I chose Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. The stay is excellent. It's new. The people are nice. There's nothing that you can't like in this community. It's a very, very nice community. I went to see seven communities. In my opinion, this was the best one. My apartment is very nice. It's new. I have all stainless-steel appliances. You can eat here. You can have your hair done here. There are plenty of things to do. There's bingo, trivia, and gymnastics things which I haven't even tried yet because I just moved in. It's wonderful. The staff is excellent. They are so wonderful, so helpful, and so nice. There's nothing bad you can say about this place. I'm very happy here. The food is delicious. They have a large swimming pool, a workout room, and a movie theater, and they show movies twice a day. I have a washer and dryer in my apartment.

Memory care has admin issues. Lots of resident wandering and a Resident defecating in other residents apartments. Constant losses of resident laundry. Lack of communication.

I went to Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. It was great. It was a beautiful place, with nice people, and very clean. It smells clean and not like air freshener, like the fake smell. It had a very, very welcoming environment. The independent living building was very open, very new, very fresh, and very clean. The hallways were nice and wide. The apartment that I saw was a one-bedroom apartment and a two-bedroom apartment. Absolutely, beautifully appointed, just really, really nice. There was a call button by the door that the residents pressed every morning by 10:00 a.m., and if they didn't, then they gave them a call just to make sure that they were OK. They also had an outdoor pool. They had a beautiful dining area. They have the hair salon and the nail salon, they had a lot of amenities. I would say beautiful big rooms, so that was big for me, you know, as compared to the other place that was very small. They had different rooms for different things. They had, you know, the bingo room, which also had arts and crafts that they could do at any time. They had a library area, it also had a computer a fireplace, and a sitting area. It had a very large dining room, and then an outdoor screened-in dining room. It had an outdoor pool, putting greens, and a pool table. It had like some video arcade games, like a Pacman kind of a thing, which was kind of fun. The kind of place where if you were independently living and you wanted your family to come and visit there'd be plenty of places to hang out, which was very nice. And I thought if my dad came down now while he still independent living, he would really enjoy that because it was very much like a hotel atmosphere. They also had an exercise room,l and they had a Tai Chi class going on at the time, which was nice to see. It only had like five people in it and a teacher, but it still had windows out to the back looking outside, which was very nice. They had a movie theater with a big movie screen where they do movies every night with a little popcorn. I talked to the residents. They were doing a Mardi Gras celebration up there. There were people in the process of cleaning at the time, which was nice to see, and they were incredibly friendly. This place had big showers, big showers that like had no steps or anything going into them. My dad could roll in his rollalator and stand there, or if somebody was in a wheelchair it would be much easier to get in and out. So that was a big thing for me. Besides the pool I was looking for a bigger shower.

I toured Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay. They had very nice staff and nice apartments. I just found that the living rooms were just too small to fit my furniture. I didn't have a lot of furniture packed into my living room, but it was still too small. Other than that, I would recommend the place. It's very clean. If you want something different for breakfast, their chef will offer that if you ask them. I think it's a pretty good place. The dining room looked very, very nice. The hallways were really clean. It's not a bad location, but I don't want to live in that location. The place was extremely clean. I don't think it's a very old place. The place itself, aside from the small living rooms, was very nice.

I like Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay. It is very comfortable, very private, and very nice. We have nice apartments here. We've got a restaurant, a bar, a swimming pool, a theater, card rooms, and game rooms. I'm very happy with the price. The staff is very pleasant and very helpful. Activities are going on all the time. You can either be involved or not.

I've signed up with Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay. I like the idea that they just put a rental fee and I don't have to put a huge amount down. It's very new and they're trying to fill it up. One of the reasons I picked it is because one of the people who live there said it's like being aboard a cruise ship, and I said, 'I'm in, I'm in.' There's a big washer/dryer and a microwave in the room. There's a big pool area and outside seating areas. They did an excellent job with the tour that I had. I thought they were young for being in assisted living, but apparently, they were already retired. I enjoyed meeting them. I talked to two different staff. Both knew their job and knew what was available, what you're paying for, what you get, and what you don't get and such. I've eaten there. I've had lunch and I've had dinner at a couple of different times. It's very nice. Everything is brand new. It is clean and unused actually. The other thing is that every time you pass somebody in the hall, they say, 'hello, hello.' Everybody's friendly.

An almost new building is attractive. The staff is generally and maddeningly unreachable by phone especially in the evening. The director once argued with me about this problem ! The head nurse never returned my last two phone messages. It's expensive, the staff can be very good but not always.

My husband and I are staying at Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay's independent living. We chose it mainly for the activities that they're going to be having and the social interaction activities. They are going to have different fitness ones, arts and crafts, card games, and go out on field trips. The place is brand new so it's superb, it's great. They have an exercise room and a swimming pool. The staff is very nice and very helpful. The food is also excellent too so it's topnotch.

