My uncle moved into Holbrook Sugar Hill. We chose them because of the proximity and reputation. His apartment is much nicer than the one he left in New York. It's pretty spacious, brand new, and has a good layout. The housekeeping is good, and the rooms and common areas are clean. They have a lot of different staff doing a lot of different things. It's a 120-bed facility. The staff is good, competent, and pleasant. My uncle has no complaints about the staff. In his view, the food is average.

My mother has already moved into Holbrook of Sugar Hill. She's been happy with the food and the mealtimes, where she can meet and talk with people, and that's been a big plus for her. The staff has been very helpful so far. It's clean, and when you walk in, there's usually someone right there at the front desk who will help. She's already been involved in quite a few activities as well, like bingo and church services, and they have craft time, and they walk around the building and meet up. Value for money is good for what she's getting and what she is paying. I've been happy with everything. They come in and check on her so many times, also at night.

We went to Holbrook of Sugar Hill. It's a beautiful facility. It looks secure and we did tour a studio apartment, which was very nice. The lady who gave the tour did a good job of covering everything. We were pleased with her presentation.

It is a very nice facility. But be very careful on the contract. They charge a community Fee of $3000 that frankly they are not upfront about. If you give them a deposit and you move in it becomes a community fee. Verbally it is represented as a deposit. It is also not represented in the closing contract. I had to move my mom out after two weeks because it was too big of an adjustment for her. I gave 30 days' notice, paid for the unoccupied days and that's when I found out about the community fee. Be very careful on contract and fees.
