Cielo Vista Senior Living was very dirty. It just didn't appeal to us. The staff was unprepared. The dining room was very messy. The upkeep of the facility was not good at all. There's nothing good about it. When I would ask specific questions to the woman at the front, she didn't have the answers. I don't think she's the person I should have been speaking with, but she informed me they typically don't do tours on Sunday, so I was kind of confused. She was nice, but she was just not knowledgeable. The atmosphere was very cold and not welcoming at all. The staff didn't greet us or say hello. They're assisted living, so many of them obviously couldn't talk or didn't want to talk. It was not a good experience.

My mom came to live with us at age 88, and after caring for her for a year, we realized that she needed memory care and a staff, who would be able to care for her. Mom has a modest retirement pension and is also diabetic, so unlike dad, she would also need medical personnel on staff. We searched for a place near us, but the cost was way over her pension and the cheaper places had a waiting list of several years. What to do? By word of mouth, mostly, we were introduced to a new memory care facility. It would be much more affordable for mom, located somewhat near the beach, but best of all, it was started two years ago by a psyche nurse and her nurse daughter, who had a vision for a loving environment with staff who were required first of all to have a genuine love for aging elders. My siblings and I discussed the matter and decided that we would give Cielo Vista Senior Living a serious go. Mom has been living at Cielo Vista Senior Living for the past nine months. She loves it! The staff is so nice and friendly, the food is great, and mom loves her private room. We are so happy we could cry :))) She just enjoyed her 90th birthday party and thanks us again and again for finding this really great place for her. She says, "We take care of each other." The brochure doesn't begin to speak of the quality of life and care that mom is getting at Cielo Vista. You just have to come for a tour. Meet the staff, see the happy faces. The first thing mom did when she got there was play one of the four pianos around the facility. When my brother Joe visits, he always plays the piano for everyone.
