"Beth and her team are the best! I'm a friend and neighbor to a resident of Kina'ole Estate. Beth took so much care in helping to educate my firend and her family and with the transition to her new home. The level of care is more than we could've ever imagined. I would highly recommend Kina'ole Estate to anyone in need of assisted living or memory care. "

"One Kalakaua Senior Living is an assisted living facility in Honolulu, HI that offers its residents quality living and daily support services. The caregivers are expert and professionally manage the routine activity at the place. I have personally visited the facility with my grandfather last month and found it suitable for aging people. Food is excellent and balanced in nutritious value. The people in the facility are friendly and help each other in difficult times. Nursing facility is available 24 hours and health is given prime importance. It is the best to receive eldercare. Nursing staff on duty is very competent and skilled. The people are busy in various activities like gardening, pet care etc to live a better life. The atmosphere is tidy, neat and clean with all kind of facilities. I think it really serves the purpose of assisted living facility and allows a comfortable stay. It is highly recommended for blood relations. "

"I placed my mom at The Plaza at Punchbowl. It's a relatively new facility. It's convenient to where I live so I can visit often. The administrators are really helpful. They have good staff and bad staff. The older aides seem to be a lot more attentive to the patients. The younger ones aren't as attentive to the patients. My mom loves the food. They have a lot of activities from gardening, to exercise, to hula, to outings. They have their own shuttle that can take people on outings. They celebrate birthdays with cake and ice cream for everybody. They bring in people to sing music. Once a month, they have people come in and sing for them."

"The thing we liked the best about Manoa Cottage was that they had people who spoke Japanese and they had oriental foods. It's made up of three houses with eight bedrooms in each. The rooms were very small and very simple. Then there's a community bathroom. They also have a TV and a koi pond. It's an old place, but the staff was very nice and very calm."

"Kalakaua Gardens is a good facility right in town. It offers every level of care from independent down to totally dependent. The dining area is beautiful. The menu was quite nice. It had very nice choices and things like that. They had PT and OT. The staff was very nice and was a lot of very young people. The common areas were very beautiful all throughout. They have quite a few areas and smaller little sitting areas. Everything is self-contained in the building. They have a patio and things, but the other places had a yard and things like that."

"We visited The Plaza at Waikiki. They wanted to know how much we could pay because they didn't take any insurance. Then they said she had to leave in two years if she didn't get any. The people were fine and nothing special, just fine. We didn't look at the rooms because they weren't interested in having her. The facility is brand new. The initial information that I got did not satisfy me to the point that I was going to go in and ask them more questions. "

"Hale O Meleana was new and pretty. Everybody seemed very nice. It was very, very quiet. They kind of emphasize resident privacy. We thought it would be better for somebody who was maybe able to get around a little bit more on their own. It was clean. The staff was nice, informative, and very friendly. They had classes and outings and an outdoor courtyard. Overall, it was very nice. It was just very expensive, not somewhere that we would put our mom, just because it didn't fit her."

"My aunt is living in Manoa Senior Care. Theyre very family friendly, and it was the right fit for my aunt. For activities, they work with the school and the students come in and work with the seniors. The residents stay in the community-based care homes. The food is home-made cooking, they get it fresh from the local farmers."

"I went to The Plaza at Monalua at breakfast time and really liked their dining room. It was more family-style, so the residents can sit down and socialize really well. I saw that their exercise class was packed. It was so popular that they needed a second class. All the residents looked very happy. It was an upbeat place with lots of activities like mahjong, games, and trips to stores and shopping areas. "

"My first visit to a resident here was in 1968. I never thot to look at Kaneohe except as a pause during a round the island journey on my day off. My mom and dad came to reside there in 2003, after being on the mainland (N.M.) for 22 years. What a wonderful slice of Paradise this twin apartment and homesites, care homes, and hospice are. I have visited a dozen times in as many years from overseas, staying an average of ten days to visit the folks. All the staff, grounds, atmosphere, food, cleanliness, and in house services are excellent, and L O V E L Y. THERE IS NONE BETTER, I less you live I a Palace, which wouldn't be as Fun. "

"The staff at Aiea Heights Senior Living is really good. We didn't get to see my mother's room though. We weren't allowed in because of COVID, but she says it's clean, and she's happy she has her own room. They don't really have amenities there that are usable right now. There is an outdoor area, but they don't get to go out and use it right now. She doesn't like the food. She said it doesn't have any taste and I think it's just because they have to be low salt and low fat and everything else. They have an activities/recreation person there. I think they've done arts and crafts, and I know they do a lot of exercises. Sometimes, they have people that come up and do some ukulele group/singing entertainment, but they have to stay outside, so they all gather by the front door and the entertainers would be entertaining outside in front of the window. There's a nice living area with a nice view, but there's not much else for them right now because they can't really go out anywhere. It's mostly just the living area that they go to, and their own room. Communication has been good, anytime she's needed anything they'd give us a call, or text me, or let me know. Sometimes they let me know that she needs more medications at the last minute. She likes the staff. The staff has been very nice to her, so she really enjoys being with them."

"Kina 'ole Estate Elima is a beautiful estate. It's very spacious and open. It's totally designed for taking up to eight residents there. Each resident has their own room, and their own bath and shower, which is very large. They also have activities that they schedule throughout the day, anything from arts and crafts, to hula, to games. They also go on excursions. They cook all their own food there for the residents. Visitors are allowed. The residents we talked to were extremely happy and even wanted to share their rooms with us so we could see. It's designed for wide open spaces and activities. The staff members are all caring and kind. With regards to food, they cater to not just a set menu, they are able to adjust for the residents."

"Lunalilo Home was very charming. I'm local. They have more local people, and workers were involved with the Kupunas. I really liked that. I found that it was a more family feeling place. They showed me where their dining hall was and their cultural hall. The people were all there. They were doing exercises. They showed the walking facilities and places like that. They were doing chair yoga or chair exercises. It was an older place."

"Wilson Senior Living has all facets of care from Independent Living to 24 hours Nursing Care. I visited this facility and was really impressed with the high standard of living they have maintained. They strive to create a home-like atmosphere where you and your loved ones can feel secure. The warm, well-trained staff works closely with the residents to provide the utmost care and comfort. The facility was always clean and well lit, with plenty of staff around. During one of my visits I saw numerous seniors attending a seminar, which seemed to be about current events. Nearby Hospitals include Castle Medical Center, Hawaii Medical Center East and Kaiser Permanente Moanalua Medical Center and Clinic. There is an oversized elevator accessible from each floor as well as two carpeted stairwells. The facility offers all kind of assisted living facilities at much cheaper rates. The lush green environment offers a real natural environment full of love and peace. The pets are also allowed inside the facility which is a good news for pet lovers. Awesome place to live. "

"In July an entirely new management team took this facility over, so it's night and day compared to the old owners. Oceanside Hawaii is located less than an hours drive from Honolulu. That could be a good or bad thing depending on your perspective. For those who want their aging parents in a quiet facility close to nature and far from the hustle and bustle, traffic and tourists of the city, this is a good choice. The new facilities have been renovated and they've gone out of their way to create a family atmosphere with friendly staff. Besides being friendly, they have qualified professionals onsite who are RNs (registered nurses) and LPNs (Licensed Practitioner Nurses) so your loved ones are in safe and competent hands. Best of all, because they are located away from the crazy real estate prices of the city, their costs are lower and they pass that on to their clients. Oceanside's prices are almost half that of those in the city. Definitely worth taking a tour to see if this is for your parents. "
