"I looked at the assisted living and memory care at Brookdale South Lee Buford. The community seemed very nice and very homey and the people were quite friendly. I saw that they have activities in the building, people will come in with music and so forth, and they have exercises. They can go out for dinner on evenings with their bus. Overall, I was pleased and I had nothing to ask for. And all my questions were answered. It was a pleasant place and it was pleasant dealing with all the people. The building itself was clean, neat and homey."

"My dad will be moving into The Mansions at Gwinnett Park. We were thoroughly impressed with the staff and I love everything about it. The layout, the decor, the staff, and the services that are being offered, everything is good. I really enjoyed the ambiance when I walked in, it's just fresh, inviting, and doesn't look like an assisted living. The staff was very warm, very accommodating and inviting. I can't say enough about the staff. It's just the whole experience is good. Also, the facility is modern, clean outside and inside, and looked bright."

"Heartis Suwanee was nice. It's kind of big. It has five buildings. The staff said they have 85 independent units and they're nice. I thought they were a little more expensive than others. They want $4900 for a two-bedroom, which I thought was a little high, but they're real nice and everybody there seems to be happy. It's well maintained, I could tell from my one-day visit. The staff was very nice. Emily was very prompt. The woman at the concierge was just as sweet as she could be. The minute I got there, I said I was looking for Emily and she called her and said, "She'd be right here." I did not eat the food, but the people that live there think the food is good. They got a nice-looking pool table and a room for that. It's kind of like an atrium and it overlooks the lobby."

"I toured Magnolia Senior Living at Sugar Hill. It did look very good to me. The place was nice and clean. Everybody looks taken care of. I liked their game rooms. They had a lot more than where she was at. The size of the room was nice. It was like a little studio apartment. The staff was friendly. The facility was spacious, had a lot of grounds, and a patio area with the benches and stuff where they cook out."

"My aunt is a resident of The Oaks and we are very happy with the community. She tells people it is her home and that the staff are here family. Her only complaint is that her closet doesn't fit both her winter and summer clothes! The building is beautiful- like a ski lodge and everyone is very nice and caring. I would certainly recommend considering this place for a family member. "

"I would give Towne Club Windermere a five all the way around. That was my favorite place, but it is set up more like an apartment building. It's a tower and you had to get on an elevator, and Mom wasn't comfortable with that, but the rooms were fantastic. They were like regular-size apartments. They have a beautiful pool, a garden area, a movie room, a hair salon, and tour buses that would take you to the grocery stores and stuff. Any amenity that you could think of they had there. They did social hour; you come down in the main room and have appetizers and things like that. They go from independent living all the way to memory care. The staff during the tour was very, very attentive. She showed us several different sized rooms and she gave us the pricing. She made sure that we had all the meals. She let us taste the meals, which were very, very good. She took us around. She was very patient with Mom and Dad. We actually sat down around the pool with some of the people there, and we were able to talk to the residents there, ones that were in wheelchair and ones that were a little bit more independent. My concern then at that point in time was finding a place for both my Mom and Pop and Pop to be more active. The staff introduced Pop to some of the guys there that still play golf and things like that, so he really felt comfortable there. It was Mom that was not at the time, that's why we didn't do so. We actually were there three times and we signed a contract with them twice. Mom just didn't think she could do that elevator. She didn't feel comfortable with it."

"The Legacy Personal Care Home in Lawrenceville was very nice, very clean, and well-kept. The owner was very pleasant, and the residents seemed like they were happy. It's just a house without a sign, and we went to look for memory care for my mom. The residents were all in the same common area, which was the living room, and they were watching a game show. They also have bingo, and they do all kinds of other activities with them. I checked the dining area, which is a family living room style, and it seems appropriate and spacious."

"I enjoyed Belmont Village Johns Creek. They were friendly and personable. It was a nice place. The staff during the tour was very knowledgeable and friendly. She knew what she was talking about. I would feel comfortable having my mother-in-law go there. The apartments were unfurnished, but they were nice. They have little balconies and screened-in porches, which were good. They have a little kitchenette. It wasn't like a high rise, and I liked that. It was like a village, so that was good. I looked at the dining area and it looked nice, they had a little cafeteria and cafe. They have a courtyard and a large outdoor area where you can hang out. I like that it's smaller than the other place we visited."

"We like Sunrise of Johns Creek. The people there were very nice and very accommodating. The information they gave was very good. It felt like something that would meet our needs whenever we got to that point. Even though it was old, it was very clean, and it was laid out very well. It seemed to have everything that we think that my wife's needs would be at the time when she gets ready for it. The apartments were very nice. They have several different combinations of just a room or a room with a family room. They have a variety of combinations. The staff who toured us around was very knowledgeable and very helpful. He was able to answer any questions we had to our satisfaction. One of the things that we liked to, they also had memory care."

"I went to Oaks at Shiloh Point. It was very small, and it only had 35 beds. They had lots of activities. The person I was supposed to meet with was not there, so I was shown around by a very nice maintenance. It wasn't as expensive as some of the other ones, but it was old. Laundry was not included, too. They have studios and small one-bedrooms. The staff was nice, and he was knowledgeable because, at one point in time, he had owned some of these independent living and assisted living places, so I felt he was knowledgeable."

"I found a place for my dad, and it's called Lanier Place. The staff is incredible. If I could give them 10 stars, I would give them 10 stars. They're that good. They just make you feel like your family member is safe and you don't have to worry about them in their hands. It's like a very big family dynamic. They treat everyone equally and everyone is like family. It's just amazing. My dad has been there for six weeks now. He is there for regular assisted living. He does get medication management because of possible dementia, but right now, he is in assisted living. His room is great. It's a smaller apartment, and it's the lower income kind of part of the facility, but his apartment is good. It's perfect for him. It's easy for him to access everything, so it's really good. And it's right across from the courtyard; he loves to walk. My dad loves the food. It's delicious. It's like you're at a restaurant. It's very good. For activities, they walk with them and they have an ice cream social. They'll take them wherever they need to go like to doctor's appointments and outings. I remember one time I walked in and they asked them what activities they like and what they like to do. One was like, 'I want to go fishing,' and they were like, 'We can try and work that out.' So they want to do as much with them and make them happy."

"Dogwood Forest of Grayson was very modern. It's relatively new with wide open hallways, long corridors for the residents, and a lot of seating. When I walked in, I was very comfortable. You could hear people talking and they had activities that were going on. There was music, they were playing bingo, chess, and there were tables laid out for card games. They also have a physical/speech therapy room for exercise, which I liked. The dining area was very nice and very spacious. The rooms were very nice-sized."

I saw the bedrooms and everything else, and the living room. It's very nice. I was very impressed. They treated me great. The rooms were very spacious. It was set up very nicely. "Addington Place of John's Creek was nice. I liked it, because even though it's small, it was very clean inside and all the staff was friendly. I liked the outdoor space that they had for the memory care residents, like having a garden and different activities that they can do during the week. Tawana was helpful. She's the director of the facility and she even called my mom, who's out of state, to give her a Facetime tour of the facility. The dining area was very clean and brightly lit. I spoke to the nurse who helps with the dietary options, and she's aware of my dad's diet limitations. So, they were very accommodating."
