"My mom has moved in. They have about 25 residents, they have three meals a day, and they have just a bedroom and a bath for each person. There is a lot of memory care folks out there, but we've been pleased. We're happy where she is until we need to go somewhere else. The rooms were originally built just as a single room, but now they have put two of them together, so you have a living space for the TV and chairs. They're not like apartments. It is just mainly a room because it was built a long time ago. They are built what they call double room but it's two of the smaller rooms with the wall removed in between. It is very comfortable. They have several big areas where they can all meet and do their activities like cards and stuff and have guests come in. They have a big piano, so there's plenty of room for gathering. There are two dining rooms for each part of the building, but it's all one level, so it's very easy to negotiate with a walker. They have a beauty salon, a courtyard, and very nice surroundings. There are rocking chairs on the front porch. It's a very nice setup. My mom has been happy with the meal, but I haven't eaten with her."

"My mother has been a resident at Ashton Hall for 3 years now. Her transition was a little rough but the staff did a great job of making her feel welcome and she eventually got over her fears. The food is always exceptional and the owners are always on-site or available. Mom loves it here and that makes us happy! "

"I toured the Regency House of Buford. Everyone we met was very accommodating and very personable. The person we talked to was very good. They showed us the whole thing. They showed us where they eat and where they have activities. They showed us their apartments. It was a very positive one. We saw the studio and one-bedroom apartments. They have a calendar full of activities. All of them were the same. They all have morning devotions and exercises at 10:00 a.m.. They go out for lunch once a month or once a week, something like that. It was well-maintained, and the staff was very helpful."

"I don't think there's much to change in Emeritus at Courtyard Gardens. From what I've saw, it didn’t feel like a typical rest home environment. I liked the atmosphere, it seemed like a pretty well kept and run place. The residents seemed content and happy there. My dad's accommodation is very nice and suitable for him. The staff is very friendly. They offer him laundry, daily check-ups, medication and ensuring he gets the meals. I tried the food, it was good. There are lots of activities going on for the residents. They have sing-a-longs, exercise, bingo and crafts. Another thing I'm impressed with is the resident nurse that they have all the time. She's new, but there's another one that has been there for all her career as a nurse. It tells me that it’s the place one wants to me, not just the residents but the staff included. "

"We went over to Brookdale South Lee Buford. I was impressed with the apartments because they were totally separated from the assisted living facilities. It was almost living at home where they have a clubhouse you could go to and that you could associate with different people. The prices were high, but to me, for what you get, I don’t think it’s extremely high. They had little porches on the back where you could sit outside, and you had a lawn that came up to the porch. They were in the process of remodeling and updating their independent places, and it was just like moving into a new apartment. "

"My mom moved into the Towne Club Windermere. I've gotten to know the staff pretty well, it's very professional. Every person I've met has just gone out of the way to be able to help. If you're looking for independent living, this place is truly like an apartment, it's an amazing place. The craftsmanship is very good, they have granite countertops, really nice cabinets, it's just like a kitchen you would see in a normal apartment, good hardwood floors, the layout plan is good, the view is on the inside over the pool, and it just feels like you're at a resort hotel. It's a cross between a resort hotel and a country club. They have a really nice salon, a good fitness area, the movie area is really nice, it's a big room, big screens, and they have a lot of activities in that room, whether games, or classes, or bingo. Classes include yoga or chair exercises. The grounds are very well-manicured, it's a very quiet place. The view that my mother has on the back end overlooks a big pool with palm trees, overlooks a wooded area that's got some walking trails. It feels very upscale. The rooms in the assisted living are nice, but they are definitely smaller. At some point in the future she'll transition to assisted living, and when she does, those are also nice. They offer shuttle service, and they have two doctors that have their PA, and offer that service as well, and three meals a day. I've eaten there several times and the kitchen does a good job on the menus."

"We had a very good experience when we visited Parc at Duluth. It seemed to be a very nice place. The food was very good, and the people were very friendly. The apartments were very nice and spacious. They looked very good. "
