"My mother is at Legacy Personal Care Home. We chose it for her because of the small size of the home. That made me believe that more one-on-one care and attention could be administered because of her high needs for attention. I felt a smaller facility would be better for her. The staff is very caring, very kind, very professional, and very knowledgeable. The physical structure is very home-like, which also reduces the trauma for patients with memory problems going into a facility. It's less industrial and more residential. The facility was spotless, very clean, and well organized. The furnishings and things were arranged, in a sense, where they had the elderly in mind. There were no tripping hazards or other things of that nature. Everything was situated and organized very nicely. I did not try the food, but I have been able to see what they're eating, and the food is outstanding. They serve home cooked meals and they are very nutritious, hitting all of the different food groups. They can kind of cater to food based on the nutritional needs of the resident, as far as low salt and/or high calorie and things of that nature."

"I toured the Regency House of Buford. Everyone we met was very accommodating and very personable. The person we talked to was very good. They showed us the whole thing. They showed us where they eat and where they have activities. They showed us their apartments. It was a very positive one. We saw the studio and one-bedroom apartments. They have a calendar full of activities. All of them were the same. They all have morning devotions and exercises at 10:00 a.m.. They go out for lunch once a month or once a week, something like that. It was well-maintained, and the staff was very helpful."

"Brookdale Lawrenceville is a small, clean place. However, most of the residents in the memory care seemed to have more physical mobility than my mom. When I was there, the residents were doing a little bit of exercise, but it didn't sound like they had a program that my mother would probably need. It was more of a babysitting service than it was an active memory care type place. The other thing is that they were not an end-of-life facility. They told me that at the point where my mom needed additional care that we would have to move her. We were looking for a place that could take care of her until the end of her life, so Brookdale Lawrenceville was not a good fit for that."

"Brookdale South Lee Buford was very clean, and the people were friendly, so I had no complaints. They had a game room and places for them to sit in the community. There was plenty to do. I just learned from experience that my mother won’t participate, so that was one of the things that I was looking for. The staff was fine, and they were friendly. They have a choice, so they could either take her to her regular doctors, or she could use their doctors that come to the place. They actually have a van that would take them to their appointments. "

The decision to place him somewhere was gut wrenching for our family but the staff here have gone above and beyond to help us make this transition as painlessly as possible. Julie was in constant contact with pictures, video chats and phone calls to let us know how dad was doing as well as making sure me and my mom were ok. "The tour experience at Merryvale Assisted Living was very good. I was very impressed. The staff was very cooperative, nice, and informative. The rooms were nice and clean. In fact, they were being refurbished. The atmosphere was very nice and comfortable. The patients seemed very content. They had a library and an activity room."

"I have been on the mailing list for about a year and I have visited the community. The tour director was extremely knowledgeable about the units, prices and amenities. I especially liked the pool and the cleanliness of the common areas. The grounds are impeccably maintained. During the visit, the Director of the community happened to be in the area and joined us. It was very nice to have the director available to answer questions and represent the details of the community with confidence. I was pleasantly surprised that the community has a van that is available for events if I choose not to drive. The residents were so vibrant, I did not feel like I was visiting a senior home. "

"Avery Village is a little more expensive than my sister can afford, but it is much smaller than the other place. I think it's going to be a great place. It's a small place. It's very personable. Everybody seems like they know each other. It is in a small town, so it is easy to get around it. My sister is still mobile, and still drives, and several of them do, so that's good. It's not very far from Walmart and some of the stores that she likes to go to. I would recommend it. I think she's going to like it better because it is smaller and more personable. I ate with my sister a couple of times and their food was good. The rooms are all very nice. They've all been redone. The staff members are very nice. It's like family. People were coming down the hallways, and they would talk to them. People would come up and hug them. So I think I think it's very personable. When you go through the front door, the dining room is to the right, and the activities room is to the left. You don't have to walk very far or anything, so I thought it was very nice. They have arts and crafts. They play trivia. They watch TV and movies and stuff like that. They're pretty new. Somebody has just bought it, so they told them, 'Let us know what you want to do and we'll start doing it.' So with regard to activities, they're very open right now."

"I've been here for two weeks now. I chose this place because of their staff and their food. The staff is very friendly, helpful, and accommodating. They just want to be of service to you. Food is outstanding! They offer very wide variety. It is absolutely good. My room is okay. Their dining room is absolutely spacious for the residents. Regarding activities, I do know they have exercises, bingo, games for individuals or groups, shopping trips, and lunch out if you want to do that. "

"I toured Celebration Village Forsyth, and it was very good. The staff who toured me was really nice and professional. I am considering the place, first of all because of the location. Secondly, the building is really new. Thirdly, I like the way they designed the rooms larger. The place where they eat is really nice. The have a movie theater, a library, an activity place, and an exercise place. It is very nice, but I don't know their programs that much. I haven't heard their programs yet, and I didn't get the chance to ask because I was overwhelmed with their beauty. The place is near where my relatives live. The environment is very quiet, and it is not too far from the shopping place. They are 50 acres wide, so I think it will be nice to take a walk or something. They have a large yard, so I can walk around morning or evening. I'm really impressed."

"My in-laws have already made a decision for The Villas. I think the facility has only been around a couple of years. They have 3 levels of care: independent living, assisted living, and memory care. Facilities were beautiful. Great staff, well-designed rooms. They have lots of activities that they take people to, and their independent-living has not been finished yet. They're just starting to build that, and we got in their first unit. So they're going to have a lot more amenities once that is all built out. The food is pretty good. The rooms are great. Big closets, big bathrooms. They are very well designed compared to a lot of the places I saw. They have 1-bedrooms in assisted living and several different studios, and then in independent-living, they have 2-bedrooms. "

"My mother is currently a resident and has been for the past 6+ years. I am appalled at the negative review that was given to Magnolias. That is totally NOT the experience my mother has had. My father visited her nearly every single day she has been there, well until his passing 10/30/14, and I know first hand myself what a nice, clean, and inviting place the Magnolias is. I know they have cared for my mother lovingly even when she hasn't been easy to be around. When my father passed recently, the staff cried with us, they loved him as much as they love her. When we asked if one of us girls could stay with her a few nights so she wouldn't have to be alone in her sorrow, not only did they feed us, they actually offered us another room with 2 empty beds or the option to bring another bed in her own room... At no extra charge. As for the food served, my daddy ate with her often and said the food was outstanding. The staff also makes most meals from scratch with a variety of meals served through out the week. They also accommodate my mother's diabetic needs and picky taste buds. In the next month or two we will have to move our mom out of the Magnolias because she needs to be closer to family. We only pray we are able to find a place for her as nice, kind, and caring as this place is. Please, before believing any negative comment about any facility, investigate the place yourself. Ask residents and their actual family about their experience at the facility. Don't just believe the first impression of a prospective client. It is not fair to your loved one or the facility. No place is 100% perfect 100% of the time. Maybe something was going on the day this other commenter came? Possibly. The review was just not fair or accurate for the long run. The Magnolias is wonderful! "
