Benton House of Sugar Hill Assisted Living and Memory Care

We were impressed with Benton House of Sugar Hill Assisted Living and Memory Care. It was a smaller facility compared to the other ones. They had a very nice dining room. We learned about all the different meals that they prepare for the residents. They had entertainment and games. The staff was nice, especially Keith. He was very informative, giving us information about how the smaller ones run as opposed to the larger facilities, and experiences he's had.

Benton House of Sugar Hill Assisted Living and Memory Care provides excellent service. The marketing director and the executive director have all been very helpful in getting us established. The staff in the memory care has done an excellent job. We checked Dad in and the medical tech did an excellent job. He had a fall and a scraped up arm that he had suffered earlier at his other location, and she took the time to redress it, and I am pleased so far with the service. It's in a neighborhood area. The memory care rooms are very nice. The way the room is set up is almost like having two rooms in one. There's a little division so that there's like a living area and a little bedroom area. It's very nice. I was very impressed with it. The full bathroom has a shower. So, everything is quite nice. Dad seems to like the food. They got him to eat something he'd never eaten before, which impressed me. There's a separate little courtyard for the memory care people to use, which I think will be very nice in the summertime. They've got bird feeders, planters, and stuff. They were singing Christmas carols when I was there, so they got activities.

My mom will be going into Benton House of Sugar Hill. For her, it was not as large as some of the other places. She felt comfortable. Everything was just right there on one floor. She felt comfortable with the staff there. They were wonderful with us. The other residents seem like they are happy and pleasant. They were not aware we were coming. The director was there, and she immediately took us around and spent time with us. She was very pleasant, professional, and knowledgeable. They have a small refrigerator in the room. They bring their own furniture in. They have a courtyard but no pool.

Benton House of Sugar Hill was an older community. They weren't as equipped for anybody who has a catheter or can't really mobilize themselves in a wheelchair at least 25 percent of the time. The facility was nice and clean. The rooms were very, very small though. It's more women than men, so more of the activities were for women. They have a beautiful courtyard where you can go out and sit in. It's one level. Their memory care didn't have the staff available for certain things. At the other place, you could bring in home health. At Benton, you cannot, and they didn't have rehab. You have two different room options for assisted living, and only one room size for memory care, and it was very, very small. They had a game room and a common eating area. I liked the cleanliness and the upkeep and the facility itself. I went during the day and I met every single one of the staff. They were available to talk to.
