"I like the way The Grove Athens was set up. I toured their independent living community and liked that you have a garage, a good-sized backyard, and a back deck, which you could have screened in. You have a front porch and really nice appliances. The living room is small, but the bedrooms are of a good size. They don't have a lot of room in the eating and living area, which is combined, but for one person, it's fine. They're decorated up to date, and the grounds are gorgeous. They pay all of your utilities except your electric, and all the maintenance is free. You can have your meals in the main building, which is apartments for people who can't live by themselves. You can pay extra, and you can eat all three meals down there. That's an option. They have a once-a-week grocery pickup, if you want to go with them to the grocery store. They have an alert button on the inside. It's a little red button, and you're to push that between 6 a.m. and 10 a.m. every day. If you do not push that, they will call or send someone to check on you. They also come in and change your light bulbs. You pay them the monthly fee, and then you pay for your electricity, but water, TV, internet, and all that is included. They have an exercise room, a sauna, a hair salon, and a pedicure. They just built a new big clubhouse where they have all kinds of activities. I think they have a book club, they play bingo, and they have a pickleball court, too, or they're getting ready to build one. The person who gave the tour was very nice, not pushy, and explained everything. She had sent me a text about once a month. I think their price is a little high. I went online and tried to compare, and they were a little higher than some of the other places. As far as everything else, it's just really nice."
