My mom is there in the memory care section. At first I was thrilled with her being there but now having second thoughts. Her room hasn't been cleaned in over a month, items constantly missing, room has an odor and she is not showered regularly. I'm there twice per week and spend the day with her, during which I shower her and straighten up her room. When I arrive she has on the same clothes she had on at my last visit when I showered her. She is a woman who bathed twice daily and kept a spotless home. Meanwhile a worker sits and plays on her phone when she should be working. If things don't improve here very soon I will be moving her out.

I have a deposit with Brookdale Bradenton Gardens, but they would be my second or third choice. It is within my budget and only about five minutes away from where I live right now. However, it wasn’t as nice as the other community as far as the physical facility and was a little bit more depressing in the memory care. It didn’t have the same upbeat feeling as other communities, though still good enough that I wouldn’t feel terribly bad about seeing my husband there. The staff is wonderful, but they didn’t have many activities. It was one of the things that was lacking. The memory care facility part was rather small and didn’t offer the amount of privacy as other communities.

Brookdale Bradenton Gardens was a really lousy place. My aunt was in memory care. It smelled, and the staff was lazy and uncaring. The apartment was OK but every time I visited her she was wet through her pants, she hadn't been showered, and the food is something I can only call disgusting. Dessert was a stale brownie that every person picked up with their hands; it crumbled onto the plate, and no one could eat it. There was no meat, bread, or starch. There was a canned tomato, broccoli and cheese that looked like it had been microwaved. The pricing was exorbitant -- $7000 for a month there. I had her go there, and I regretted it deeply.

The secured unit in Brookdale had screaming people, the activities looked like they’re just sitting, and they had hidden fees. There’s a fee for the facility and another fee just to handle his medicine. The rooms in the regular units were nice, but the ones in the secured unit were not nice.

Brookdale was nice. It was homey, and the people were very nice. The rooms were fine; they were clean, but there was no barrier around the shower, so it was not safe for an older person. They didn’t seem to have as many activities as the other places.

They were very informative at Brookdale Bradenton Gardens. They were in the process of remodeling. It was very clean and well taken care of. It would have been our choice if it was not too far away. They have activities like shopping, bingo, and cards. It was wide open, and it had lots of sunshine. Their lobby was huge.

We looked in Brookdale Bradenton Gardens. It’s an older building, but they showed me all the updates they were doing. They did outings, and there was a whole calendar of things that they offered. I believe they had 3 meals; I think they usually had drinks and fruits. I was very pleased with it.

My mother will be going to Emeritus. It is very clean. It is very nice -- both the grounds outside and inside. I talked to the coordinator; they have activities for them. The people I meet seem nice. The dining set up is very nice. The receptionist said the food is good. They have bingo and crafts, but I am not sure what else they have. I have seen a room, and it is furnished, but I think you need to furnish your own room. It is a nice size, and the bathroom is nice too. It has a walk-in shower, and it has bars.

Emeritus at College Park was very nice. I thought it would be fine for my neighbor, but my husband didn't think that she would like it there. It was bright and cheery, and it was clean. I used to do home health and I was in these facilities years ago as a nurse, and the problems that I had sometimes with the staff will not be the same because the same staff is not there. The problems that I had with the patients were, of course, between me and the patient. The facility building itself was the same. It hasn't changed that much in the years that I used to be a nurse.

I was in tears when I left this awful place. People just sitting in the hall looking really unhappy, the strong smell of urine, the dementia patients in lock down sitting around with blank looks on their faces, when I left there was a urine trail going from the front door down the hall and the final straw was stepping in feces outside the dining room of the lock down patients. I wouldn't put my dog here. Who has carpeting in an assisted living facility? It had been cleaned so many times it couldn't come clean. The Board of Health should be called in and frequently.

Emeritus was nice, but the rooms were not as big as my own personal bedroom. I know that John wouldn't be happy there. That wasn't acceptable. But it was lovely, clean, friendly, and a happy place. Other than the size of the rooms, everything else about the place was very nice.

Emeritus at College Park had a feeling of a medical building. Outside, it had no ambience whatsoever. Inside though was very clean and very nice. The admission person was a gentleman and he was accommodating. From the outside, it didn't seem what I wanted for my mother.

I went to Emeritus at College Park. I saw what they had and I wasn't satisfied with it. They don't measure up to the facility where I'm in now. The staff was fine. Their accommodations were furnished in a different style. They're not as big as the others I've seen. Also they didn't have kitchens in their apartments. This place was more expensive but they didn't have the facilities that I like, like a swimming pool for example.

I am a friend or relative of a resident

The environment at Emeritus College Park is friendly, quiet, and it's accessible. My aunt had a private room and it was spacious. She was allowed to decorate it with her own things and make it feel like home. I think they could improve on their interaction with their residents, but because they seemed to be short staffed, that would be very difficult for them. When you ask for something, they gracefully get it for you or help you with it. However, I feel it's understaffed.

From the impression I got, Emeritus at College Park seemed like a very nice facility. It's clean, they have a nice dining room, and they say that the food is good. I don't know how they function or what activities they have, but I did notice that the residents seem bored. However, I wasn't there all day and I don't know if they're being entertained. I think it's very important to keep them busy with activities because they're still capable and it help distracts them from their suffering. They should entertain the elderly more, especially people with Alzheimer's or dementia because they need something to stimulate their brain.

I have chosen Emeritus at College Park for the lady I've cared for, for the last 7 years. I decided to go with a facility for the reason that I cannot take care of her all the time. The facility was actually in a good location. I go to school right by there, so it's very convenient for me to visit her anytime. The people there, from the resident to the staff were really kind and friendly. And I have a great sense of relief and security that she will be well taken care of.
