My brother stayed at California Healthcare & Rehab for three days. The experience that I had on those three days was not good. They have nursing and rehabilitation and he was going to be doing both, supposedly, but he never got to it. They put my brother in a bed that was not working. It's almost to the floor. When we called, they said we had to make an appointment. We cannot just show up. One visit I had was for 4:30. I got there a little bit over 5:00 and they said he was not ready. I was not happy with it. I would hear a lady on my visit calling for help and nobody would go. I believe that they should have cameras to check out the people especially when they cannot speak and things like that. The office looked very nice, but I didn't like the rooms. They had two people in a room, which was not bad, but the bed was not working. They had him all the way to the floor until I and my son went in. We (and the two nurses) put my brother in another bed. There was staff that was OK while I was there. I don't know when no family is around. The building looked nice. The waiting area looked nice. They never put him in a wheelchair. He was not doing that great, but going to that place, he got worse.

My mom stayed at this facility in the spring of 2011 for three weeks after breaking her ankle. My grandma also stayed there several years back. I am pleased to say that this facility greatly improved from the last time I was there. The staff was much more friendly and attentive to my mom's needs then they were when my grandma was there. The equipment such as the IV and bed was also working properly which was not the case last time. I am also pleased to say that this facility was also very clean and the staff changed all the linens regularly. I have been in other assisted living homes in the San Fernando Valley and this was probably the cleanest one I have been in. The nurses at California Healthcare were always very friendly and never hesitated to help my mom get to the restroom when she requested help. The only real negative from her stay and why I give this facility four stars instead of five is that the rooms were small for people staying in short stay accommodation (there were three to a room) and my mom didn't have enough space to use her walker and therefore get to the restroom on her own. It was also difficult for me to visit her when staff was attending to another patient due to the lack of a place to sit or stand. All in all, I would recommend this facility to friends or other family
