The Phoenix at Braselton seemed very nice. It seemed like it was busy, not in a bad way, but just busy. They had nurses and attendants. The residents seemed to be happy and upbeat. They seemed to enjoy it. They have a bar, and they have a physical therapy center for the people. I think they have other things, too.

My friend is currently at The Phoenix at Braselton. It's big and it's brand new, and it looks on the surface as nice. But the staff is constantly changing, and I had the worst food I've ever had in my life over there. A lot of times, when they say that they have something on a menu, they don't have it. Their waitstaff is constantly changing. I put in a complaint when I was there because if you ask for something, they give you rolling eyes. When we got there, they said we could go into any dining room we wanted, and they had 2 dining rooms. We went into the first one to start getting acquainted with people, making ourselves feel like we were part of, instead of separated. We met people for the first 2 weeks that we were in there, and then all of a sudden they started making us go into the other dining room that's more for memory care.

I visited The Phoenix at Braselton. It's brand new, and it's very clean. It's more isolated, and the only reason I didn't pursue it further was it didn't meet VA requirements for independent living. The rooms are beautiful, but they don't have like call buttons like the other ones did. So, if my mom fell, she would have the pull buttons or the emergency buttons. They do have it in assisted living, but they don't in independent living. The staff who gave me the tour was nice, but it wasn't. It wasn't like the extended visit that I had with the other places, but I would not discount them, I would recommend them. The people that I met there were very friendly, and they seemed to like the place very much. It was quiet and beautiful.

My parents and I really liked The Phoenix at Braselton. It's three levels; however, they didn't have anything on the first floor, so my dad would have to use the elevator. But what I really liked about Phoenix is they have independent living there, so they had a lot more people. There seemed to be more people coming and going because they have independent living there. That's the only facility that I've been able to visit that had independent living, and it definitely had a different environment. We went back twice, and they were just so kind to take the time and show the place to my dad. They're very thorough, so accommodating, and so kind. They were great, they were very personable, and they let you have dogs. It seemed like lots and lots of people had dogs, and that is really good for my mom. It just gives her a lot of joy. They have amazing amenities, like screened-in porches and a heated swimming pool with a deck, which was very impressive because it would be hard for seniors to swim, so they are able to view it and walk into it. They also have all kinds of activities for residents' families. They have a playground, a pickleball court, a putting green, and two rooms that are just designated for families to reserve with all kinds of fun things to do. It was very, very inviting and fun, and I saw lots of people doing activities on each floor. We saw them painting and coming together, and you could just tell that they all knew each other and they did that frequently -- it wasn't just some one-time thing.
