"We're very attracted to Friends Homes, because of the ambiance and philosophy in Greensboro, North Carolina. Also, it's a lot more affordable. It's got efficiency apartments as well as a one-bedroom, two- bedroom, and three bedrooms. They've got two campuses. They have four restaurants and they have shuttle buses that will take you to wherever you want to go so you don't have to have a car when you retire there. They're just delightful. The apartments were furnished with everything except your furniture. It's got appliances and carpeting. They've probably got a dozen different floor plans. So, they have a lot more variety. They have a fully furnished kitchen and laundry room. The food was good. The lady that gave me the tour has been very helpful. She called a few days ago to see if we were still interested."

"Pennybyrn is a Methodist or Presbyterian home. They were just wonderful there, and they also have skilled nursing. It was well done, well appointed, and the staff was excellent. The rooms were adequate, but not as good as the other places I toured. We saw the menus, we saw the dining room, and it was very nice. The menus were excellent. We saw some activities going on, people playing bingo, and putting puzzles together."

"My father-in-law was in River Landing for 4 years before he passed away. The staff is caring, and very outstanding. The food there was fine. He was in a private room, and it’s very clean. I have no complaints for 4 years that he was there. "

"I had my grandmother at Twin Lakes. They’re really nice, more upscale facility. The place is beautiful. It looked big, and the staff seemed very friendly and really helpful. They let me know every step of the way what’s about to happen. They’re very informative. In the skilled nursing facility, she gets 24/7 around-the-clock care. She is basically on her floor all the time. They have everything. They had a magician one time. They have a lady that comes every Tuesday who plays guitar and tries to get them all to sing. They seem to be pretty active. "

"We are on the waitlist for Piedmont Crossing. We toured it and we selected a patio home. It's more like a regular home and it's not in the main campus area. I think we'll be able to start with independent living. You can migrate to assisted living if you need to, and then they also have skilled nursing. We get full access to all the main building amenities. They had a gym, recreation, and a dining area. They have field trips and stuff on site, and they have a movie night. They have about everything we would need now. The room is a two-bedroom, and a bath and a half. It's got a little front porch and a back-covered back patio. It's 1100 square feet with a living room and a kitchen. We will cook mostly since it's got a full kitchen. It was big on my list to have a full kitchen and a washer and dryer."

"I knew when I pulled up to Brookwood that this place was special. The natural beauty that surrounds the building is perfect and the building itself is perfect. Once I got inside the building, I was greeted by the receptionist and immediately taken on a tour by another person that gave me a grand tour. This place was as perfect as a living community could be. I cannot go through all the amenities and perfections but there were so many great things about this place and I did not see one bad thing about it. No staff were out of place and they all were helping and treating the staff as if they were all friends. If you are looking for an assisted living facility in Burlington this should be your first stop. "

"We went to look at Brookridge Retirement. The staff took us to an open room. She told us we could go down to the gym where they did physical therapy, but we didn't go down there. We saw the room and the hallways. They were also doing construction on the main section and making it nicer. The room was nice. They had a nice closet area to put the stuff in. From what I heard, the staff was new at her job. She was nice and friendly, but not as informative as the lady at the other facility. The facility smelled and looked fresh and clean."

"I came with a friend as she was looking for a retirement community. I ended up liking it and was ready to downsize from my big house. I called my children to come tour and we all decided that this was the right decision. Everybody was so friendly and helpful. When we asked questions, we always got the answers we needed. That was very important in helping me realize that this was the place for me. I quite enjoy partaking in the social activities. The Social Director does a great job putting events and daily activities together. Even though the community offers dining, I still like to cook. I still enjoy coming down for dinner for the people. After suffering a stroke, the on-site rehab personnel came to my apartment for therapy. I am among friends here and with people every day. When I was in my house, I was by myself quite a bit. The sense of community is simply amazing. My friends and neighbors truly care about me and go out of their way to help me. I recommend Homestead easily. It has everything you want and need. "

"I know a lot about Salemtowne because I have several friends who live there. It’s expensive; if I could afford to live there, it would probably be where I’d want to be. It has beautifully kept campus-like grounds. It’s probably been a year since I’ve eaten there, but the food was very good. The rooms that I’ve seen were very pleasant and well appointed. They have good recreational activities. They have a large, very nice pool. They have exercise classes. Their exercise room looks like it has all basic equipment. I know they have all kinds of classes from water therapy classes to sit-down yoga. "