I moved into Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. My late girlfriend's daughter lives here and she found out about it, and then we moved down here together. My girlfriend passed about two months ago now, so I'm here by myself, but I've made a lot of friends. It's a nice place. The staff is fantastic. I'm in the dining room at the moment and its great food. You can order anything off the menu. The people that take care of my medications and stuff are very prompt and very helpful. The facility is immaculate. I just moved to a one-bedroom, but we used to have a two-bedroom. It's got a large bathroom with a walk-in shower. They have pets. I have a cat, and they let me have my pet here. A few people have dogs. Yesterday, they had a little bit of a Veterans Day. They have a lounge bar type area and they do birthday parties and stuff in there. They do bus trips. Sometimes, they'll just go out to Wal-Mart shopping. Sometimes, they just go for a drive or they might go to a restaurant outside. Just about once a week, they have bus trips. They have bingo and all kinds of games. They have a prayer group, and they have Sunday services and Catholic services on Monday morning. They have full-time medical staff here 24 hours a day. It's very reasonably priced. I'm very happy. I get my money's worth. They do housekeeping, laundry, and everything. They have a month-to-month agreement or you can sign a long-term if you want, which I've done. They've got a nice outside patio area and front porch where you can sit outside and enjoy the fresh air. They have something every single day. You can play cards if you want to. They have Wii bowling and a therapy pool. This place is fantastic.

Discovery Village At Sarasota Bay is wonderful and very nice. Everything was great, but it's a lot of money. People were very nice, and the lunch was very good. The place was clean, and I'd love to live there, but it's just too costly. I loved the amenities. Anyone who visits there would sure want to stay there. The grounds are kept up nicely, and the place was spotless. They have a pool and other things to go to. They have different things at different times. It seems that it's very well-situated and very nice. I have no complaints.

My mother is at Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. It's excellent and clean. She is now very happy there. I don't have any complaints with the staff. The food is very good, too. I think it is a good community. The residents seem very happy.

My wife has been with Discovery Village for a month now. The place looks pretty good, but they have the assisted living and memory care in one place, so it's pretty confusing. She's in a private room, but they also have larger rooms for couples in the memory department. They take the residents over to the regular section and have entertainment once a week where musicians come in. The staff is good and trained in memory care, but some of them are still going to school to be a nurse. For lunch and dinner, they usually have one main course, soup, and sandwiches for people who don't want to eat the main course. Their activities are improving, and the pricing is pretty good.

Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay has been a godsend for our friend and neighbor. He has "blossomed" since moving into this beautiful memory care facility. The staff is wonderful and very supportive of the residents as they look after their individual needs and tend to their well-being. The Activities Director and her assistant provide fun and purposeful activities, guest entertainment, and outings for the residents. Dr. Lloyd and the nursing staff are top-notch! Our friend is extremely happy with his new home and has a new outlook on life, no longer living alone! His physical and social needs are quite satisfactorily met. Thank goodness we found Discovery Village!!!

We’ve decided on Discovery Village for my mom. She has a medium sized apartment -- perfect for what she needs -- and it’s very clean. The staff is wonderful, and they take very good care of her. The food is awesome, and they have a very good chef; he takes people to the market with him and does cooking classes. They have art classes, health classes, and games. They’ve got a nice library which we donated a bunch of books to. The memory care is a whole community, and they integrate them in with the rest of the community.

Discovery Village is not far from where we live, the building is very lovely, and I thought the architect who designed the area was brilliant. The people in the memory care unit have a courtyard, and they can leave their room and go out to the sunlight. It was all brand new. The problem is in front is a shopping center that is not nice, and on the same side of the street is a Laundromat and a trailer park. It has an unfortunate location.

My father is going to go to Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay. It will be a little more appropriate for his needs. I've met the salesperson and the administrator. The rooms were a little bit bigger and a little nicer than where he is now. The dining area seems fine. We chose it because it's closer to my mother's home, so she can visit more easily, it's brand new, and the memory care unit seems to be a little bit more user friendly for the residents.

What I liked best about Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay was the size of the room. It's 700 square feet, and it was very nice. It's assisted-living, and they included everything in the cost. All charges are included if you need a bath, if you need help with medicines, or if you need to go see your doctor. They're the only ones that do that. They have a swimming pool, card rooms, and a movie theater. They got it all.

Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay is currently finishing building the facility. They offer three different lifestyles for the same price. If a senior’s condition deteriorates, they have the caring facility and don’t charge any difference in price to move there. You don’t have to buy into a room. Amanda was extremely helpful; if she had not helped with explaining the program and the other assistance that’s available, we probably wouldn’t have come to a decision. She was a big part of the decision. It was an entry-level cost, and the price isn’t going to be raised for three years. It has all the amenities. I think they will have to travel a longer distance to the doctors compared to other facilities, but other than that, all else is within driving distance. Discovery Village at Sarasota Bay’s cost and amenities are incomparable. As soon as they open their doors, I will be moving my parents there. They are ecstatic.
