"The Oaks at Braselton was very nice. The tour was well done. The person who gave us the tour was very helpful. She gave me a lot of tips about what to look for and what kinds of things we would need to do. She was exceptionally good. It was well-maintained, and it was appropriate for what we were looking for. The accommodation was very nice. They have studio and one-bedroom apartments. They were having a special dessert, and the person was playing live music in the common area, so that activity was very nice."

"Merryvale Assisted Living was one of the first facilities that we went to. One of the nursing staff that showed us around was very nice. She explained everything that she could and answered all the questions. I was also able to talk to an administrator on the phone with some general information, and everybody was very kind and very helpful. The people that we saw there seemed to be happy. We did talk to some residents, and they seemed to like the facility very well. They have an activities director. They have a little game room setup for the residents to play board games or watch TV; there was a really homey atmosphere in that general area. "

"I recently visited a family friend at St. Mary's Highland Hills Village in Athens, GA. My friend had a wonderful room all to herself, all her the things that were most important to her, pictures, her favorite books and her most comfortable blanket, were right in her room. They provide her with meals, cable TV and a guest bed for visitors. Her favorite thing to do was to sit on her bed and read while looking out of her window. We went on a walk around the grounds while we were there as well, they were peaceful and well kept. The staff at the front of the facility as well as the ones in the dining room were pleasant and seemed friendly enough. This is definitely a place i would look into for my own grandparents if they should ever need a assisted living provider. They are a trusted name in our town. "

"We had visited Arbor Terrace. The people were comfortable. The staff was really good. They were gentle and they really seemed to really care about the people living there. It was very nice and I thought it was really good. We saw some people having lunch, and the lunch seemed nice. We were given a really good tour. My husband asked a couple of questions and the staff was able to respond. The place was clean, and I felt really comfortable. "

"The people at The Landing of Bogart were extremely nice. The place is extremely clean. My oldest daughter's mother-in-law was there. We just felt like the memory care place was more confining and my husband walks a lot, but it was a nice place and it was clean. We saw some of the residents eating their lunch and they looked like they were enjoying it. The people there were very nice. The memory care unit was a little bit smaller and they only had two other men there (my husband would have been the third man). The rooms were a good size. They had enough room for a bed and sofa. It just did not have much outside of their room. It was just like one long hallway. They had an area where they watched TV and the area where they ate, but those same tables were used for arts and crafts and stuff."

"We toured both the assisted living and memory care sections of Orchard at Athens. We went there twice for two different tours, and they're very efficient and very nice. Everything was top notch. The staff, the appearance, the tour guide, and the food they served were fantastic. They gave us a tour inside the different apartments. They do everything for the residents, including preparing their meals and doing their laundry. They had a paved path around the entire perimeter, and they had lights down the hallway that the residents could control. The staff was great with communication too. They've emailed me back and worked with us on the price. They took off a significant amount per month. They had five different activity directors, so they had a large variety of activities. We saw them painting where they did these dots with little crystals; you press it on and make a picture. They had gardening, fountains, rocking chairs, musicians who come in to play, a movie theater, ice cream every Saturday at the ice-cream shop, special events, stretching in a chair, and devotion time once in the morning. There were just so many things to choose from. When we were there, they had a bus, and many of the residents would go into town to eat out at a restaurant. The environment was beautiful, and the two times that we were there, I saw the same visitors coming in to visit their families. All the staff members greeted them by their names. It is expensive, but it's extremely high quality with excellent care. The memory care facility was beautiful. There was lots of light coming in from all areas, and it's not a depressing environment. Then they had the whole square that meets in the middle of the building, so you could just walk around and walk to that square, and you would feel like you've gone somewhere when really you've just walked 100 feet, depending on where your room is. It's easy to find people to talk to or things to do, versus being in your home by yourself with nobody to talked to. I liked the lady who gave us the tour, Mary, and that's who I communicated with multiple times. Everybody stopped what they were doing and greeted and welcomed my parents when we were touring. The front-desk lady was also great. They gave us a cheesecake, and I liked the way that they had the food displayed. They had it all laid out on two trays, so each day you can go into the dining room and see it. The presentation of how they do their ordering and the selection was great."

"Mom is in a particular place at Talmage Terrace called Personal Care and it is specifically appropriate for her condition. It's kind of a cross between assisted living, which is much more independent, and nursing home care, which is not independent. The personal care floor has more focused assistance for her ongoing activities. She has a single room with a bathroom. It's big enough. It's a larger size room, so she can fit some of her own furniture. It's probably smaller than what we would call a studio apartment. There's not a separate bedroom/living room thing, like a large hotel room but it works for her. She's wheelchair-bound, so she's got enough room to maneuver around. The staff has been very good. They're very kind, caring, and professional. They serve three meals a day. I just had lunch there today. I had seafood salad and soup and the seafood salad was very good. It's an older facility, but it's well-cared for, well-maintained, and clean. They've got a daily schedule of activities. They have at least five or six things going on pretty much every day."

"Mulberry Grove was pretty good, we saw a lot more residents because we were there in the middle of the day. They were up and around, and some were walking outside. It was very pretty; they had a sunroom and a screened porch at the end of each wing. That was nice because my mom liked to be outside as much as possible. "

"Lakeview Manor was a small place with about 10 residents, so it was not a big facility. Yet, it was not too small that if she did not like the other residents, there were other people she could still talk to. I liked the location because it was in the middle of nowhere. They had a very nice lake with a gazebo where they went to sit or fished. There was also a nice wooded area around it. The only drawback was it took about 15-20 minutes to drive to town for shopping. Mom had a private room with a window that looked out to the lake, a good-sized closet, twin bed, dresser and side table. Although, we brought her own bed in. They did not have television service in the room so I provided for her. I preferred it if the private rooms had bathrooms but they did not have. All the bathroom were in the hallway and shared by everybody. They had two aides in the morning and one at night. I did not see any scheduled or planned-out activities. The residents did whatever they felt doing like puzzles, coloring or dance to music. They mostly stayed in the television room. She kept complaining about the food and there were a lot or repairs underway. "
