The Landing is close to a variety of activities and entertainment. Shopping is available at Epps Bridge Center and Georgia Square Mall. Entertainment is available at University Cinemas and other local venues.

What transportation services does The Landing of Bogart offer to assisted living residents?

Transportation services are available at The Landing. A passenger van with wheelchair capabilities will be used during all transports. This form of transportation will be used by the Life Enrichment Department for trips and outings, but can also be used by residents for transportation to and from personal appointments. Depending on the distance from the community, a fee may be associated with personal transports.

What makes the chef or dining program at The Landing of Bogart exceptional? What kind of menu can assisted living residents expect?

Terrell Johnson, a graduate of the Delgado Culinary School in New Orleans, has over 20 years of culinary experience. He started his career in the restaurant business at the age of 15 as a prep cook at Felix’s and expanded his culinary skill set within various popular restaurants in the French Quarter. Terrell served on staff at Emeril’s first New Orleans restaurant. Chef Johnson has served as an Executive Chef in the senior living industry for over 10 years and is known for exceptional dining experiences and creating outstanding teams. Three meals are served restaurant style in the dinning room daily. Continental breakfast will be served in the activities room kitchen as an alternative to the meal served in the dinning room each morning. The juice bar and hydration stations will be available 24/7. Snacks will be available in between meals and in the evenings.

What safety features or security measures does The Landing of Bogart offer to assisted living residents?

The Landing utilizes a wireless nurse call system to ensure the safety of its residents. This system is comprised of resident pendants, pull stations in resident apartments, and nurse call stations in resident apartments. Pendants will be worn by residents and when engaged, caregivers will be alerted immediately. Pull stations and nurse call stations will operate in the same manner, alerting caregivers immediately upon engagement. The AccuShield system will be utilized to screen all third party vendors for background checks and vaccination records prior to giving them access to the community. Visitors will also sign in upon entering the community, thus creating a record of which visitors are visiting which residents. After normal business hours, there will be a video doorbell that will allow visitors to ring the nurses station. Upon ringing the doorbell, a caregiver will utilize the video to communicate with the visitor and allow entry into the community.

The Landing of Bogart will utilize a variety of methods to keep in close contact with residents' families. Care Plan Meetings will be held between the resident, the family, and The Landing staff every 3-6 months. These detailed meetings will cover all aspects of life at The Landing, including dietary, activities, and clinical care. This one on one time is a valuable way to communicate changes and create new plans as needed. In addition to Care Plan Meetings, The Landing will utilize quarterly newsletters, monthly family nights, and weekly Facebook updates to communicate with families.

What is the care staff-to-resident ratio at The Landing of Bogart during daytime and nighttime hours?

The Landing will operate on a care staff-to-resident ratio greater than the ratio required by state regulations. The state of Georgia requires a ratio of 1:15 in Assisted Living and 1:10 in Memory Care during waking hours and 1:25 in Assisted Living and 1:1 6 in Memory Care during non-waking hours. The Landing will operate at 1:10 in Assisted Living and 1:6 in Memory Care during waking hours and 1:16 Assisted Living and 1:8 Memory Care during non-waking hours.

The Odyssey Memory Care is a secured neighborhood for residents with cognitive impairment. This neighborhood is only accessible through the use of key-cards. Each staff member will have access and will assist guests and visitors into and out of the neighborhood. This neighborhood is purposefully built into a large oval, which gives residents with tendencies to wander the ability to do so all while allow care staff to provide supervision at all times.

Who assesses residents' health and cognitive functioning? How often is that assessment repeated?

Trisha Love, LPN, CDP is the Director of Healthcare-Bogart. Her nursing career spans 14 years including skilled nursing, home health and hospice care with over eight years experience in assisted living. Trisha is a Certified Dementia Practitioner and uses this specialized training to enrich the lives of those in our Odyssey memory care neighborhood. Assessments will be completed upon move-in and then periodically on a set schedule from move-in forward, with the exception of an assessment being completed upon a change in medical condition.

What techniques does The Landing of Bogart use to support memory care residents during mealtimes?

The Landing promotes independence, sometimes by changing diets as needed. Finger foods, scoop plate, weighted silverware, etc. Hand over hand technique is used. When total feeding assist is necessary, it will be done 1:1 to preserve dignity.

How does The Landing of Bogart keep residents' families informed about their loved ones' health?

Any change of condition will be communicated to families via the Med Tech on Duty or Director of Healthcare. Family members are encouraged to communicate questions and concerns with the Director of Healthcare through email or phone. Meetings with care staff can be scheduled upon request of the family.

The Landing is located on beautiful Highway 78 with close proximity to a daycare center and a small shopping center. It is only a short drive to Highway 316 and the city of Athens.

The Landing will utilize both Athens area hospitals. These include St. Mary's Hospital and Piedmont Athens Regional Medical Center.
