about the food. It's a menu that has the same things every day, plus a daily special. The dining room seemed very nice. The staff has been there for quite a while. They don't have a lot of turnover, which was important to us. The facility was clean, well kept, and very pleasing to the eye. It looked brand new. it was just very nice first impression inside and out."

"Glen Oaks Assisted Living at Forest Ridge is located on a wooded campus tucked on a hillside in New Castle, Indiana. It is part of two larger buildings within the medical complex. Forest Ridge Medical Pavilion and Lamberson/Malott Eye Center are the other two practices in the area. They are independent of GOALFR. The campus is wooded and picturesque with walking trails and a pond. Inside, the facility has an aviary at its northernmost entrance. The multistory building appears more a 4-star hotel with amenities than an assisted living facility. A fireplace with mantel and seating group greet visitors. Nearby is a central office, gift shop for residents, laundry, fine dining room and elevator. A tall staircase adds ambiance to the room. The amenities for residents include meals, programming, music, exercise, hairdresser and more. A piano is available which my Grandfather loved to play. Residents enjoy private rooms with housekeeping services and three home-cooked meals/day. A bus shuttles residents to shopping trips. My grandfather lived in this location , then known as the Woodlands, for seven years. Thank you. "

"I was very pleased with Raintree Square. You can get a one-bedroom, a two-bedroom, or a studio apartment. The staff was very accommodating. It's very reasonably priced and I like the people there. The dining room was family style with four chairs at each table. They have bingo, and they take them out to summer concerts, to Wal-Mart, and to doctors' appointments that you have to pay extra for. They have a pond, a garden area, and walking trails."

"The tour I had at The Towers at Southdale was rushed, but the people there were nice. Some residents were hanging around and they were friendly. The staff seemed to be friendly, but I was not too impressed with the place itself. It was old and looked a little bit rundown. Compared to where I am now, it looked very institutional, almost. It just had that kind of an air about it. I think everything seemed adequate, just nothing great."

"My friend has been in CrownPointe of Anderson for six months now, and she has decided that she wants to stay there. She is in a cottage. It's a two-bedroom apartment with all appliances furnished, and it has a garage. They also have condos, one-bedrooms, two-bedrooms, and three-bedrooms. If they need to go into nursing home type, they have a large nursing home area where they have games, a library, a shuttle service to take them to town, and that kind of stuff. They're very good at keeping the lawn mowed and keeping the shrubs trimmed and all that kind of stuff. The staff that I've encountered has been wonderful. Meals are included when they are in the nursing home part, but they have their own kitchens in their little cottages. They have activities going on. They have a monthly activity calendar that they put out for everyone. They have a hair salon and an ice cream shop for the residents. My friend pays $1100 a month for a two-bedroom-one-bath with a complete kitchen and an attached garage with a garage door opener. "

"I toured Harter House. The facility was very nice. They had ramps around the lot, which made it quite difficult for me because I was still walking. So, getting up the ramps was hard, but they did have trash chutes on each floor. It was very clean. It has been remodeled recently. The staff who gave the tour was very nice. The residents seemed very nice. There were two ladies at the door as we left, who told us goodbye and smiled very nicely, very friendly. You could get your mail inside the building, which was another very nice thing."

"My mother was in Bethany Pointe Health Campus. She really enjoyed it, and especially she enjoyed their food. She said they had excellent food. She went in for rehab and she was in one section for COVID-19. She had occupational and physiotherapy. I think she improved as much as she could, but she's going to be close to 100, so we didn't think she was going to jump up and be running around the block, but she got stronger. I didn't taste the food, but she liked it so much, and she's pretty picky. I think once she got out of the isolation area, she had a private room. She was able to go down into the areas where people kind of congregated. She rolled herself to see people going up and down the hall and that sort of thing. She said she really liked the room. I think it's a pretty new area. It may have been renovated. She said it was very pretty and she enjoyed it. It's very comfortable. She liked looking out the windows and that kind of thing. They had a courtyard, but she couldn't go outside at the time. They had another area where people could sit and talk and kind of meet new people. That was all in their newer renovated areas. She was very pleased with it. She's legally blind, so she really didn't participate in puzzles or anything of that nature. She enjoyed the socialization part of it. The staff was fairly good. I called them for updates."

"Westminster Village Muncie is out of our budget range but it's very nice. It's very clean, the nurses are very nice and they are helpful. They have a lot of things that you can do, and a beauty shop. And from what I saw, it was very nice. I had a meal there and it was very good. In terms of value for the money, it's way overpriced, they've used up all her money and so she has to move."

"My parents moved into Primrose Retirement Community of Anderson. It's a good place and everything is going well. It's very clean and they're well taken care of. My mom liked the bingo, they have movies, and there are get-together in what they call a pub. What's great is that they were able to take their two cats. They provide three meals a day, they also have 24-hour nursing care, they help with showering and any need that they have. If they have to go to their doctors' appointments, the community has a van that takes them. The staff is very friendly and very good in calling us if there's a problem."

"When we walked into CrownPointe of Greenfield, we didn't have an appointment, but they were very nice to stop what they were doing and take us around. The place was very old. It needed to be remodeled. It was very dark and I don't think seniors need that kind of darkness either, but the lady gave us everything and was very informative. She showed us a couple of floor plans and told us the rates. The rooms were extremely small. They took the Medicaid waiver, though."

"I've moved into Majestic Care Connersville. It's independent living, which means that we don't get the same services that the skilled care buildings do. The one-bedroom apartments are wonderful, good- sized, and comfortable. I would gladly say anybody that wanted to do independent living, please come. It's just one building and it's quiet and you don't have anybody above or below you. Everybody is nice to you. Nobody bothers you. It's peaceful. It's gorgeous and you can decorate your apartment however you want. All utilities are included with your rent. There's also free basic cable. The only thing that you would need to pay is for your own phone bill if it's a landline or cell. It's an older building and some things need to be updated like the bathrooms, but they are all usable. They're just a little behind the time. The activities would be off at the senior citizen center about four blocks away. They don't have anything here for residents. There are some levels of activities for the patients in skilled care, but not for residents that are in the independent apartments. They do not provide meals if you are in independent living. However, many agencies can help you bring food to you. Every apartment has a kitchen."

"We had a tour of Springhurst Health Campus. The place was beautiful, and they were very involved with the residents. They make sure they get out and do lots of stuff. The person who gave the tour was very nice. They had amenities like a gym, salon, and a game room. They also had a nice outdoor space. It's located very close to everything, to the town, hospitals, restaurants, and shopping. The place itself was very clean and very nice."

"I toured Briton Falls. The homes are very nice. The actual clubhouse was marvelous. It was all very positive. The person who gave us the tour was the real estate agent. She lives there. She took us on a tour of the clubhouse, and the facilities, and then showed us some homes."
